Saqib Mahmood has the opportunity to bowl six balls at Kemar Roach as Ben Stokes stretches and limbers up to replace Craig Overton next over by the looks of things.

Mahmood strays on to Kemar Roach's pads with his second ball and it takes the edge before racing away through fine leg for four. Joe Root moves himself back to leg slip.

A single through gully and Joshua da Silva gets back on strike. West Indies edging closer to England's total with two wickets in hand.

Craig Overton bangs in a short one to Kemar Roach, but the West Indies batter gets over the top of the delivery and fends it off well.

England have a silly mid-off, short leg and skipper Joe Root at leg slip now. "Come on lads two good balls does it" encourages Ben Stokes.

Roach flicks one of his hips fine, but it's away from the dive of Root.

There's been a little bit of variable bounce but the pitch hasn't been that responsive today.

    Da Silva 31, Roach 2

    Saqib Mahmood continues after drinks.

Joshua da Silva steps across and whips his third ball one off his legs through mid-wicket for three more valuable runs to the West Indies cause.

Mahmood's penultimate delivery squares up Roach who holds his defensive pose as the ball flashes past his blade and the off stump.

I don't think England have got it wrong. It's just that ball getting softer and it's hard to take wickets. Credit to West Indies.

It's the kind of pitch where you need express pace or mystery spin - England don't have either.

England have a silly mid-off and a short leg in for Kemar Roach as Craig Overton looks to bang it in, but it's to no avail. At least this time.

    Every run vital from here.

Thomas: Maybe England should send out Leach and Mahmood in as openers in the second innings to try and see off the new ball (almost like two night watchmen) and then unleash the top order once the batting gets easier.

Joshua da Silva might possibly feel the need to play a few shots now with just tailenders Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales left to bat, although...

Saqib Mahmood gets some reverse swing as the ball hoops in at yorker length to Kemar Roach which he digs out. England appeal for lbw, but it's turned down and there was no hint of a boot on that.

Between deliveries Jonny Bairstow is roaring with laughter under the helmet at short leg and Roach is grinning. A few gags being cracked out there.

England needed that wicket as the West Indies inch towards parity.

Joseph suddenly changed modes and starting playing a few shots - perhaps the prospect of the new ball coming soon?

All that enterprise from Alzarri Joseph comes to an end. He gave himself so much room with the off-side beckoning. All that was missing was a connection from the meat of the bat.

Ben Foakes atones for his earlier dropped catch with a good take.

Alzarri Joseph backs away and attempts a flat-batted slog Craig Overton only to edge it off the toe of his bat through to Foakes, who judges the flight of the ball well to claim the catch.

West Indies trail by 27 runs.

    Saqib Mahmood into the attack.

Alzarri Joseph shuffles down the pitch to show some intent to him first ball only to play a forward defensive. It's a similar story next ball, but this time he clips it off his pads for a single.

Joshua da Silva likewise picks off a single from Mahmood's final ball and clips it for one.

    Very good, Tom.

Craig Overton with three dots before Alzarri Joseph scrambles a leg bye.

Next ball gets big on Joshua da Silva and strikes the thigh pad prompting shouts of "catch" from the England fielders. Was there some bat on that? It's immaterial as the ball thuds into the turf.
