    Taylor c Harmer b Steketee 7 (Essex v Northants 233-7)

Essex have snaffled that extra wicket.

Matt Steketee summons that little bit extra effort and he draws Tom Taylor into an edge.

But from there Simon Harmer grabs it one handed as it flies towards him at second slip with Sir Alastair Cook almost diving across him - superb work in the slips.

for Robinsonpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Yorkshire v Kent 252-5

Ollie Robinson becomes the third Kent batsman to pass fifty today.

    It's the 12th first-class half-century for the 23-year-old wicketkeeper.

The skies are still overcast at Headingley, not brilliant conditions for batting, but Robinson and his pals have led the Kent fighback from 20-3.

    Gloucestershire v Surrey 250-4

Sam Curran wants to win his place back in England's Test team and he means business this season.

After 80 and 33 in his comeback game last week, he has carried on in the same vein in Bristol.

Curran is now 39 not out as Surrey bring up their second batting point and this fifth wicket partnership is worth 62.

Jamie Smith is now on 92 and only eight short of a century.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Bell-Drummond c Haris Rauf b Revis 109 (Yorkshire v Kent 227-5)

Daniel Bell-Drummond miscues a pull shot off Matt Revis and is caught at mid-on.

It ends a fine innings from the Kent batsmen and Yorkshire will sniff more wickets before stumps.

  8. Division Two latestpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

Notts are in sight of Worcestershire's first-innings 159. Half-centuries for Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett have helped them to 155-3, although both went shortly after reaching their fifties.

Derbyshire's batters are still in control against Glamorgan at 275-2. Brooke Guest has an unbeaten century and Wayne Madsen is on 70.

Mark Stoneman has brought up a rapid half-century for Middlesex who are 82-1 replying to Leicestershire's first-innings 149 all out.

And Sussex are 31-0 after bowling out Durham for 223.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    McManus c Harmer b Snater 7 (Essex v Northants 222-6)

Stay away from Lewis McManus in the Northants dressing room for the next few minutes!

He launches a booming drive off Shane Snater and edges it at speed into the slips where Simon Harmer grabs it at second.

After hanging around for 37 balls, that really was at odds with what the wicketkeeper had done before then.

A second wicket of the innings for Essex's John Rambo impersonator Snater!

    Hampshire 246 v Lancashire 0-0

Lancashire openers Luke Wells and George Balderson have made their way to the middle for a potential 17 overs this evening.

The cloud from this morning has now given way to some pleasant sunshine at the Rose Bowl.

  11. 50 runs

for Procterpublished at 17:16 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Essex v Northants 215-5

Luke Procter is raising his bat to acknowledge a really dogged effort for his team.

He has stuck around for 134 balls and struck four boundaries and he is slowly putting Northants into a decent position.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Abell c Burgess b Yates 70 (Somerset 277-3 v Warwickshire)

Strangled down the leg-side with his first ball!

Part-time spinner Rob Yates comes into the attack, Tom Abell tries to clip him away first up but gets a snick and Michael Burgess takes the catch behind the stumps.

    What a bonus for Warwickshire!

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

Abbas lbw b Ali 0 (Hampshire 246 all out v Lancashire)

Gubbins was right to put his foot on the accelerator when Mohammad Abbas came in.

The last man offers no shot to Pakistan colleague Hassan Ali and he is absolutely plumb LBW.

Gubbins finishes 101 not out while Ali ends with 5-45, his second five-wicket haul in three games for the Red Rose.

Hants end just four runs short of a second batting point, but it's a full three with the ball for the visitors.

23 overs scheduled to be bowled.

  15. 100 runs

100 for Gubbinspublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Hampshire 245-9 v Lancashire

    Yes he can!

Nick Gubbins only needs one ball to do it as he carves Ali down past backward point for four for a magnificent hundred.

When Lancashire were on top this morning, he hung in there and has fought back superbly this afternoon. A terrific Championship knock.

  16. The nervous 90spublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Hampshire 241-9 v Lancashire

With only no.11 Mohammad Abbas for company, Nick Gubbins knows he has to put his foot down to reach 100.

He's taken seven off the spin of Luke Wells and has crashed a four off Hassan Ali.

Can the Hampshire man get his hundred?

    Somerset 267-2 v Warwickshire

Warwickshire's bowlers have definitely tightened up since tea.

Tom Abell and Tom Banton are content to just knock it around for singles at the moment with just 20 runs scored in the 10 overs bowled in this final session.

WICKETpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Abbott c Salt b Ali 0 (Hampshire 230-9 v Lancashire)

I hope you didn't expect Kyle Abbott to stick around!

The South Africa bowler remains without a run to his name this season and lasts just two balls. It's catching practice for Phil Salt and a fourth wicket of the innings for Hassan Ali.

It's also a fourth duck in a row for Abbott who's usually pretty handy with the bat.

  19. Division Two updatepublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

Elsewhere in Division Two, Notts have lost Haseeb Hameed for 53 but are in a strong position on 119-2 in reply to Worcestershire's 159 all out.

Middlesex are 37-0 at Lord's after bowling out Leicestershire for 149 before tea.

And Durham's Liam Trevaskis was finally out for 88 at Sussex. His side are now on 221-9.

  20. wicket

    Fuller b Wells 55 (Hampshire 229-8 v Lancashire)

    James Fuller's cameo is over!

He swipes one off Luke Wells for another four, but when he tries it again the next ball, he misses it and the ball hit the stumps.

Still, a Championship best for him for Hampshire as he has dragged his side towards respectability and in quick time.
