It's not been the best start for England with the bat but the good news is that Joe Root is still there.
The umpires will take another inspection at 17:25 BST.
So if it could just like, not rain before then, that would be lovely.
There's blue sky and - dare I say it - the covers are starting to be rolled off.
We'll bring you any official news shortly.

Halii_192: I live in Birmingham and the sun is starting to creep out, fingers crossed!
It has been a frustrating day to say the least but at least we had some fun earlier.
Treat yourselves to Stuart Broad conceding 35 from one over with most of the runs coming from the bat of none other than Jasprit Bumrah.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Thanks, Tim!
I'll do my best. I don't have much news but what I can say is that the sky in Birmingham looks brighter than it did an hour ago.
Slow progress, I know, but it's something.
As I'm a rain jinx, and in a bid to change our luck, I'm going to hand over to my colleague Ffion Wynne to guide you through the next few hours. I'm sure we'll have some more play before the day is done.
We will have another pitch inspection at 17:00. There's not quite as many umbrellas up now so the rain is easing at Edgbaston.

Tom McCarron: My Dad (who is 77 today) Isn't on Twitter and wanted to say how interested and grateful he was for TMS lunchtime chat on prostrate cancer. From experience he agrees men should get tested. Thanks TMS! A great discussion.
The umpires are currently out in the middle having a look at conditions.
The India stand-in skipper isn't having a bad day is he?
If it's still raining at 16:30 BST then we will take an early tea.

It is pretty grey. Dare I say it's a typical Birmingham day.

Edgbaston looks rather gloomy. The sky has completely filled in and rain is falling steadily.
Ollie Pope was dismissed during those nine or so overs of play sandwiched in between rain breaks. Here's a clip of his wicket.
All-rounder Alice Davidson-Richards has been recalled to the England squad for three one-day internationals against South Africa.
Read MoreVirat Kohli gives Jonny Bairstow a hug and cracks a funny as the players depart from the field in the rain. It's looking pretty miserable weather wise at the moment.
The forecast is for it to brighten up later on, but you could forgive some of the punters for heading home at this point.

As has been the pattern, we're seeing another interruption. The covers are being rushed on. Just one ball in the over and they're off.
Another shower passes over the ground so the players head to the pavilion to seek sanctuary in the dressing rooms. Meanwhile the groundstaff get to work on covering everything up.
It looks pretty grey and the brollies are going up around the ground. It's been a quite frustrating day of interruptions.
