  2. wicket

WICKET Lyth c Moores b Evison 153published at 15:55 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 296 v Yorkshire 73 & 347-7

Joey Evison produces a beauty to get the edge of Adam Lyth and finally end his stay at the crease.

A deserved ovation for Lyth as he leaves the field. He hit 20 fours in his innings and lasted 381 balls and has put Yorkshire 124 runs ahead.

  3. 150 runs

150 for Adam Lythpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 296 v Yorkshire 73 & 346-6

Elsewhere at Trent Bridge, Adam Lyth has brought up his 150 with a gorgeous off-drive off Joey Evison.

    Wonderful batting.

  4. Lancashire need 68 to winpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 128-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Mason Crane gets excited as he gets a bit of turn and bounce as Dane Vilas tries to play off the back foot.

Three more singles off Crane's over, though.

  5. Ollie Robinson holds up Kentpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Middlesex 147 & 363, Kent 138 & 147-4 (Target 373)

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Kent are making Middlesex wait at Canterbury as Ollie Robinson bats doggedly, having made the first half century of the match for the hosts.

The pitch isn't as lively as day one, when 12 wickets fell in the second half of the day, but the bounce is still inconsistent and the spinners are being brought into the game as a result.

Zak Crawley was the big wicket. He played around one from Toby Roland Jones but, with the powerful Darren Stevens to come in next, followed by Grant Stewart, who previously has a century against Middlesex, Kent will feel that they will at least have a shot at the huge target if they can maintain a good start to the evening session.

  6. Contrasting nervespublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 125-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Seven singles since tea for the home side. But still 71 more to win. That will feel a long way off for Red Rose supporters.

Seven singles off the target as far as Hampshire fans are concerned. Their margin of error is that little bit less.

  7. Will Warwickshire take a gamble?published at 15:44 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 13-0, Somerset 389

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Warwickshire's County Championship title hopes are not quite over as long as Lancashire are in the ascendancy in Liverpool.

If they bat boldly and successfully the Bears can give themselves two sessions to bowl at Somerset while setting them a tempting target.

A potential complication is that, as long as Yorkshire hold up Notts, then a draw for Warwickshire will be enough to secure second place.

So will they be prepared to gamble on a place in the Bob Willis Trophy final and substantial runners-up prize money for an outside chance of glory?

  8. Lancashire need 72 to winpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 124-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Mason Crane twirls away but again Lancashire accumulate three singles off the over.

  9. Tough going at The Oval for seamerspublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Surrey 251-2 v Glamorgan 672-6 dec

  10. Four for Sibleypublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367 & 9-0 Somerset 389

Dom Sibley already stepping things up a bit.

A drive through mid off for four from only his fifth ball, off Craig Overton.

Then that is followed by four leg byes.

    Lancashire 121-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Steven Croft takes two singles and Dane Vilas one as Brad Wheal completes his over.

    Warwickshire 367 & 1-0 Somerset 389

Two overs gone in the Warwickshire second innings following the early tea.

One big shout (for a supposed Rob Yates nick) off Josh Davey.

    One run scored, by Yates.

    No wickets lost.

  13. Which way is this one going?published at 15:36 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 118-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Steven Croft has walked out with Lancashire captain Dane Vilas to resume at Aigburth.

    Brad Wheal to continue.

Which way is this match going to go?

  14. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 296 v Yorkshire 73 & 341-6

Adam Lyth continues to frustrate Nottinghamshire. The Yorkshire opener bats through another session to be 147 not out off 370 balls.

The lead is 118 and while still some way short of being a testing fourth innings target, is threatening to take the match into a fourth day.

  16. wicket

WICKET Thompson c Duckett b Mullaney 31published at 15:22 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Nottinghamshire 296 v Yorkshire 73 & 335-6

A useful partnership of 74 between Jordan Thompson and Adam Lyth is ended. Steven Mullaney induces an edge from Thompson to second slip where Ben Duckett pouches it low down.

It has taken 122 overs to get six wickets in this second innings where Yorkshire have built up a lead of 112.

  17. Tea at Aigburthpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 118-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

The players go off for 20 minutes after that dismissal of Wells.

When they return, Lancashire have to score 78 more runs. Hampshire have to take six wickets.

The game, and possibly the title, is on a knife edge.

  18. wicket

WICKET Wells c Vince b Wheal 39published at 15:16 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 118-4 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Would you believe it? Another twist in this match.

Luke Wells had really started to motor but he gets a bit greedy as he tries to force off the back foot to the first ball of Brad Wheal's over and it flies into the grateful hands of James Vince at first slip.

Wells goes for 39 and that is the last ball before tea.

  19. Lancashire need 78 to winpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 118-3 (Target 196) v Hampshire

Luke Wells uses his feet well to hit Mason Crane for four and gathers another single. Five off the over.

  20. wicket

Somerset all out for 389 at Edgbastonpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 389 (136.3 overs)

Josh Davey is last man out in Birmingham, caught diving low to his right by Tim Bresnan at slip off Chris Woakes, to give the England all-rounder a third wicket.

Somerset now have a slender 22-run lead - but the real job done by the Cider Boys at Edgbaston was denying Warwickshire that crucial third bowling bonus point.

The Bears now need to step on it to build a big enough second-innings score for them to declare and then try to bowl out Somerset again, but a bit more quickly next time.

Still 36 overs left in the day. But tea will now be taken in Brum.
