    Crawley c Brathwaite b Mayers 7 (Eng 23-1)

Two overs without scoring and Zak Crawley, perhaps, was starting to get a bit twitchy.

A bit of a nothing delivery from Kyle Mayers, albeit with a scrambled seam, and Crawley attempts a flashy and expansive drive through the covers.

His bat was away from his body and he simply chips it into the grateful hands of West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite at short cover.

West Indies ideal bowling pair to apply some pressure on England's opening batters as the shine starts to come off the new ball.

Jason Holder backs up a Kyle Mayers maiden with one of his own. More swing in that over from the West Indies all-rounder too.

If England bat through the first hour without losing a wicket, it won't necessarily mean that Brathwaite made a mistake, but the West Indies captain will have wanted a couple of wickets by now. The wicket has seam movement, but it's quite slow - it'll speed up more as the game goes on.

There's definitely a different feel to this match already.

Kyle Mayers, who replaced spinner Veerasammy Permaul in West Indies' XI is given an early go and struggles with his run up for a couple of deliveries.

He's a bit more of a 'Steady Eddie' and is happy to keep Zak Crawley honest with a maiden first up.

Even on the first morning, there's some uneven bounce. This is really interesting cricket at the moment.

  6. Eng 23-0published at 10.0 overs

Jason Holder is consistent and persistent, but England are resistant.

Another testing over from the West Indies all-rounder as he probes away outside off stump.

Zak Crawley and Alex Lees both pick up singles.

Fisher's none selection is very odd and needs explaining.. makes debut one match and dropped the next is no way to build confidence.. unless they thought two Test matches in two wks was too much.. but he's the youngest bowler in the squad and need to learn surely?

Alex Lees, chewing gum, is able to whip Kemar Roach's third ball off his pads and England run three.

A ripple of applause from the smattering of England fans in the The National Stadium in Grenada.

Since Joe Root became captain, he's been keen to work on the connection between past and present England players, with a view to it being a 'club of England cricketers', with present players being aware of the history and the traditions, and respect those who have gone before.

Occasionally there's an England evening on tour which former players are invited to. Today, I received a special England pin badge from Ben Stokes, who said some very kind words, and I was able to pass on my familiar message to the players to enjoy every moment they have in the spotlight. You never know how long you have in it - don't leave any moment behind.

I also passed on that they deserve to win this series. We'll see if they do!

A bowling change for the West Indies as Jason Holder, who you sense is the perfect man to swing and nibble the ball around on this pitch, is brought into the attack.

His first delivery hoops into Alex Lees, striking him high on the pad. Two balls later he beats the outside bat before the England left-hander chases - and misses - a wider one.

In Antigua, they recognised the island's most famous son, Sir Viv Richards, who had his 70th birthday before the match started.

In Barbados, the island's most famous daughter, Rihanna, has a monument just next to the stadium.

And here in Grenada, right next to the cricket ground, the athletics stadium is named after the island's most famous son, 2012 Olympic 400m champion Kirani James

Zak Crawley strolls down the pitch and prods the surface after a delivery from Kemar Roach again fails to get up, skidding through to Joshua da Silva.

Roach grins to himself on his follow through.

Next delivery Crawley is defending stoutly on the front foot.

I've seen some pretty bad reviews in my time, but that review from the West Indies for Crawley was terrible.

Another boundary for Alex Lees, who has looked much more fluent on this pitch than he did during his vigil at the Kensington Oval.

The left-handed Lees gracefully cuts Jayden Seales through the point region this time, happy to use the pace of the ball to guide to almost guide it to the boundary.

We've already seen the ball beat the bat more times for the seamers in 25 minutes than we have in two Test matches so far this tour

  16. Eng 13-0published at 5.2 overs

Zak Crawley's response to a couple of nervy lbw shouts is a positive one as he unfurls a beautiful drive straight down the ground off Kemar Roach's fifth ball.

Alex Lees collects his first boundary in Jayden Seales' next over with a convincing pull off the back foot which hung in the air off the pitch.

    England are up and running.

Zak Crawley survives after the technology shows the ball was going over the stumps having struck him on his back leg. Roach seemed convinced, but perhaps he thought it clipped his front pad.

West Indies appeal for lbw after Zak Crawley is struck again, attempting to leave one outside off stump from Kemar Roach.

After some persuasion, Kraigg Brathwaite goes for the review.

A menacing full ball from Jayden Seales in the penultimate ball of his second over thuds into Zak Crawley's front pad as he steps across the line attempting to flick it down to fine leg.

West Indies appeal. Wicketkeeper, bowler and captain exchange words, before deciding not to review.

That was close but probably just slipping down leg.
