    Essex v Gloucs 126-8

    Zafar GoharImage source, Rex Features

Zafar Gohar has clearly decided there is little point in just hanging around.

He swings the first ball of a new Shane Snater over for four over mid-wicket and two deliveries later pulls the paceman away for six.

It's going to take a lot more of that, though, if Gloucestershire are to get anywhere near a batting point.

  2. 50 runs

for Emilio Gaypublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Kent v Northants 110-2

Emilio Gay has lost his partner after a century stand.

But here goes to his fourth fifty of the summer.

This in 108 balls with eight fours.

Can he now kick on, a season's best of only 70 for him.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Waite c Jacks b Worrall 15 (Yorkshire 125-5 v Surrey)

This deluge of wickets shows no sign of relenting.

Dan Worrall produces a little bit of extra lift at Scarborough and Matthew Waite edges to second slip where Will Jacks takes the catch in front of his face.

Division One leaders Surrey now well on top.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Rhodes c Holland b Abbott 2 (Hampshire v Warwicks 91-4)

Will Rhodes is squared up by a fine delivery from Kyle Abbott and Iain Holland takes a fine low catch at gully.

Following the loss of Dom Sibley, this has not been the start to the afternoon that Warwickshire wanted.

  5. wicket

    WICKET Rickelton c †Billings b Milnes 55published at 14:03 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Kent v Northants 109-2

But it's fifty and out for Ryan Rickelton.

He follows a full ball sent across him from Matt Milnes and nicks behind.

He's really annoyed as he turns and walks off, knows plenty of runs were there for the taking.

    Much-need partnership breaker for Kent.

  6. 50 runs

for Ryan Rickeltonpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Kent v Northants 103-1

Ryan Rickelton the first to his half-century after lunch, in 86 balls as he drives a couple past mid-off.

    Eight boundaries in his innings.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    T Price c Beard b Harmer 6 (Essex v Gloucs 115-8)

Tom Price slogs Simon Harmer for six, but the next ball turns a bit and he jabs a catch to Aaron Beard at short mid-wicket. Harmer now has 4-41 and the Gloucestershire innings is in freefall.

Sussex have lost their first wicket at Hove with Ali Orr lbw to spinner Callum Parkinson for 70 - they are 149-1 after 29 overs against Leicestershire. Cheteshwar Pujara is the new batter.

Durham's Chris Rushworth is on a hat-trick against Derbyshire, having dismissed Brooke Guest and Hilton Cartwright with the final two balls of his latest over - the visitors are 85-5 in the 32nd.

Middlesex are 89-6 against Worcestershire, with Luke Hollman on 25, while Glamorgan have added 11 without loss since lunch and are 114-3 in the 34th over against Notts.

    Yorkshire 116-4 v Surrey

Jamie Overton strains for a yorker, but the line is wrong and Matthew Waite flicks it away fine for four runs. He is 10 not out and Adam Lyth has 43, having not yet added to his score at lunch.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Sibley c Brown b Barker 56 (Hampshire v Warwicks 88-3)

On such a scorching day, it's certainly raining wickets at the moment.

Dom Sibley pushes forward defensively to a ball from left-armer Keith Barker but it does enough to find a thin edge and it's a comfortable catch for keeper Ben Brown.

Sibley faces 96 balls and hit 11 fours in his innings - and he has now been replaced by Will Rhodes.

You don't want to do that to your captain.

Graeme van Buuren drives to cover and sets off for a single, partner Zafar Gohar doesn't budge and GVB is run out by the length of the pitch.

A poor morning for Gloucestershire just got a whole lot worse.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Luxton c Foakes b Jacks 31 (Yorkshire 106-4 v Surrey)

First ball after lunch at Scarborough isn't an especially threatening one from Will Jacks - but Will Luxton somehow nicks a leg-side catch to wicketkeeper Ben Foakes. Great start to the afternoon for the Division One leaders.

    Glamorgan 103-3 v Nottinghamshire - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan and Notts go into the afternoon session with the game evenly poised after Steven Mullaney’s surprise decision to bowl first.

Home skipper David Lloyd, short of red-ball runs, fell for six to Luke Fletcher to give the bowlers some encouragement on what looked like a good batting pitch.

Colin Ingram looked to be well set after smacking five consecutive boundaries with a series of elegant drives, while the more cautious Eddie Byrom broke out to smash a six over mid wicket.

But Ingram edged Brett Hutton on 34 to stand-in keeper Joe Clarke, while Byrom fell over a full-length ball from Dane Paterson to be trapped lbw for 24.

This looks like an important match for Glamorgan’s promotion hopes having been the only side to beat Notts so far, while the visitors have to cope without three key men in Ben Duckett (England Lions), Tom Moores (illness) and James Pattinson (paternity leave).

    Lancashire v Somerset 89-3 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Both sides will have taken something from this morning's cricket: three wickets for Lancashire; encouraging knocks for Somerset's Tom Lammonby and George Bartlett, who was looking a million dollars in his first Championship match of the season until he was late coming down on a yorker from Jack Morley's slow left arm, the ball creeping under his bat and onto the stumps.

With a good crowd providing a seaside festival atmosphere, this is county cricket at its most characteristic and, some would say, its best.

  18. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Essex v Gloucestershire 104-6

Essex well on top at Chelmsford where Gloucestershire have failed to make the most of winning the toss and choosing to bat.

Graeme van Buureh is 34 not out but Simon Harmer has 3-31 from 10 overs for the home side, with the other three wickets shared between Jamie Porter and Aaron Beard.

The visitors are bottom of the table and badly in need to their tail producing some lower order runs.

  19. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Yorkshire 106-3 v Surrey

A stylish end to the morning as Adam Lyth pushes Jamie Overton's final delivery through the covers for four.

Lyth has 43 not out and has added 48 with Championship debutant Will Luxton since the departure of Will Fraine for 14.

Luxton is on 31, having survived a chance to second slip and being caught off a no-ball.

  20. Lunch at Ageas Bowlpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 July 2022

    Hampshire v Warwickshire 87-2

Dan Mousley helps himself to three off Liam Dawson and the final scoring shot of the morning is a single for Dom Sibley, who ends the session with 55 not out off 87 balls.

It was a very unSibley-like dash at the start of his innings and he has found the boundary 11 times - some of them, though, off the edge.

An even session, but a couple of early wickets this afternoon and Hampshire will feel they are getting the upper hand.
