Off the outside half of the bat from Mayers, slightly edgier than he'd have wanted but guided nonetheless between slip and gully and away for four. That takes West Indies to three figures.

Six! Banged in short by Woakes and Mayers goes back and hammers it over deep mid-wicket for the first maximum of the innings.

Despite that, I'm reliably informed that Woakes' 3-32 represents his best figures overseas since December 2017.

Maiden from Mahmood. He is going very full, giving the ball every chance to reverse. There is a little bit of tail back into the right-hander but nothing too extravagant as yet.

  4. WI 96-6published at 36.0 overs

The pressure was building on Blackwood in that over. He managed to keep out a delivery that kept low before a thick edge went at a catchable height but through the gap between slip and gully.

The lbw decision was very close but Woakes got the decision from the umpire and that was enough. Joshua da Silva joins Mayers in the middle.

Jermaine Blackwood was possibly unlucky to have that given out by Joel Wilson - it was just clipping leg bail, so the on-field decision stands.

    Blackwood lbw b Woakes 18 (WI 95-6)

It was close but the on-field decision stands! The nip-backer from Woakes struck Blackwood above the knee-roll but was just clipping the top corner of leg stump - umpire's call and perhaps the seamer's luck has turned?

West Indies in trouble. A clenched fist in celebration from Woakes.

Has Woakes got a third wicket here? He raps Blackwood on the pad and the umpire's finger goes up.

It's reviewed, looked a touch high maybe?

  9. dropped catch

Blackwood dropped on 14published at 35.0 overs

    WI 90-5

Change of bowling and a change in approach. Saqib Mahmood is going full and at the stumps, searching for reverse swing, no doubt. He is agonisingly close to striking first ball as Blackwood flicks it legside and it gets to Zak Crawley at short mid-wicket on the half-volley.

Another short mid-wicket is brought in but Blackwood is going to keep trying to work the ball off his pads. He does so safely enough twice in the over, getting two each time.

Dropped! Last ball of over, Blackwood tries to leave but doesn't get the bat out of the way in time, it comes off the bottom of the bat and Foakes is slightly wrong-footed and shells the catch.

Both wickets felt like a bonus for England - ducking with your bat up from Nkrumah Bonner, and Jason Holder's was a loose shot before he got off the mark - he'll be furious with himself.

  11. WI 86-5published at 34.0 overs

Tennis ball bounce for Woakes and the latest bumper sails over Mayers' head and is called wide. Marginal call and one Sir Curtly Ambrose on the TV commentary is not too happy with. Fast bowlers stick together.

England have found the secret. Whatever sleepiness there was in the pitch has been awoken by the England bowlers. Of course, there have been some misjudgments by the West Indies batters too.

  14. WI 85-5published at 33.0 overs

Kyle Mayers is the new batter for the West Indies and I think the left-hander can expect that the full ball will be the surprise delivery.

Stokes does nothing to disprove that idea. England will keeping banging away at this pitch - and why not? It's worked a treat so far.

  15. WI 82-5published at 32.0 overs

How much better will Chris Woakes be feeling now? Of course, those wickets are big for England in the context of this match but they could be even more significant for Woakes' Test career outside of the UK.

He'll need more than just two wickets but it's a good start!

    Holder c Bairstow b Woakes 0 (WI 82-5)

Like London buses for Woakes! After going full for the first couple to Jason Holder, the seamer follows it up with a bouncer and it does the trick.

Holder had little hesitation in going after the short ball but top-edged the pull shot and it was a simple catch for Jonny Bairstow coming in from deep square leg.

  20. wicket

    Bonner c Foakes b Woakes 4 (WI 82-4)

Woakes gets his wicket! It's another short ball, more of a surprise coming from Woakes and Bonner can only glove it behind as he belatedly tries to duck underneath it.

England have the breakthrough they wanted after lunch.
