    Hants 273-6 v Northants

An early lunch has been taken after very heavy rain in Southampton.

Forecast suggests a brief respite but then a nasty band of more rain set to come in.

May not get much more play if anything there today.

Ben Sanderson picked up a wicket in the first full over of the day before Aneurin Donald went to a brisk fifty.

The appropriate word for that over is 'frenetic'.

Can Gloucestershire eke out one more batting point, we asked in our previous entry.

The answer is no as Ajeet Dale falls lbw to Lewis Gregory at the start of a new over.

What can their batters produce on this pitch?

Michael Jones isn't hanging about at Derby.

He's already found the boundary seven times in his 28 not out off 25 balls.

The latest is slightly fortunate as Sam Conners finds the edge as he shaped to play to leg, but it flies away past the slip cordon.

  16. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

Josh Shaw leaves the final delivery of Lewis Gregory's over alone, so there is no hat-trick for the Somerset all-rounder.

The victorious Trent Rockets captain from Saturday's Hundred final, struggled at times with the ball on the opening day, but now has 3-58 to show for his efforts.

  19. wicket

    WICKET Critchley c Robinson b Bell-Drummond 90published at 11:27 British Summer Time 6 September 2022

    Kent v Essex 366-5

Oh my goodness what a disaster for Matt Critchley.

He’s tried to flick a gentle wobbler from Daniel Bell-Drummond down the leg side but has nicked it through to the keeper!

Such a shame for Critchley who has grown and grown as a batsman.

It was looking pretty desperate for Kent but they’ve got a huge bonus wicket.
