  2. wicket

WICKET Brookes c Billings b Saini 6published at 12:07 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 191-8 v Kent 165

Sam Billings is a busy man behind the stumps for Kent.

The England glovesman takes his second catch of the morning and his fifth of the Warwickshire innings as Henry Brookes nicks behind off Navdeep Saini.

That's a fourth wicket of the match for Saini although Brookes gave the umpire a long stare to indicate he felt he didn't get a touch.

Sam Hain still there for the Bears, unbeaten on 81 and eyeing a century.

  3. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Hopefully only a short delay.

  4. wicket

WICKET Amla c Browne b Porter 12published at 12:03 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 52-3 v Essex 271

    Soft dismissal, great catch!

Hashim Amla mis-times Jamie Porter into the leg-side and Nick Browne takes a fine, diving grab at mid-wicket.

Surrey are in a spot of bother now.

  5. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 7-1

It's taken Keaton Jennings 14 balls to get off the mark which must be some sort of record for Lancashire's usually-aggressive opener.

He does so in classy style with a lovely drive to long on for four.

The Red Rose in cautious mode after that early loss of Luke Wells.

  6. Division Two latestpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

Nottinghamshire have now lost a couple of wickets this morning at Derbyshire. Ben Duckett was the first to go for 241 and Joe Clarke swiftly followed for five. Haseeb Hameed has 183 in Notts' 471-3.

Sussex are still looking strong at Lord's despite losing two wickets today. Cheteshwar Pujara is 123 not out with his side on 362-6 against Middlesex.

And it's day one between Leicestershire and Glamorgan. Leicestershire are 49-1 - Rishi Patel the man to go.

  7. wicket

WICKET Wells lbw b White 3published at 11:47 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 235 v Lancashire 3-1

Not the start Lancashire wanted to their innings. Exactly the start Northants wanted.

More movement than a Strictly dance routine from the in-form Jack White who gets one to nip back in wickedly and completely pin Luke Wells in his crease.

The umpire raises the finger and the Lancs opener departs lbw for just three.

WICKET Abell lbw b Waite 116published at 11:47 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Somerset 286-6 v Yorkshire

Tom Abell just wasn't able to get going this morning and now the Somerset captain is gone.

Matt Waite gets him with a lovely delivery that nips back in off the seam and strikes him in front.

Just the two runs for Abell in 45 minutes of play as he departs for 116.

  9. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 235-2

Bad light is no longer the reason for the delay at Cheltenham. It's now raining.

  10. wicket

WICKET Briggs c Billings b Henry 20published at 11:40 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 171-7 v Kent 165

They were going along very nicely.

Then Danny Briggs has a nibble at a delivery from New Zealand seamer Matt Henry that should, and could, have easily been left alone.

Kent's England wicketkeeper Sam Billings takes one of the more simple catches of his career behind the stumps.

  11. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Warwickshire 171-6 v Kent 165

A relatively quiet start at Edgbaston, although the Bears have just passed Kent's total to ensure a first-innings lead.

Sam Hain (75no) and Danny Briggs (20no) are going along very nicely for Warwickshire.

  12. Bad light stops playpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 235-2

We did mention the weather might cause a stoppage or two today - and it's happened after just half an hour of play at Cheltenham.

Just a few minutes after Felix Organ racked up his hundred, bad light forces Hampshire and hosts Gloucestershire off the field.

Organ's unbeaten on 106, skipper James Vince alongside him on 23 not out.

  13. 100 runs

100 for Felix Organpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Gloucestershire v Hampshire 225-2

A second first-class century of the season for Hampshire opener Felix Organ.

He flicks one off his boot away for four from Josh Shaw to bring up the ton in style.

NORTHANTS ALL OUT FOR 235published at 11:27 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    White b Wood 5 (Northants 235 v Lancashire)

    Well, that didn't take long.

Less than half an hour into the day and Northants have lost all three of their remaining wickets.

Jack White is the final man to fall and a seven nation army couldn't have held back Luke Wood's yorker which crashes through the tail-ender's defences and batters the stumps.

Wood finishes with 3-34, but debutant Washington Sundar tops the Lancashire bowling figures with 5-76. Lewis McManus (61) and Rob Keogh (54) did enough to earn Northants one batting point.

  15. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 38-2 v Essex 271

Ollie Pope has come in at four for Surrey.

It's the England batter's first County Championship game since mid-May.

  16. wicket

WICKET McManus c Jennings b Sundar 61published at 11:20 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 226-9 v Lancashire

There's the big wicket for Lancashire as Lewis McManus falls for a well-compiled 61 and the end is nigh for Northants.

It's a five-wicket haul on debut for Lancs bowler Washington Sundar - the seventh bowler from the county to achieve such a feat on his County Championship bow, BBC Radio Lancs' Scott Read informs us.

McManus tries to slog sweep him but doesn't get all of it and Keaton Jennings takes a good, low catch at deep midwicket.

  17. wicket

WICKET Duckett b Aitchison 241published at 11:15 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Derbyshire v Notts 448-2

Nottinghamshire's all-time record partnership will not be broken today.

Ben Duckett chops seamer Ben Aitchison on and is out for a magnificent 241.

His stand with Haseeb Hameed ends at 402, so they've just failed to get past Darren Bicknell and Guy Welton's partnership of 406.

  18. wicket

WICKET Burns lbw b S Cook 24published at 11:13 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Surrey 31-2 v Essex 271

    Early wicket for Essex!

Rory Burns plays around a straight one from Sam Cook and it smacks the left-hander on the pad. Out.

  19. 400 partnershippublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Derbyshire v Notts 448-1

Haseeb Hameed plays a lovely drive through mid-on for four to bring up the 400 partnership with Ben Duckett.

That's a second-wicket record for the county, surpassing the 398 put on by Arthur Shrewsbury and William Gunn in 1890!

  20. wicket

    WICKET - Kerrigan c Jones b Wood 0published at 11:12 British Summer Time 20 July 2022

    Northants 220-8 v Lancashire

The first wicket of the day falls at Wantage Road.

A Luke Wood bouncer surprises Northants' Simon Kerrigan who, in trying to protect himself, gets a glove on it.

It loops up and stays in the air for what seems an eternity before Rob Jones races behind the wicket from short leg to take a diving catch.

Great start to the day for Lancashire while Northants face a battle on their hands to attain more than a single batting point from this first innings.
