    Lancs 276 v Yorks 90-2

Tom Kohler-Cadmore takes the aerial route as a handsome six off Matt Parkinson gets him off the mark at Old Trafford. The next ball also gets the treatment as he biffs it away powerfully over long-off for four more.

  2. wicket

WICKET Compton b Porter 2published at 15:59 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Kent 5-1 v Essex 573

A big early blow for Essex and an embarrassment for Ben Compton.

He gets his angles all askew, misses when trying to flick Jamie Porter and loses his leg stump!

  3. Postpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Somerset 139-4 v Gloucestershire 343

Imam ul-Haq makes a late decision to try and take his bat away from a Tom price delivery, but it deflects off the face past slip and runs away for four. That's a 50 partnership with James Rew.

  4. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 77-2

Will Williams opens up for Lancashire after tea at Old Trafford and a single for Finlay Bean is the only addition from that set of six.

Unsurprisingly, spinner Matt Parkinson will resume from the other end.

  5. wicket

WICKET Jones b Potts 87published at 15:55 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Derbys 306 v Durham 142-4

That is a superb delivery by Nick Potts.

Near yorker length, but with a little touch of away swing to beat Michael Jones' drive and rip out off stump.

Good innings by the Durham opener, who faces 152 balls and hit 15 fours.

Steven Mullaney edges an attempted cut shot at Trent Bridge and it's a good catch by Colin Ackermann, moving to his right at first slip.

That's the good news for Leicestershire - the bad is that Nottinghamshire's lead is now beyond 400.

  8. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

After our weather pessimism first thing this morning, we've been pretty lucky so far - despite the first-session wash-out at Old Trafford. Let's hope that continues.

Jack Taylor bowls the final over before the interval at Taunton and Somerset take three singles form it.

Imam ul-Haq is 71 not out but it has not been easy for the home side in the face of some tight Gloucestershire bowling.

The deficit is 208 with the day's final session to come.

  10. Tea at Old Traffordpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Lancashire 276 v Yorkshire 76-2

    Finlay BeanImage source, Getty Images

A maiden over from Matt Parkinson to Tom Kohler-Cadmore ends the afternoon session in the Roses match, with the start of day two delayed by rain until 12:55.

Finlay Bean has made a good impression in his first Championship innings for Yorkshire and is 31 not out.

But the ball from Parkinson which bowled George Hill following a stand of 63 with Bean will have given the visitors plenty of food for thought to go with their sandwiches.

  11. HAMPSHIRE DECLAREpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Hants 400-9d v Northants

Smart move this with plenty of rain around (they’ve done jolly well to play for 90 mins this afternoon).

40 overs left in the day for Kyle Abbott, who ends up 57 not out from number 10, Mohammad Abbas et al to have a crack at the Northants batting.

Having just checked the updated forecast, they might actually now be okay for the rest of today.

Looks like the strong winds have blown a miserable patch of weather elsewhere.

  12. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

India's Shubman Gill hits two successive fours for Glamorgan, who are 53-1, replying to Worcestershire's 454-9 declared. Gill is 10 not out and partner Eddie Byrom has 39.

Nottinghamshire are now 282-4 against Leicestershire, with Steven Mullaney and Lyndon James together, a lead over Leicestershire of 390.

Michael Jones has progressed to 75 not out for Durham, who are 122-3 against Derbyshire, who made 306 all out on day one.

  13. 400 up for Hampshirepublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Hants 400-9 v Northants

Well how in the world has this happened?

That’ll be the question in both the Northants dressing room and at The Oval.

167-5 then 273-7 and somehow Hampshire have scrapped their way to maximum batting points.

  14. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Somerset 132-4 v Gloucs 343

A long half-volley by Josh Shaw and Imam ul-Haq drills it away through the covers for four. The left-hander is now 69 not out, but he needs support from the other end.

  15. wicket

ESSEX ALL OUTpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 573 (Khushi c Leaning b Podmore 164)

It looked for a moment this morning that Essex were throwing away their chance of a giant total.

But Feroze Khushi has seen that their position on resumption has been fully capitalised upon.

He has made a career-best 164, his maiden first-class hundred, and guided his side today from 383-7 to an impenetrable score.

Khushi is last man out trying to smash Harry Podmore down the ground but is taken at long-on.

They’ll take tea, then 31 overs for Kent to start building a reply.

  16. wicket

WICKET Hill b Parkinson 32published at 15:18 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 76-2

Echoes of that Warne ball to Mike Gatting.

Matt Parkinson produces one that drifts in, pitches on leg and spins away to hit the top of George Hill's off stump. Superb delivery.

"It was a proper defensive shot. He got a good stride in but it still beat the outside edge," Paul Allott tells BBC Radio Lancashire.

  17. 50 runs

for Kyle Abbottpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Hants 391-9 v Northants

Well how about this from Hampshire’s number 10?

Six fours, two sixes and a merry 38-ball fifty to ram home Hampshire’s day.

  18. wicket

WICKET Maddinson c Conners b Dal 8published at 15:11 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Derbys 306 v Durham 115-3

Nic Maddinson was forced to change his bat earlier on because his first one was deemed too large - which could end up costing Durham points.

The Australian doesn't get much use from the regulation replacement, despite being dropped by the keeper on six, as he slices a catch to point off Anuj Dal.

  19. wicket

WICKET Clarke c Swindells b Parkinson 67published at 15:08 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Notts 201 & 245-4 v Leics 93

    Joe ClarkeImage source, Rex Features

Joe Clarke goes back to a ball which hurries on to him with the arm and edges to keeper Harry Swindells. A positive innings comes to an end but he has helped extend the Notts lead beyond 350.

  20. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Lancs 276 v Yorks 63-1

Two runs for George Hill off Tom Bailey brings up a 50 partnership with Finlay Bean. Yorkshire must be delighted to see two young players batting together with such composure.
