Has Kyle Jamieson got Ollie Pope lbw?
After a brief chat New Zealand decide to send it upstairs.
Pope gets his bat a little bit jarred against his pad as the ball thuds into the flap of his pad.

Alex Lees plays out a maiden from Trent Boult.
Zak Crawley is deep in conversation on the England balcony. He looks pretty relaxed but I'm sure he's kicking himself for the loose drive that brought about his dismissal.
With Ben Compton and Ben Haines in the run this season he'll be wary of the need to score consistent big runs.

Williamson is still on the attack. There are four slips. He needs wickets. England should be about Even Stevens by the close.

Another maiden for Kyle Jamieson and New Zealand.
Ollie Pope is going to be made to work, as he should, as he looks to prove himself as a three.

Batting at three in England is a specialist position. It's no coincidence England have had successful spells this century with either converted openers (Vaughan, Butcher) or specialist (Trott) batting at three.

During that extremely long over Ollie Pope got off the mark with a pull down to fine leg for a single.
It all feels rather sedate at the moment. England would take a sedate 90 minutes to close now.
We're changing the ball already. We're only in the 19th over.
England had to change it earlier too.
A good start to the summer for the balls.
Here's the wicket of Zak Crawley... he'd looked really good before a similar frailty returned.

Runs!
Alex Lees steers through the slip cordon and picks up four before a wayward bouncer evades Tom Blundell and goes to the fence too.
The poor keeper. They were given as byes and he had absolutely no chance of getting there.

Another maiden. England may need to absorb some pressure for a little while here.
Ollie Pope is currently taking an off-stump guard and he'll be wary of playing away from his body, that has been a downfall of his too.

The pitch has got easier from this morning. If the ball isn't swinging for New Zealand that means a lot of Boult and Southee. I am surprised Jamieson wasn't brought on earlier. It seemed odd he wasn't brought on before De Grandhomme.

A maiden from Kyle Jamieson to Alex Lees.
There's a good yorker in there too, which Lees does well to get his bat down on and dig out.
A flat deck and the sunshine belting down - Lees will be thinking he can go big and consolidate his spot.

Dan: Crawley getting out in the most Crawley way possible there.
Mark Burt: Another typical Crawley innings. Dashing to diabolical. When is he going to develop patience? Such a frustrating player.

That's nice from Alex Lees as he leans into a drive and picks up a single through the covers.
Ollie Pope sees out his first ball. His heart will be pumping. With Harry Brook and Dan Lawrence (when fit) waiting in the wings, Pope will know he needs to make the most of this opportunity.
There aren't many better times than on a placid Lord's deck.
Here's the latest chance for Ollie Pope then. He's in a new position at three - and he's never batted there for Surrey either.
He's had a very good start to the domestic season, notching up 417 runs at 69.5.
Can he make the most of this opportunity?

The opening partnership was the first of 50 or more for England at Lord's since 2017.

That is the first time Crawley had played a drive outside of his eye line. He was playing a long way from his body. It is a huge disappointment. 43 is not enough runs in these conditions.
Crawley c Blundell c Jamieson 43 (Eng 59-1)
Caught behind!
Oh, Zak Crawley. He'd just picked up another boundary with a gorgeous cover drive, but then the big booming drive, away from his body, gets him again.
It's a real undoing of his. He wasn't sure if he'd hit it, he had a detailed chat with Alex Lees, but there is a healthy edge.
That feels like a missed opportunity. He was going really well.
Zak Crawley is enjoying himself so far...
