Stumped
There was a special guest on this week's Stumped podcast: West Indies legend Chris Gayle!
The self-proclaimed 'Universe Boss' is the ambassador for a new white-ball tournament called 'The 6ixty', which takes place in the Caribbean next week.
He certainly had some interesting things to say about the rise of franchise cricket and the future of some of the longer forms of the game.
"What the people need to understand is that the game has changed," said the 42-year-old. "It’s business-orientated now. We’ve talked about The 6ixty, you can see it with The Hundred as well. The game is spreading more to the business side of things.
"It’s beneficial to the players as well. You have to look at that too. We have to look at the bigger picture. It’s all about business. The whole ‘Gentleman’s game’ kind of changed a bit. It’s not really that gentleman’s sport we used to have. It’s a business sport and you’re going to have people pumping money into these new events. The players are going to have to choose what they want to do."
