    Surrey 467 v Hampshire 223 & 80-2 (f/o)

Hampshire have made a good start to the afternoon session and that's mainly down to Joe Weatherley who has just reached a half-century.

He's scored quickly since his side were put back in to bat and reached 50 off 62 balls with five fours and a six thrown into the mix.

Hants were wobbling a bit after losing two wickets before lunch but appear to be back on track.

    What a morning's cricket!

Craig Overton was immense with match figures of 13-87 and Peter Siddle not far behind. Can anyone have produced figures like that and ended up on the losing side?

In the end it wasn't quite enough as Adam Rossington guided Essex home by the narrowest of margins. Close for Somerset, but no cigar.

    Gloucs 227 & 60-2 v Yorkshire 376

Jordan Thompson sends down a long half-volley and James Bracey seizes on it to get the Gloucestershire scoreboard moving after lunch at Bristol.

The boundary is the left-hander's fourth in his 28 not out and the home side are now 89 away from clearing the first-innings deficit.

    Lancashire 506 v Kent 213-6

Darren Stevens is at the crease for Kent just two weeks short of his 46th birthday - bet he's fed up with people mentioning his age - and he turns a delivery from Tom Bailey away for his first boundary.

Ben Compton has yet to add to his 91 not out at the other end and Kent are 292 runs in arrears.

A free gift from Jordan Clark enables Joe Weatherley to bring up Hampshire's 50 at the start of the afternoon session.

It's short and wide and the Hampshire opener despatches it for four as he moves on to 30 not out.

Matty Potts picked up his fourth wicket of the morning just before lunch as Ed Barnes was caught in the slips for 15.

It was a tag team effort with Scott Borthwick only able to push the ball into the air, before David Bedingham took it safely.

Colin Ackermann earlier made 81 for Leicestershire, who are 196 behind with Harry Swindells 26 not out.

A vastly improved batting performance from Sussex with skipper Tom Haines leading from the front.

His team having, as expected, been asked to follow on, Haines has been very positive punishing anything short or wide in his unbeaten 64.

Derbyshire have switched the bowling at regular intervals, and with some signs of turn off-spinner Alex Thomson could be key for the hosts

    Breaking

    Somerset 109 & 154 v Essex 180 & 84-9

A low-key finish to an astonishing morning's cricket as a leg bye sees Essex scrape to victory at Taunton.

Somerset's Craig Overton certainly doesn't deserve to be on the losing side, adding 6-30 to his first-innings 7-57 for career-best match figures of 13-87.

Only three Essex batters reached double figures in their run-chase and loan signing Adam Rossington was 29 not out at the end.

It's their first win of the season, they take 19 points and Somerset three.

Surrey well on top after enforcing the follow-on and then collecting a couple of Hampshire wickets in the first 11 overs of their second innings.

The visitors are 198 behind and need a large partnership from Joe Weatherley, who is 25 not out, and captain James Vince to give them hope of extricating themselves from this situation.

Jamie Overton took 5-54 in the first innings and will be looking to add a few more after brother Craig's 13-wicket match haul for Somerset at Taunton.
