    Lancashire 112-3 (Target 196) v Hampshire

    CraneImage source, PA Media

Mason Crane needs only three balls to make an impact!

Classic leg-spinner's dismissal, as he gets Josh Bohannon pushing forward, the natural spin induces an edge and James Vince takes a good low catch at slip.

    Hampshire absolutely needed that!

  3. Time for Cranepublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 111-2 (Target 196) v Hampshire

The ball is in the hands of Mason Crane. The leg-spinner will have his first bowl of the match.

He needs to find some magic.

  4. wicket

    Leach c Rhodes b Briggs 49published at 14:57 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 381-9 (133.3 overs)

Warwickshire get that much prized ninth wicket - but it has come 23.3 overs too late!

Jack Leach is prised out by fellow England left-arm spinner Danny Briggs.

It's a third victim for Briggs.

New man in is Jack Brooks. Not the worst number 11. He has a first-class century to his name. And in a Roses Match too!

Chris Woakes returns to the Bears attack to bowl his 30th over of the innings.

  5. 50 partnershippublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 109-2 v Hampshire 143 & 193

A partnership of 52 between Luke Wells and Josh Bohannon for the third wicket and eight runs off Liam Dawson's over.

    87 to win.

  6. Somerset now lead in Birminghampublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 381-8 (133 overs)

Somerset now lead by 14 runs at Edgbaston.

What a remarkable turnaround. And Jack Leach is just one short of his 50.

  7. Under 100 neededpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 101-2 v Hampshire 143 & 193

Hampshire's third seamer Brad Wheal is thrown the ball for the first time in this innings and his arrival releases the pressure.

His first ball goes for four byes before Josh Bohannon cracks successive fours.

12 off the over and suddenly Lancashire are 101-2 and need only 95 more.

  8. Redundant spinnerspublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 85-2 v Hampshire 143 & 193

Hampshire picked three spinners for this match at Aigburth, but so far only Liam Dawson has bowled in either innings.

Mason Crane and Felix Organ have not been called upon to turn their arms over in the entire game, although Crane top scored in the first innings with 25 at number nine and opened the batting in the second.

  9. Three other three-day finishes?published at 14:45 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

Aside from the Lancashire-Hampshire game, which will surely be all over today, whatever the result at Aigburth, there are three other potential three-day finishes in Division Three.

Sussex, who followed on against Derbyshire 165 adrift, are now five down in their second innings for 105 - still 60 behind.

Derbyshire, don't forget, are the only side without a Championship win to their name this season.

Also Kent, needing 373 to beat Middlesex, are wobbling a little on 109-4 in the game that will determine who finishes top of Division Three.

After a Worcestershire first-innings score of 422 to earn a 200-run lead at New Road, Leicestershire are now four wickets down, still needing another 97 to make the Pears bat again - and the hosts are being held up by a former Pear and a former Bear.

From 35-4, George Rhodes, son of former Worcestershire legend Steve, and former Warwickshire loan signing Ben Mike have put together a rescue bid with a fifth-wicket stand of 88 so far.

Mike has hit a 50, his fourth of the season, while Rhodes now has his half-century too, from 103 balls, his third for the county, after a resolute two-hour-plus stay. But the Foxes still trail by 77.

  10. Survive or thrivepublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 81-2 v Hampshire 143 & 193

Lancashire batter Josh Bohannon has faced 35 balls and has accumulated five runs, which includes a boundary. That means 33 dots.

It requires a lot of patience to do that, but when the title is on the line, every run is vital and you can't make any if you're back in the dressing room.

    Lancashire need 115.

  11. Hugh Bears . . .published at 14:31 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 366-8 (127 overs)

After a quiet day in Birmingham so far, and at a moment in the game when there is a decided lull, the more vocal members of the crowd have woken up from their respective post-lunch naps to provide some much-needed musical accompaniment.

We have now had a steadily growing crescendoing chorus of "You Bears . . ." for the last 10 minutes or so, springing up around various points of the ground.

Jack Leach and Josh Davey remain unnerved though. Somerset are now just a run behind. Now that's something to sing about!

  13. 'Tense and freezing'published at 14:27 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 75-2 v Hampshire 143 & 193

After Alex Davies' dashing 44, scoring has slowed up for Lancashire. Luke Wells and Josh Bohannon have added 18 in ten overs.

Liam Dawson is twirling away at one end, while Mohammad Abbas is straining for a breakthrough at the other.

Everyone knows how crucial this stage of the run chase is. Lancs need 121 more runs, Hants need eight wickets.

  14. Somerset six away . . .published at 14:14 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 361-8 (123 overs)

Jack Leach (36) now his highest score of the season.

He and Josh Davey (12) have put on 36 for the ninth wicket to nudge Somerset within six of Warwickshire's first-innings score.

With a day and a half left in this game, the Bears are going to have to bat a bit more quickly in their next dig. When they do eventually get a chance to bat again, that is!

WICKET Davies c Crane b Barker 44published at 13:50 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 57-2 v Hampshire 143 & 193

Wow, two wickets in two overs!

Danger man Alex Davies, who had raced along to 44, attempts another positive shot off Keith Barker. But he can't keep it down and it flies to point where Mason Crane takes the catch.

The big celebrations from the fielder and the frustration shown by Davies tells you how important that moment was.

  18. Somerset go past 350 . . .published at 13:47 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Warwickshire 367, Somerset 350-8 (116.3 overs)

Somerset bring up their 350 with a dabbed single into the leg side from Josh Davey off Craig Miles.

They now trail Warwickshire by just 17 runs.

Davey moves on to 9. Jack Leach is on 28, as he calmly ducks under a Miles bouncer.

That's all it took then to restore some solidity to Somerset's batting . . . recalling Leach!

Seven more runs and he'll have his season's best!

  19. wicket

WICKET Balderson b Dawson 12published at 13:46 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 55-1 v Hampshire 143 & 193

    Big wicket for Hampshire!

It's not Keith Barker or Mohammad Abbas who have got it, but Liam Dawson. His first ball was hit for six by Alex Davies, but with George Balderson on strike, he gets one to turn from outside off-stump and knocks over Balderson's leg stump.

Nine more needed for the visitors. 141 runs for Lancashire.

  20. Chance goes beggingpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 23 September 2021

    Lancashire 141 & 48-0 v Hampshire 143 & 193

George Balderson edges Keith Barker and it goes straight between substitute wicketkeeper Lewis McManus and James Vince at first slip and runs away for four.

That was a BIG chance and should have been taken.
