Has the devil gone out of the wicket at Trent Bridge?

Hard to say if you don't pitch the ball on it.

A wide full toss from Michael Finan is slapped through the covers by Haseeb Hameed, who is 23 not out and the Notts lead is now 156.

It's the final scoring shot, though, before the umpires decide the light isn't good enough to continue.

    Notts 201 & 40-0 v Leics 93

Michael Finan is certainly bending his back at Trent Bridge and his is slightly unfortunate as Ben Slater tries to force one away off the back foot and slices into the gap between the three slips and gully.

It brings the left-hander four runs and he is now 16 not out.

Somerset head coach Jason Kerr admitted his bowlers struggled on the opening day because of the lack of recent red-ball match practice.

Prior to the start of the current round of games, there had been no Championship cricket since 28 July because of The Hundred.

"We looked rusty. It was six weeks since we had played any red-ball cricket and it showed because we weren't able to string dot balls together and create any pressure this morning," said Kerr at close of play.

"We knew it would be a decent surface, but we thought we could utilise what grass there was on the pitch. The ball was swinging when we practised and we felt we could make early inroads. It wasn't to be, but we were so much better in the final session."

Left-armer Michael Finan's length is too full and straight and Haseeb Hameed picks him off twice for fours through mid-wicket.

When play began Hameed was four not out and needed 80 more runs to reach 1,000 in the Championship this season.

He's now on 19, with Ben Slater nine at the other end.

    Hants 230-6 v Northants

Ben Sanderson strikes with his fourth ball of the day!

A big blow too to get Liam Dawson who battles out of the tightest corners.

Dawson pushes a fraction hard at a length ball and nicks it into the cordon.

It’s a really good low catch from Emilio Gay diving low to his left.
