We had an absolute thriller at Taunton where Essex squeezed home by one wicket on 84-9 despite Craig Overton taking 13 wickets in the match (Mark Steketee provided a consolatory word to the Somerset paceman at the end, captured in our photo of the day).

Not to be outdone, Jamie Overton contributed eight wickets as he ended up on a winning side as Surrey crushed Hampshire by an innings.

There was plenty of good batting on day three too, with Kent's Ben Compton making his second hundred of the season, Sussex's Tom Haines hitting his highest first-class score and Michael Jones scoring a maiden ton for Durham.

We will have five games on the final day, with Lancashire in a very strong position against Kent, so please join us tomorrow from 10.30.

All over in the last game of the day to finish and Notts have a lead of 147 to take into the final day tomorrow.

Joey Evison (25*) and Brett Hutton (13*) will pick up where they left off and hope to push that lead closer to 200.

Ben Duckett will be disappointed to have fallen just five runs short of a century, with his wicket claimed by the pick of Glamorgan's bowlers Timm van der Gugten, who has four wickets for the innings and six for the game.

It's well-poised for an exciting final day tomorrow!

    Notts 302 & 224-8 v Glamorgan 379

The only game still being played is at Trent Bridge where Joey Evison and Brett Hutton have been frustrating the Glamorgan bowlers in the closing stages.

But Timm van der Gugten has marked a major milestone today as his four dismissals today have taken him to 200 first-class wickets.

  5. Stumps at the Riversidepublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Durham 428 & 239-2 v Leicestershire 273

Durham play out the final 11 balls of the day's play following the dismissal of Michael Jones for 108 and will sleep on a 394-run lead overnight.

Judging by the way the pitch has played today, it's going to take some fine bowling by the home attack to force a win.

Matty Potts took 6-58 in Leicestershire's first innings and will be looking for more as the visitors face a final-day survival mission.

  6. Stumps at Canterburypublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Kent 260 & 81-6 (f/o) v Lancashire 506 (Kent trail by 165 runs)

Another day to forget for Kent who lost 13 wickets today as Lancashire enforced the follow-on.

There wasn't much to cheer for them but Ben Compton's continued excellence with the bat was definitely one thing to celebrate as he scored a century in the first innings and is unbeaten on 20 in the second.

Matt Parkinson has been the pick of the Lancashire bowlers with a total of six wickets across the two innings.

The visitors will return tomorrow morning confident of taking the four remaining wickets without their openers having to get the pads on.

  7. Stumps at Bristolpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Gloucestershire 227 & 253-6 v Yorkshire 376

    Edward Seabourne
    BBC Radio Bristol commentator

Another ton from James Bracey, and the meaning of this one to him was clear for all at Bristol to see .

Having been struck a fearsome blow on the helmet by Haris Rauf, he recovered his composure and continued on his way, reaching 112 not out at the close.

However, Gloucestershire have as yet been unable to provide enough support to build a lead which on a slowing surface might prove tricky for Yorkshire to chase.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Jones lbw Rhodes 108 (Durham 505-8 dec & 238-2 v Leics 273)

Michael Jones departs, lbw after playing slightly across the line to a straight one from George Jones. A rather apologetic way to end a superb 141-ball innings, which included three sixes and four fours.

Scott Borthwick comes out to join Keegan Petersen, who is on 37. The Durham lead is now 393. Surely a declaration before the final day's play.

    Durham 428 & 229-1 v Leicestershire 273

We were expecting a Durham declaration but it doesn't look like there's going to be one and that has given opener Michael Jones the chance to complete a maiden first-class century.

The right-hander reaches three figures off 136 balls with a boundary through the covers off spinner George Rhodes.

A big moment for the 24-year-old from Ormskirk and Durham's lead is now a massive 384.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:10 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Stevens lbw Parkinson 1 (Kent 260 & 79-6 (f/o) v Lancashire 506)

Matt Parkinson has six wickets in the game after dismissing Darren Stevens, who has been out lbw in both innings.

Stevens moves forward to fend the delivery away but gets the line wrong and it looks a straightforward lbw decision for the umpire.

