    Bell Drummond c Salt b Lamb 9 (Kent 260 & 24-2 (f/o) v Lancashire 506)

A slump of the shoulders from Daniel Bell-Drummond as he sees the umpire raise his finger.

It's another soft dismissal for Kent as Bell-Drummond chases a ball down the leg side and gets a little something on it, but it's enough for Phil Salt to claim a smart catch.

Kent are still behind by 222 runs and it all looks rather forlorn for them out there now.

    Gloucs 227 & 150-5 v Yorkshire 376

James Bracey collects two runs at the start of a new Haris Rauf over at Bristol and Gloucestershire are now in the red, or is it in the black? Whatever your colour of choice, they have cleared the first-innings deficit and Bracey is 70 not out.

A couple of moments later, though, and Rauf dings the left-hander on the helmet with a short one. There is a delay in line with concussion protocols.

    Surrey 467 v Hampshire 223 & 180-4 (f/o)

James Vince despatches James Taylor for four in consecutive deliveries to bring up his half-century.

Hampshire are now behind by 64 runs.

We brought you news earlier on of opener Ben Compton's unbeaten century for Kent (he's now batting again after they were asked to follow on by Lancashire).

Here are a few words of praise from another Compton that knows a thing or two about what some may regard as 'old-fashioned' batting.

    Higgins c Duke b Bess 24 (Gloucs 227 & 138-5 v Yorkshire 376)

......Ryan Higgins departs, caught behind by Harry Duke as he attempts to square cut. It's a big blow for Gloucestershire with the tea interval only a few minutes away..

Tom Lace comes out to bat - on a pair - with his team still 11 runs behind.

Back-to-back leg-side boundaries by James Bracey off Haris Rauf, the first of which posts a half-century partnership with Ryan Higgins.

Bracey advances to 62 and Higgins is 24 not out but........

As you'll have just read, Sussex's Tom Haines has reached a century to put his side on 162-2 as they try to reduce the gap to Derbyshire's first innings total which currently stands at 169.

Nottinghamshire lead Glamorgan by 41 runs with much of the credit for that going to Ben Duckett who is unbeaten on 78.

Durham openers Sean Dickson and Michael Jones are unbeaten and have stretched their side's lead over Leicestershire to 185 runs.

Tom Haines was the Championship's leading run scorer in 2021 and there is his first hundred of the new campaign as he lashes Anuj Dal to extra cover for the 14th four of his innings.

He probably feels he owes his side a few after a poor call saw Tom Alsop run out for 16 with the total on 145.

Cheteshwar Pujara is Haines' new partner and Sussex are 169 short of avoiding an innings defeat.

    Crawley c Salt b Balderson 5 (Kent 260 & 7-1 (f/o) v Lancashire 506)

Not one Zak Crawley want to see again.

It's a poor dismissal from the England man as he goes to play at the ball then pulls the bat back but it's too late and it's already found the edge behind.

It looked a nervy, uncertain shot and Kent are already a man down.

George Balderson took the last three wickets of the first innings and now has the first of the second to add to his collection.

    Gloucs 227 & 119-4 v Yorkshire 376

James Bracey brings up a well-played fifty from 102 balls with an easy single off Dom Bess. He has found the boundary five time so far and his side are now only 30 runs behind.

    Dawson c Patel b Overton 3 (Surrey 467 v Hampshire 223 & 155-4 (f/o)

Jamie Overton (him again) bangs in a short ball and Liam Dawson attempts to pull it to the boundary but only succeeds in finding Ryan Patel in the deep and he's on his way.

Dawson didn't quite get the technique right as he ducked slightly before making contact and the strike didn't carry enough power to reach the boundary.

    Gloucestershire 227 & 106-4 v Yorkshire 376

After 46 overs of non-stop seam bowling, Yorkshire have now turned to spinner Dom Bess to try and force another breakthrough at Bristol.

