  1. Milestone for Masoodpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

    Derbyshire 18-1 v Sussex

Shan Masood has been some player for Derbyshire in both red-ball and white-ball cricket this summer.

No surprise really, he's a class act.

And he's proven that once again by becoming the first player to pass 1,000 County Championship runs this season.

Masood is unbeaten on 12 although Derbyshire have lost their other opener, Billy Godleman, caught by Tom Alsop off the bowling of Sean Hunt.

  2. Surrey not messing aboutpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

    Surrey 28-0 v Kent

Almost a white-ball start from Surrey, 28 without loss after five overs - Rory Burns has 18, Ryan Patel 10.

Before this week, Surrey were unbeaten in all formats of the game this summer but they have since suffered back-to-back T20 Blast losses.

Not affecting the collective mentality here though.

    WICKET - Browne b Abbott 0published at 11:17 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

    Essex 7-1 v Hampshire

Division One title hopefuls Hampshire have claimed an early wicket at Chelmsford.

Essex opener Nick Browne falls for a 14-ball duck, bowled by evergreen South African Kyle Abbott.

It's a third duck in Browne's past five first-class matches after falling without score against both Warwickshire and Yorkshire.

  4. wicket

    WICKET - Vasconcelos c Sibley b H Brookes 5published at 11:13 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

    Northants 5-1 v Warwickshire

Early strike for Warwickshire at Wantage Road.

Northamptonshire skipper Ricardo Vasconcelos won the toss and chose to bat. But then it all went wrong for him as he was out in the second over - as Henry Brookes found his edge.

The Bears have made three changes, having brought in Aussie paceman Nathan McAndrew, as well as Jacob Bethell and Chris Benjamin.

  5. Gloucestershire off to solid startpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

Division One bottom club Gloucestershire won the toss at Nevil Road and opted to bat against Lancashire.

Openers George Scott and Chris Dent have negotiated the first two overs from Tom Bailey and New Zealander Will Williams.

  6. Earliest "all-run four" ever?published at 11:10 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

    Surrey 8-0 v Kent

Solid start from Surrey at The Oval with Rory Burns scoring eight from Jacob Duffy's first over.

Four of those came via a boundary and, rather unusually, the others came via an "all-run four" as Burns directed a shot towards cover that didn't reach the rope but the nearest fielder was a mile away.

He and fellow opener Ryan Patel looked like they were warming up for the 100m at the Commonwealth Games the way they sped up and down the wicket to run those four before the ball was thrown back.

BBC Radio Surrey commentator Mark Church is speculating whether that could be the first "all-run four" in history? It was the third ball of the game...

  7. Off and running . . .published at 11:01 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

We're underway and already there has been a wicket.

Worcestershire opener Ed Pollock has gone first ball at New Road.

Glamorgan paceman Michael Neser has struck with the first ball of the match.

A nightmare recall for Pollock, who had been left out of the Pears' previous game.

  8. Choose your game to listen on the BBCpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

A quick reminder that EVERY BALL of EVERY GAME can be heard here on the BBC Sport website and app.

The individual commentary links are all easy to spot at the top of the page.

While this small team of online worker ants remain hidden out of sight in our concrete bunker in Birmingham, Radio Five's Kevin Howells will be fronting the on-air coverage from Trent Bridge for the Division Two top of the table clash between Nottinghamshire and Middlesex.

  9. Sunny for most - but windy and wet in westpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

The BBC weather forecast is good news for the majority of our matches today, with sunshine predicted for much of the country.

There may, however, be a few showers in the west - so if any of our games might be subject to an interruption, it's most likely to be in Gloucestershire where Lancashire are the visitors.

  12. Good morning and welcomepublished at 10:50 British Summer Time 26 June 2022

Welcome to the latest round of County Championship action.

We have seven games to keep an eye on today - four top flight games in Bristol, Northampton, Chelmsford, London - and three Division Two matches in Nottingham, Worcester and Hove.

The top three teams are all in action in Division One with unbeaten leaders Surrey - four wins and three draws from seven games - hoping to stretch their cushion at the summit at home to Kent.

Hampshire are just three points behind Surrey but face a testing trip to Essex while third-placed Lancashire will hope to bridge the gap between themselves and the top two with victory against winless bottom side Gloucestershire.

Northamptonshire bid to climb away from relegation danger at home to fifth-placed Warwickshire.

Game of the week in Division Two is at Trent Bridge where leaders Nottinghamshire host second-placed Middlesex, and there are also two other fixtures to keep an eye on - Worcestershire's home game with Glamorgan and Sussex hosting Derbyshire.

The weather forecast looks set fair for all seven grounds - so let's things get started with a warm ripple of polite applause.