    Kent are still 167 behind.

  11. Stumps at Derbypublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Derbyshire 505-8 dec v Sussex 174 & 278-2 (Sussex trail by 53 runs)

Tom Haines will have his career best score of 164 to build upon on Sunday morning in what has been a much improved second innings performance from Sussex.

Cheteshwar Pujara will join him after finishing on 57 not out as Sussex close on 278-2, trailing Derbyshire by just over 50 runs.

It looked like it might not make it into the fourth day when Derbyshire enforced the follow-on but Sussex have dug deep to make a game of it.

  12. Postpublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Gloucs 227 & 242-6 v Yorkshire 376

The second new ball is due with four overs to play at Bristol.

This could be a crucial mini-session - if Yorkshire can nip one or two out, they will definitely fancy their chances on Sunday.

    Gloucestershire lead by 93.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Robinson lbw Ali 11 (Kent 260 & 70-5 (f/o) v Lancashire 506)

Oliver Robinson is trapped lbw by Hassan Ali who claims his third wicket of the match.

That brings Darren Stevens to the fold in the closing stages.

Lancashire have taken a lot of wickets today but one person they haven't been able to get the number of is Ben Compton, who scored an unbeaten century in the first innings and is 18 not out in the second.

    Kent trail by 176.

  14. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Notts 302 & 198-8 v Glamorgan 379

Timm van der Gugten is the man doing the damage for Glamorgan as they seek to bowl Notts out this evening.

He's taken four wickets this session and his side need two more in the closing stages.

Notts' lead over Glamorgan currently stands at 121.

  15. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Gloucs 227 & 235-6 v Yorkshire 376

Gloucestershire surpass their first innings score and it looks like they are playing for stumps now with only seven overs remaining.

James Bracey is 107 not and Zafar Gohar is on eight - the lead after Haris Rauf concedes four byes from two successive deliveries is now 86.

  16. 50 runs

for Cheteshwar Pujarapublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Derbyshire 505-8 dec v Sussex 174 & 270-2

A first Sussex half-century for Cheteshwar Pujara under and no mean feat in the circumstances.

He's obviously been inspired by captain Tom Haines who is 157 not out as Sussex move within 61 runs of Derbyshire's mammoth first-innings total.

  17. SURREY WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 17 RUNSpublished at 17:39 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Surrey 467 v Hampshire 223 & 227

    Jordan ClarkImage source, Getty Images

Jordan Clark is on a roll and gets his fourth wicket, having Mohammad Abbas caught by Ollie Pope at second slip to seal a big Surrey win.

Abbas departed without scoring from 12 balls and Hants fell 17 runs short of making Surrey have to come back in to bat a second time.

A comprehensive victory built on a big first innings score, which included 127 from Ollie Pope, backed-up by some wonderful bowling from Jamie Overton and Jordan Clark.

  18. Postpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Kent 260 & 61-4 v Lancashire 506

Survival is the name of the game at Canterbury, where Ben Compton and Ollie Robinson are clinging on in the hope of preventing any further Lancashire wickets before the close.

Compton is still 16 not out and Robinson has 10, with their side 184 behind.

  19. Postpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Surrey 467 v Hampshire 223 & 226-9 (f/o)

Ben Brown and Mohammad Abbas are the last line of defence for Hampshire as they try to avoid an innings defeat inside three days.

There are an awful lot of dot balls as the duo negotiate Surrey's bowling attack.

Jamie Overton, James Taylor and Jordan Clark each have three wickets and will fancy a fourth to get this one done and dusted.

Hants need 18 runs to make Surrey bat again.

  20. 150 runs

for Tom Hainespublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Derbyshire 505-8 dec v Sussex 174 & 250-2

There's a lot of talk about English county pitches being too bowler-friendly, but Derbyshire's attack probably don't think so now - despite being abkle to make Sussex follow on earlier in the day.

Tom Haines passes 150 with two runs off Sam Conners and he is closing in on his career-best score of 156 against Middlesex. His side, though, still trail by 81 runs.
