  1. That's All Folkspublished at 18:59 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

One more day left in this round of County Championship fixtures - and six games still going.

Highlight of today was obviously Essex's thilling Simon Harmer-inspired 12-run win over Hampshire. And there could yet be more excitement to come tomorrow.

Most exciting news tonight is it being all over by seven o'clock though.

That's what happens when you get the spinners on!!!

The Northants-Warwickshire game looks a foregone conclusion, but the games at The Oval and Nevil Road, Bristol are still in the balance - and there looks likely to be a tight finish tomorrow morning at New Road, where it could go either way between Worcestershire and Glamorgan.

And, in the other two Division Two games, it will be intriguing to see which of Notts, the team who enforced the follow-on at Trent Bridge, or Derbyshire, the team who didn't enforce the follow-on at Hove, will win.

Enjoy the rest of your evening. And hopefully come back and join us in the morning for some more fun and japes.

Excellent response from Middlesex after being made to follow on. Mark Stoneman is unbeaten on 16 and Sam Robson, 36.

  4. Close of play at The Ovalpublished at 18:52 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 121-0

A terrific final session for Kent. Joe Denly and Ben Compton have batted through 44 overs to reach stumps with none down.

Denly is on 63, Compton on 47 to blunt Surrey's bowling.

But they have 96 more overs to negotiate tomorrow and they still trail by 221 runs.

    Notts 551-8 dec v Middlesex 376 & 50-0

A single from Mark Stoneman brings up the 50 stand for him and fellow opener Sam Robson.

They have reduced Notts' advantage to 125. This has been a very reassuring start for Middlesex.

  6. Close of play at Wantage Roadpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Northants 451, Warwickshire 396-8

Off they go at Wantage Road, with Nathan McAndrew on 54, Craig Miles on 17, the deficit down to 55, the bonus points all accounted for and little left to play for tomorrow other than love and pride.

    Sussex 337 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 127-7

The visitors lead by 341 with three second innings wickets remaining as Luis Reece and Alex Thomson reach stumps.

Derbyshire will still need to bat in the morning. They remain in control, but not as much as when they led by 214 and could have enforced the follow-on.

  8. Close of play at New Roadpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

Glamorgan 232-5 (chasing 332 to beat Worcestershire)

Exactly 100 to win for Glamorgan to win at Worcester.

Billy Root is on 46. James Harris on 1.

    The Pears need five wickets.

    The new ball is due.

There could be some excitement at New Road in the morning.

  9. 50 runs

Half-century for Nathan McAndrewpublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Northants 451, Warwickshire 395-8

Nathan McAndrew gets to his fifty. It's the Australian's fourth first-class century, but his first in England.

  10. Five-wicket haul for Jack Brookspublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Kerr c Carter b Brooks 8 (Sussex 337 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 118-7)

The on-loan Somerset veteran has five wickets for his temporary county as he gets Hayden Kerr to tickle one behind.

A fine effort in a month in which Brooks turned 38.

  11. Close of play at Nevil Roadpublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 99-3, Lancashire 402

Gloucestershire survive to the close with no further loss.

They lead by a precarious 34.

Early wickets tomorrow morning could make this game very interesting.

  12. ouch!

Won't you come back on Tom Bailey?published at 18:20 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 97-3, Lancashire 402

Lancashire paceman Tom Bailey comes back on for the penultimate over - to bowl spin!

And it so nearly pays off.

He gets big turn off the first ball, it catches James Bracey's edge, and the ball flies past slip to the third man boundary.

Same again with another big turner that goes for four byes. 10 off the over, but so nearly a match-turning over.

    One more to come.

  13. 50 runs

for Joe Denlypublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 101-0

Three runs brings up a half century for Joe Denly and a century opening stand for Kent.

From 94 balls with six fours, it is a good response from Denly to facing a huge first innings deficit.

He has brought his T20 form into Championship cricket at the ground where he made his Test-best score of 94 in the 2019 Ashes series.

  14. wicket

WICKET - Ingram lbw b Barnard 102published at 18:12 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

Glamorgan 228-5 (chasing 332 to win)

Big wicket for Worcestershire. Ed Barnard makes the breakthough by trapping fellow centurion Colin Ingram for 102.

James Harris comes out to join Billy Root.

  15. 100 runs

Century for Colin Ingrampublished at 18:06 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

Glamorgan 228-4 (chasing 332 to win)

Colin Ingram reaches three figures at New Road - and the Glamorgan victory target gets less and less with every passing over.

    They might actually do this!

Bily Root is on 44, after his fifth boundary, and they now need just 104 runs to win.

Ingram hit 13 boundaries in his second century of the season.

He has now made 16 hundreds in his first-class career, 16 of them for Glammy.

  16. wicket

    WICKET - Dal c Carter b Hunt 12published at 18:06 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Sussex 337 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 102-6

Round the wicket from Sean Hunt and he entices a tentative prod from Anuj Dal to Ollie Carter behind the stumps.

The gap is 316 and there are eight overs left today.

  17. Postpublished at 17:51 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Surrey 673-7 dec v Kent 331 & 73-0

The fact that Surrey captain Rory Burns has already used six bowlers in 30 overs is definitely a victory for Joe Denly and Ben Compton.

Into the last hour of play at the Oval and Surrey would love a wicket before the close.

  18. Lead over 300published at 17:48 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Sussex 337 v Derbyshire 551-8 dec & 94-5

A period of consolidation from Luis Reece and Anuj Dal after that clatter of wickets.

They have put on 40 in just over 15 overs. Not really pushing their score on as they would like, but they lost some wiggle room.

The lead now stands at 308.

  19. 200 runs

200 comes up for Glamorganpublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

Glamorgan 203-4 (chasing 332 to win)

Glamorgan reach an important psychological target at New Road.

Colin Ingram (95) and Billy Root (30) have so far put on 70 - and the odds are shortening on the visitors.

  20. wicket

    WICKET - Dent c Salt b Williams 23published at 17:42 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Gloucestershire 337 & 73-3, Lancashire 402

Big wicket for Lancashire as they claim the wicket of first-innings centurion Chris Dent.

It's a first wicket of the match for Will Williams.

James Bracey comes in to join Miles Hammond.

Still plenty of things going on in this game. Enough to give Lancashire hope of forcing victory.
