    Weatherley c Salt b Bailey 1 (Hampshire 5-1 v Lancashire)

It's not Anderson with the breakthrough at the Rose Bowl but his new-ball partner Tom Bailey.

Classic English seam bowling from Bailey here. He beats Joe Weatherley on the inside with one ball and gets an outside edge from the batter with the next one and Phil Salt does the rest with the gloves.

This could be a tricky session for Hampshire.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad are both bowling at the moment.

    Hampshire 4-0 v Lancashire

The first meeting of these two counties since that thriller in Liverpool in the final game of last season where Lancashire's one-wicket win ended Hampshire's chances of being County Champions.

Here at the Rose Bowl, Hants have elected to bat, but they have the substantial obstacle of Jimmy Anderson to overcome.

Anderson has opened with two maidens - no surprise there - and he is opening the bowling with Tom Bailey as both Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson are rested. Rob Jones is the other player to come in.

    Notts v Worcestershire 8-0

Stuart Broad concedes eight runs off his first over of the season, including an unconvincing pull to the rope by Jake Libby.

The England paceman will fancy wickets on a green pitch at Trent Bridge.

Some breaking news to bring you... Ben Stokes has been confirmed as England's new Test captain.

He'll replace Joe Root who stepped down after the series defeat in the West Indies.

    Yorkshire v Kent 0-0

England's Zak Crawley is in the middle for Kent alongside Ben Compton.

Crawley is only averaging 23.75 with the bat so far this season. Could do with a few runs here, but it won't be easy under leaden skies at Headingley.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Vasconcelos c Critchley b S Cook 0 (Northants 0-1 v Essex)

What a start for Essex as they strike after just three balls!

Sam Cook coming round the wicket to left-hander Ricardo Vasconcelos draws the batter into an edge and Matt Critchley does the rest at third slip with a sharp catch low down.

    How things stand

Surrey have been the early pacesetters in Division One, winning two of their opening three matches including a tense three-wicket victory against struggling Somerset last time out.

Lancashire have also enjoyed a fine start to the campaign, beating Kent and Gloucestershire, and scoring over 500 in the first innings both times.

In Division Two, leaders Nottinghamshire and second-placed Derbyshire are separated by a point at the top while injury-hit Sussex are bottom of the table.

  11. Broad back for Nottspublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

England paceman Stuart Broad is in the Nottinghamshire side for the first time this season.

The 35-year-old has not played since England's defeat by Australia at Hobart in the fifth Test in mid January.

And he'll be into the action early too at Trent Bridge. Notts have won the toss and chosen to bowl.
