for Bell-Drummondpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Yorkshire v Kent 197-4

Daniel Bell-Drummond follows up his 149 against Hampshire last time out with another century at Headingley.

This one has been arguably more impressive after his side were 20-3.

172 balls to get there, but he'll want plenty more to put Kent in a strong position. The game's still in the balance.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Keogh c&b Critchley 22 (Essex v Northants 160-4)

    Brilliant catch from Matt Critchley!

Bowling his leg-spinners, Critchley dives low to his left to snaffle a superb one-handed catch to dismiss Rob Keogh after the batter had tried to play one past mid-off off the back foot.

    And that is tea.

  3. Postpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Hampshire 158-7 v Lancashire

Very positive intent from new man at the crease, James Fuller, as he hits Hassan Ali for three successive fours.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Barker c Anderson b Ali 11 (Hampshire 146-7 v Lancashire)

Hassan Ali has his third of the innings now, as well as Jimmy Anderson.

He gets left-hander Keith Barker trying to play through leg and the ball loops up for the easiest possible catch to Anderson at mid-off.

    Lancs now into the tail.

Leicestershire's last-wicket pair Callum Parkinson and Beuran Hendricks are frustrating Middlesex with a stand worth 37 - the highest of the innings. The Foxes are 147-9 at Lord's.

Derbyshire are going along nicely against Glamorgan on 184-2 with Brooke Guest unbeaten on 65.

Notts openers Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed are off to a decent start after Worcestershire were all out for 159. The hosts are 24-0 in reply at Trent Bridge.

Liam Trevaskis is leading a fightback for Durham at Sussex. His unbeaten 71 has helped Durham recover from 75-6 to 184-7.

    Somerset 201-1 v Warwickshire

200 up for Somerset and a first batting bonus point.

Warwickshire are really toiling in the field on a chilly day in Taunton. A wicket would warm them up a bit, but hard to see where it's coming from at the moment.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Smithpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Gloucestershire v Surrey 151-3

A pull through mid-wicket for two brings up a half-century for Jamie Smith. It has come off 117 balls with eight fours.

In the team in place of Ben Foakes, the wicket-keeper is doing a fine job, alongside Ollie Pope.

This stand is threatening to become a dangerous one from Gloucestershire's point of view.

  8. Postpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Essex v Northants 147-3

A bit of an arm wrestle right now at Chelmsford as the two sides battle for the upper hand.

Rob Keogh and Luke Procter are both into the teens as Northants look to put together a second substantial partnership of the innings.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Organ c Jones b Anderson 42 (Hampshire 132-6 v Lancashire)

Lancashire need a breakthrough, so step forward Jimmy Anderson!

Felix Organ had batted well, but he is undone by a short ball from Anderson, which gets big on him and it ends up looping into the hands of Rob Jones at leg slip.

Smart bowling from the England legend, and good captaincy from Dane Vilas to have the man in catching there.

  10. 100 runs

for Renshawpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Somerset 180-1 v Warwickshire

When you're struggling at the foot of the table, you need your openers to step up and Matt Renshaw has done just that for Somerset.

The Australian goes to his 14th first-class century off 158 balls.

    Fantastic knock.

    Gloucestershire v Surrey 139-3

Mohammad Amir drops short and Jamie Smith crunches it off the back foot through square for four to bring up the 100 partnership for the fourth wicket.

These two are going along very nicely for Surrey.

  12. Postpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Hampshire 129-5 v Lancashire

With no Matt Parkinson in the side, Lancashire have turned to Luke Wells to provide a bit of spin.

He opens with a maiden as Lancs search for a first wicket after lunch.

WICKETpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Cox lbw b Bess 68 (Yorkshire v Kent 153-4)

Dom Bess strikes with his fourth ball!

The spinner traps Jordan Cox lbw to end an excellent stand of 133 with Daniel Bell-Drummond.

    Bell-Drummond is 29 away from making back-to-back first-innings centuries.

  14. 50 runs

for Gubbinspublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Hampshire 120-5 v Lancashire

It's a streaky shot which flies over the slips as he tries to turn one through square, but it's a fine knock from number three Nick Gubbins.

He has placed a high value on his wicket, taking 134 balls, and he is dragging Hampshire towards a competitive score.

  15. Pears all outpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Notts v Worcs 159

Luke Fletcher finishes the Worcestershire innings, having Dillon Pennington caught behind.

Dane Paterson finishes with a career-best 8-52. Outstanding spell from the 33-year-old.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Young lbw b S Cook 63 (Essex v Northants 115-3)

Opener Will Young shoulders arms to Sam Cook and is adjudged leg before by umpire Nigel Llong.

Young lasted 145 balls for a good 63 but those two wickets since lunch have brought Essex back into the match.

  17. 50 runs

for Popepublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Gloucestershire v Surrey 110-3

Ollie Pope tucks one through mid-wicket off Ryan Higgins to bring up his half-century. It has arrived from 103 balls with six fours.

It's a second fifty of the summer, but can he turn it into a second century?

  18. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Somerset 157-1 v Warwickshire

Matt Renshaw hits Craig Miles for four, his 15th boundary, to move to 90.

The Aussie has an excellent conversion rate - 13 of his 26 first-class half-centuries he's turned into hundreds.

  19. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Notts v Worcs 151-9

Stuart Broad has replaced Dane Paterson.

Maybe a switch of ends for the South African as he chases his ninth wicket of the innings?

Or maybe he's knackered after 15 overs!

  20. Career-best for Patersonpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 28 April 2022

    Notts v Worcs 138-9

Dane Paterson bowls Charlie Morris and now has 8-47. It's the first time he's taken eight wickets in an innings.

Stunning spell either side of lunch.
