  1. Somerset 71-3 - target 168published at 10 overs

Somerset are ahead of Kent's 65-3 at the halfway point of their innings, but the Spitfires have the runs on the board and this target is going to take some reaching.

Will Smeed is 36 not out and Tom Lammonby has three.

  2. Somerset 64-3 - target 168published at 9 overs

What a beauty. Qais Ahmad pitches one on middle stump and it turns past the outside edge. Will Smeed can do nothing with that, but takes a single from the final delivery to keep the strike.

The big wicket of Tom Abell, who is a very good player and when they were building a good partnership.

Qais Ahmed has done his job for the Spitfires.

A disappointing dismissal as Tom Abell lobs a catch to backward point. Tom Lammonby is the new batsman.

Somerset haven’t been sluggish they’ve still scored and played dynamic shots.

    It’s certainly game on.

  7. Somerset 59-2 - target 168published at 8 overs

Darren Stevens didn't play a T20 game for Kent in 2018 or 2020 - but he's certainly been a big part of their challenge this summer.

At 45, Stevens is 26 years older than batsman Will Smeed, and he uses all his experience to keep Smeed and Tom Abell quiet.

Just four from it. Another 109 from 12 overs required.

  8. Somerset 55-2 - target 168published at 7 overs

The spinners carried the biggest threat for Somerset, what can Qais Ahmad do for Kent?

Will Smeed pulls to mid-wicket for two as the Somerset total reaches 50.

There is turn there, though, as we saw for Joe Denly at the start of the innings and the batsmen decide to take a look before planning their attack.

Somerset lost their second wicket in the second over when Lewis Goldsworthy departed.

This is a classic game of cat and mouse here between Klaassen and Smeed.

  11. Somerset 47-2 - target 168published at 6 overs

Tom Abell uses the natural angle from Fred Klaassen's left-arm over the wicket delivery superbly as he runs to ball down to third man for four.

Klaassen switches to round the wicket, but Will Smeed gives himself room and uppercuts over backward point before flipping the next one to fine leg for a second successive boundary.

He is 22 not out and Tom Abell has 20 - 15 from that over.

  12. Somerset 32-2 - target 168published at 5 overs

Kent turn to Matt Milnes, hoping he can add to his 21 wickets in this season's T20 Blast.

Will Smeed drills one through Joe Denly's dive at cover and is able to scamper through for a couple.

It's a reasonable over for Kent, though, pushing Somerset a little further behind the required rate.

The Spitfires were 40-0 at the same stage of their innings.

Some of the shots Smeed plays are quite ferocious and he is someone who Somerset will be looking to bat well into the back end of this innings.

Here's the earlier dismissal of Tom Banton from just the second ball of Somerset's innings.

  15. Somerset 24-2 - target 168published at 4 overs

Grant Stewart into the attack for Kent.

It's a decent over containing three dot balls.

Somerset need another 144 - Tom Abell is 12 not out and Will Smeed has eight.

Six and caught in the crowd! Great take! Smeed is up and running now.

It's a great take in the crowd and he gives it the big one with the celebration!

  17. 6 runs

    Somerset 19-2 - target 168published at 3 overs

Tom Abell's pull shot isn't out of the middle, but it falls just out of Jack Leaning's reach and that's four.

The next ball is struck with more authority and once again it's a boundary for the Somerset number four.

Joe Denly's final ball is again short of a length and Will Smeed opens his account by putting it away over square leg for six.

  18. Somerset 3-2 - target 168published at 2 overs

Will Smeed faces the final ball of Klaassen's over but can't pierce the field.

The Spitfires are certainly on song but as we’ve seen all night, the game can be going in one direction and one player can come in and change it the other way because Somerset’s batters just keep coming.

All the top teams are very resilient.

  20. wicket

    Goldsworthy c DBD b Klaassen 3 (Somerset 3-2)

Just imagine the feelings of Lewis Goldsworthy and Will Smeed now - aged 20 and 19 respectively - following Tom Banton's dismissal.

And imagine them again now as a leading edge by Goldsworthy is safely held by Daniel Bell-Drummond.
