    Yorkshire 192-5 v Surrey

Surrey now have a leg-slip in place for Jamie Overton, but he overpitches outside off stump twice in a row and both deliveries are cleanly struck for four by Adam Lyth. He is too good a batter to miss out on those and is now 85 not out.

Clearly the problem with the balls earlier in the season has not gone away.

    Lancs v Somerset 138-4

James Rew, an 18-year-old left-hander, is out there playing just his second first-class match.

He's got a nascent partnership together with Lewis Goldsworthy to try and work Somerset away from danger.

Goldsworthy has struck six fours already, including a smart drive through extra-cover off Will Williams.

  4. Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Hampshire v Warwicks 126-7

Warwickshire have stopped the rot - or at least slowed it down - at the Ageas Bowl and Danny Briggs lofts the final delivery of James Fuller's latest over back down the ground for four.

He is eight not out against his former club and Nathan McAndrew has 15.

  5. Postpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Yorkshire 171-5 v Surrey

Yorkshire are fighting hard to try and repair the post-lunch damage at Scarborough. Jonathan Tattersall and Adam Lyth both find the boundary in Will Jacks' latest over - and Lyth is now on 71.

  6. Division Two round-up: 50 for du Plooypublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

Leus du Plooy has completed a valuable 96-ball 50 for Derbyshire, who are 133-5 in the 46th over against Durham.

Sam Northeast, though, has gone for 56, lbw to Brett Hutton and Glamorgan are 180-4 after 47 overs against Notts.

Luke Hollman is one run short of 50 for Middlesex, who are 140-7 after 46 against Worcestershire.

Sussex continue to steam ahead at Hove, where they are 228-1 in the 44th over against Leicestershire - Tom Alsop now 60 not out.

The wickets continue to fall at Chelmsford as Nick Browne pushes forward defensively and the ball from Tom Price does just enough to take the edge.

Despite a hundred and two fifties, Browne is only averaging 25 ion this year's Championship. Tom Westley is now out there with Sir Alastair Cook.

  8. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

up for Northantspublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Kent v Northants 143-2

Emilio Gay onto 78 so a season's best for him - not great considering how batting-friendly the campaign has been.

But here is a golden chance to add to his solitary first-class hundred.

He's got a wise old head in Luke Procter alongside him now.

Procter was in sparkling form before the T20 break with three hundreds and the highest batting average in Division One.

    Sussex 203-1 v Leics

    Tom AlsopImage source, Rex Features

However difficult many teams are finding batting today, that clearly isn't the case at Hove where Tom Alsop reaches an 89-ball 50 but putting away a Ben Mike no-ball for four - a shot which also earns his side their first batting point.

Remember they lost opener Tom Haines with a hand injury during the morning session - he retired hurt on 24.

  11. Postpublished at 14:35 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Essex 1-0 v Gloucs 136

They are already back out there in Chelmsford and Ryan Higgins' opening over costs him only a single to Nick Browne.

Gloucestershire need something special with the ball if they are to play their way back into this game - who can provide a Simon Harmer-like performance for them?

  12. Division Two round-up - 50 for Northeastpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

Chris Rushworth didn't manage to complete a hat-trick for Durham and Derbyshire are now 111-5 in the 39th over, with Leus du Plooy on 41 not out.

Sam Northeast has now completed a 75-ball half-century for Glamorgan, who are 146-3 in the 42nd against Notts.

Charlie Morris has removed Toby Roland-Jones at Northwood and Middlesex are 123-7 in the 40th against Worcestershire, with Luke Hollman on 38.

Tom Alsop is just three short of 50 for Sussex, who are 195-1 after 38 overs against Leicestershire, with Cheteshwar Pujara 23 not out.

Mousley lbw Abbott 16 (Hampshire v Warwicks 104-7)

Warwickshire certainly aren't batting like champions this afternoon.

Kyle Abbott picks up his third wicket as Dan Mousley plays across the line and is leg-before.

Nathan McAndrew and Danny Briggs are now together at the crease for the Bears.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Shaw c Snater b Critchley 6 (Essex v Gloucs 136)

All over for Gloucestershire in just 39 overs as Josh Shaw lofts Matt Critchley down the ground for six and then hits the next ball straight to Shane Snater at cover.

The visitors added 32 to their 104-6 at lunch - their final decline prompted by the running out of Graeme van Buuren for 34.

Zafar Gohard, who turned down van Buuren's call for a single, is left 29 not out, while Simon Harmer takes the bowling honours with figures of 5-44.

  15. wicket

WICKET Lammonby lbw b Williams 42published at 14:20 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Lancs v Somerset 105-4

    Big strike for Lancashire.

Tom Lammonby was going really well but New Zealander Will Williams has trapped him lbw.

Full and straight and Lammonby has just played across it.

Somerset in a spot of bother now.

  16. 50 runs

for Adam Lythpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Yorkshire 133-5 v Surrey

Aaron Hardie overpitches and Adam Lyth puts it away unerringly through the off-side to reach 50 off 108 balls.

It's the eight four of the left-hander's innings and he has also struck two sixes.

Yorkshire need him to go on and convert this to three figures.

    Burgess c Vince b Abbott 0 (Hampshire v Warwicks 97-6)

Warwickshire have lost three wickets for 10 runs in the space of 2.2 overs since lunch.

Michael Burgess is surprised by a change of pace from Kyle Abbott and can only edge to first slip as the ball lifts on him.

That's a second bowling point for Hampshire.

  18. for Simon Harmerpublished at 14:15 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Taylor b Harmer (Essex v Gloucs 129-9)

Yet another five-for by spin-master Simon Harmer as a perfect off-break clips the top of Matt Taylor's off stump.

Harmer took 15 wickets in Essex's last Championship game but Gloucestershire can have no complaints about this - they chose to bat after winning the toss.

    Lamb b Barker 0 (Hampshire v Warwicks 96-5)

There have been some major errors of judgement today and there's another one as Matt Lamb shoulders arms to a ball from Keith Barker which goes straight on and bowls him for a duck.

Dan Mousley is 10 not out for the 2021 champions and has now been joined by Michael Burgess, who was in magnificent batting form earlier in the season.

Lewis Goldsworthy cuts Jack Morley to deep cover and brings the hundred up for Somerset.

    Tom Lammonby there on 41.
