Nicholas Smith: Instead of making up half an hour at the end of the day when the 90 overs haven’t been bowled, why don’t they start at 10:30 instead so fans don’t have to worry about missing buses/trains at the end of the day. Just a thought.

There's no reason why England can't be consistent with results, especially in home conditions because of their world-class bowling attack.

Stuart Broad and James Anderson are going through some warm-ups on the outfield and look as relaxed as ever. More than 1100 Test wickets between them. They live for this stuff.

Nathan Cole: New Zealand choices of replacements is questionable. How Neil Wagner doesn't get in this team I do not know and that New Zealand tail looks very long.

Fenners: I am unusually optimistic about England's chances in this match. There's a serious chance of wrapping up the series this weekend. Looking forward to Broad steaming in on his own ground. If we could just score some first-innings runs, all would be good...

As mentioned, England are unchanged. New Zealand, on the other hand, make plenty of changes.

The tourists opt for four seamers. Matt Henry is in for Ajaz Patel, Henry Nicholls for Kane Williamson, and Michael Bracewell for Colin de Grandhomme.

England: Alex Lees, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (capt), Ben Foakes (wk), Matthew Potts, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, James Anderson.

New Zealand Tom Latham (capt), Will Young, Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell (wk), Michael Bracewell, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Trent Boult.

  9. 'Disappointing for Kane'published at 10:36 British Summer Time 10 June 2022

New Zealand's stand-in captain Tom Latham: "We were going to have a bowl as well - it's a tough one, a bit of green tinge, but dry as well. Get through the first session and put a score on the board."

On Kane Williamson missing out after testing positive for Covid-19: "Disappointing for Kane but there are opportunities for other guys. We are a proud nation and will play our brand of cricket."

  10. 'Generally the wicket gets better'published at 10:34 British Summer Time 10 June 2022

England captain Ben Stokes: "Generally the wicket tends to get better here as the game goes on here so we want to get them in and put them under pressure.

"Throughout the whole four days [at Lord's] the attitude and commitment impressed me. Neither side took advantage of a situation really and we were going toe-to-toe until the final morning. But I was really impressed. We want to be more positive and keep putting pressure back onto them as much as they can.

"Leachy got passed fit - he was very unfortunate last week."

On suggestions he's not fully fit to bowl: "They are whispers about my side."

  12. Root will go 'miles past' England runs recordpublished at 10:29 British Summer Time 10 June 2022

Joe Root has already cemented his name in the record books, but Sir Alastair Cook says his former teammate will go "miles past" his record for the number of Test runs scored by an England batter..

Root is 2,457 behind Cook's mark of 12,472.

"He is a pleasure to watch, the most complete England batsman I have seen," Cook told BBC Sport.

"The person who could play the most incredible innings was Kevin Pietersen, but for the most complete batsmen in all three forms, it's Root. His consistency is incredible."

  14. Williamson misses out after positive Covid-19 testpublished at 10:23 British Summer Time 10 June 2022

England are unchanged from the last Test, meaning spinner Jack Leach - who was withdrawn on the first day after suffering concussion - has been passed fit to play.

The big news from the New Zealand camp is that captain Kane Williamson has been ruled out after testing positive for Covid-19 last night.

All-rounder Colin de Grandhomme also misses out after suffering a tear in his right heel in the first Test.

Hamish Rutherford comes into the squad, with Tom Latham filling in as skipper.

  15. Last time…published at 10:20 British Summer Time 10 June 2022

Wickets tumbled for both teams on the first couple of days, but England managed a five-wicket triumph over New Zealand at Lord’s to end a run of only one win in 17 Tests.

Joe Root, once again, was England’s saviour. Without the added burden of captaincy, Root scored match-winning century and also became only the second Englishman, after Sir Alastair Cook, to pass 10,000 runs.
