Mark Poole: Good fight back from England. If there’s any team who can collapse as good as England, it’s the West Indies.

You only look as good as a captain as your bowlers are. Chris Woakes did well and mixed up his length. The crucial thing for England now is to not let West Indies off the hook like their opponents did in the first innings. Hopefully they can finish off the lower order and get a bit of a lead.

Thanks, Sam. Finely poised Test match this. If either side can get a lead you feel it will be crucial to the outcome with the variable bounce in this pitch.

Right then, a positive session for England. They have given themselves a good chance of claiming a sizeable first-innings lead.

To take you through the tea break and the evening session, I'll leave you in the extremely capable hands of Timothy Abraham.

Jonny Bairstow is chirping away under the lid at short leg and there are gasps all round as Joshua da Silva plays right back to Leach. Very much a case of 'don't miss that' - plumbest of the plumb if he had.

That's tea and it's a maiden over to the end the session. A very good one for England and Chris Woakes, in particular. He took three of the four wickets to fall since lunch.

The ball is softening now which will make it harder for the bowlers but the main worry for England will be a possible injury for Saqib Mahmood. Fingers crossed for good news on that after the interval.

Still some stubborn resistance against the softening ball - as we saw yesterday it's difficult to dislodge lower order batsmen who take a defensive approach.

It's Jack Leach rather than Saqib Mahmood to bowl it...

Maiden from Stokes as he targets Joseph's stumps. The West Indies number nine digs out a yorker to finish the over and England race round to get one more over in before tea.

Ed O'Toole: Feel sorry for Saqib Mahmood. He could be on for a 5for with better fielding placements, and err, fielding.

Mahmood is staying out there so it might just be cramp given the sweltering conditions in Grenada. If that is the case then he'll have time to get fluids on board with the tea break just around the corner.

Worrying signs for England as Saqib Mahmood held his hamstring before that delivery.

  13. WI 134-7published at 49.0 overs

Nearly an inspired bowling change by Root! A hint of movement away from Alzarri Joseph from Mahmood to find the edge... but it it is just wide of the skipper and away for four.

Concern at the end of the over though, Mahmood looks like he might have a problem. Ben Stokes comes over to check but the bowler insists he is OK to bowl the last. He does so but it'll be interesting to see if he bowls the next over from this end.

England still have a healthy lead with three more wickets to get.

Perhaps there was just a little reverse swing for Stokes and having seen that, Root wastes no time in bringing Saqib Mahmood back into the attack.

    Mayers c Mahmood b Stokes 28 (WI 128-7)

Things were just starting to get a little flat but, as he so often does, Ben Stokes makes something happen.

It's a very tame dismissal for Mayers after working so hard to get to this stage as he chips a full delivery to Saqib Mahmood at mid-on. A dolly for his first Test catch.

There didn't appear to be anything special about the delivery from Stokes but he just has that happy knack!

    Mayers 28, Da Silva 6

Good ball to finish from Leach, dragging Da Silva forward and the right-hander rather pushes at it. He's a little fortunate to see the ball shoot off to the left of the fielder at bat-pad. Maiden.

  18. WI 128-6published at 46.0 overs

Ben Stokes returns to the attack and nearly has his second wicket! His fifth ball finds Mayers' outside edge but the ball is just wide of Joe Root at slip and runs away to the fence.

Four from the Leach over, five good balls but one short, wide delivery that Da Silva gladly cuts away past backward point.

Encouragement for the spinner with the last ball though, drawing the big shot from Da Silva. Despite that, it is another review lost for England. They have one remaining.
