On comes captain Stokes. Can he find the breakthrough? Meanwhile there's a strange whirring sound in my headset.

If you're a young player just starting out in the game I would just make sure you have the reverse sweep in your locker. It causes chaos.

It is a big day for Jack Leach this. He has to produce more consistency than he has so far with Matt Parkinson waiting in the wings.

Back-to-back-to-back boundaries for Devon Conway. Jack Leach is receiving some punishment.

The first is a terrific reverse sweep. The second is too short and clipped into the leg side. And the the third is drilled through cover.

Poor bowling. The lead is now over 100.

Mark Butcher's 173* off 227 balls to chase 315 on the final day at Headingley (2001 Ashes) against Warne, McGrath, Gillespie and Lee.

James Anderson gets decent rise from back of a length, the ball jumping up and taking Conway by surprise.

Another unconvincing lbw shout with one which nips sharply back into Conway and thuds into the pads. It zipped back a long way, too much in fact. No need to review.

Nick: Stokes' 250 against SA at Cape Town in 2016. The second quickest double ton and most sixes ever hit by an England batsman in one innings.

That is a really nice shot. It was a checked drive and a really good use of the feet.

Will Young advances towards Leach and chips him down to the long-on boundary. Intent shown.

And again! This time he lofts it over mid-wicket and it almost has the distance - bouncing just inside the boundary.

    Nine from the over.

James Anderson is zipping them through here!

  10. NZ 67-1published at 27 overs

Superb bowling from James Anderson, creating some heart-in-mouth moments for both batters. A line which lures in Conway, who almost chops on, followed by one which beats the edge of Young's bat.

Dr James Pope: Fascinating chat on TMS about the greatest England Test match innings. In terms of drama, you have to count Atherton vs South Africa at Trent Bridge in 1998.

After all the excitement in Anderson's over, It can be quite tricky live texting a Jack Leach over. It's a maiden. A few deliveries were too short. Little to trouble New Zealand. Batter and bowler just going through the motions, really.

Joe Root has been staring at the dressing room after that appeal, trying to get an indication if he was right or not. Nothing doing, Joe.

Ben Stokes would make a very good umpire. He didn't shift from mid-off, he just said too high.

Another huge appeal from Anderson. This time for lbw. Stokes, for the second time in the over, decides against the review, signalling to his bowler that it was too high. And he's right. Again.

It was a delayed appeal from England but it couldn't have hit anything else. It is the first tricky one for Ben Stokes because he's at mid-off so he wouldn't have been able to hear anything.

Should we? Shouldn't we? Some England fielders and James Anderson think Will Young may have nicked this. It's a rising delivery and Young was attempting the uppercut.

Ben Stokes considers the review but opts against it. Wicketkeeper Ben Foakes showed no emotion. There's no spike on UltraEdge. Good captaining.

Jack Leach has been a little short so far. It seems like every ball you can get back and put it away on the off side.

Surely Graham Gooch's 333 against India at Lord's in 1990 has to be surely up there as one of the greatest innings of all time. And he even had time to score a century in the second innings as well!

Ha ha. I didn't think Monty would be making an appearance in this thread today.

Will Young, just like Conway did in the previous Leach over, almost chops on. Conway then plays a delightful reverse sweep.

    Time for drinks.