James Bracey is batting well and takes a single to progress to 46 not out and Ryan Higgins adds three runs later in the over.

Gloucestershire need another 43 to clear their deficit.

    Weatherley c Foakes b Overton 87 (Surrey 467 v Hampshire 223 & 144-3 (f/o)

I might create a keyboard shortcut for the name Overton after how many times it's been typed today.

After Craig's heroics earlier it's Jamie Overton on this occasion who has done for Joe Weatherley.

The Hampshire opener batted well and scored quickly for his 87 off 96 balls before tickling one through to Ben Foakes behind the stumps.

Hants are trailing by 93 but have James Vince and Liam Dawson at the crease.

  14. KENT ALL OUT FOR 260published at 14:59 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Kent 260 v Lancashire 506

George Balderson removes Jackson Bird's off stump and has done a great job in clearing up the Kent tail in Canterbury, taking the last three wickets.

The hosts trail by 246 and Lancashire will be enforcing the follow-on.

  15. Potts stars for Durhampublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Durham 428 v Leicestershire 273

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle commentator

Matty Potts bowled really well today and finished with a career-best 6-58 as Leicestershire were dismissed for 273.

Despite the visitors having a deficit of 155 Durham have decided not to enforce the follow-on. Scott Borthwick has obviously decided to give his bowlers a rest after the Leicestershire first innings lasted 111 overs.

It has been hard work for the bowlers on a decent batting track and it needed an X-Factor performance from someone like Potts to make the difference.

How Durham go about things this afternoon will be interesting. There are 52 overs left in the day but I think they would need to give themselves more than the final day to try and bowl the Foxes out for a second time.

  16. 100 runs

for Ben Comptonpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Kent 260-9 v Lancashire 506

    He's done it at last!

Ben Compton was in the nervous nineties - actually a nervous 99 - for quite some time but he's got over the line for a century.

He opened the batting and has held firm while his team mates have come and gone.

    A great knock.

  17. Notts get their noses in frontpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 16 April 2022

    Notts 302 & 82-3 v Glamorgan 379

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Nottinghamshire moved into the lead with three wickets down against Glamorgan as they fought back from a dreadful first hour of day three, having conceded a first innings lead of 77.

Ben Duckett and Joe Clarke added 63 but Clarke was becalmed after lunch and edged behind for 30 in a fine second spell from Michael Neser.

Duckett was looking to be more aggressive and pushed Notts into the lead in partnership with Stephen Mullaney, who had to promote himself to five with Joey Evison missing from the field at the start of play.

Earlier Michael Hogan helped Timm van der Gugten add 25 for the last wicket before ripping out Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater for ducks, but a fight-back always looked probable in the sunshine on a good batting pitch.

    Milnes c Salt b Balderson 22 (Kent 250-9 v Lancashire 506)

A run of 20 dot balls is brought to an end with George Balderson having Matt Milnes caught by Phil Salt.

And with the next ball Balderson dismisses Nathan Gilchrist but the bowler misses out on a hat-trick as new man Jackson Bird finds the boundary.

Ben Compton has been on 99 for what seems like an eternity - he needs to make sure he gets on strike to get to that century before it's too late.

Sussex's opening pair of Tom Haines (80*) and Ali Orr (28*) are proving a tough nut to crack for Derbyshire who would have wanted a bit more progress than this when they enforced the follow-on.

Haines is the main aggressor as Sussex try bite off a bit more of the Derbyshire lead, which now stands at 214.

Leicestershire are trailing Durham by 168 at Chester-le-Street and have just lost Will Davies to go nine wickets down.

Matty Potts is doing most of the damage with the ball and has figures of 6-52.

At Trent Bridge, Notts are closing in on Glamorgan's first-innings total - they are on 67-3 and 11 runs behind.

Michael Neser broke the promising Ben Duckett/Joe Clarke partnership as it was building nicely to give the Welsh side a boost.
