    Somerset 39-0 v Northants

Imam ul-Haq slashes a ball from Lizaad Williams uppishly through backward point for four.

The South African does not heed the lesson in terms of line and length and the Pakistan opener plays a much better square cut later in the over for four more. He is 21 not out.

    Surrey 36-1 v Yorkshire

A free gift from Ben Mike at the Micky Stewart Oval - overpitched and directed onto Hashim Amla's pads. The South African whips it away for an easy four and he moves to 12 not out.

Steve Patterson also errs in length in the following over and Ryan Patel finds the boundary to reach 20.

  3. Bright start for Haynespublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Worcs 66-3 v Notts

Jack Haynes has been sprightly here, scoring at just over a run a ball.

He drives Hutton down the ground and Notts skipper Steven Mullaney dives behind the line of the ball to keep it to just a single.

  4. Division Two updatepublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

Middlesex are looking to rebuild after the loss of both openers and Stevie Eskinazi has 34 not out in their 66-2 against Leicestershire.

Glamorgan have progressed to 57-1 in the 16th over against Derbyshire, with David Lloyd 26 not out and Tom Bevan on 14. Shubman Gill is missing the game because of flu.

Durham have their second wicket at the Riverside with Tom Alsop lbw to Ben Raine for eight - Sussex are 25-2 in the 11th over.

Zafar has really put the lid on the Warwickshire scoring at this end. Just two runs from three overs bowled.

Tom Price appeals for LBW at the other end, as Hain falls over his stumps to defend - but that ball was doing a bit too much.

He's struggling here with just the one run from 40 balls - and that run was squeezed down to square leg.

    Worcs 54-3 v Notts

Brett D'Oliveira defends a tight line from Brett Hutton on the line of off stump.

The fourth and fifth and sixth balls bounce and seam away.

He has three runs off 15 balls.

    Surrey 27-1 v Yorkshire

Ben Mike may be trying a little too hard - which would be understandable on his Yorkshire debut - but his new team-mates won't want to see a no-ball per over from him.

There's his second of this spell and the over ends with Ryan Patel driving behind square for four runs. He is 16 not out.

    Hants v Kent 14-2

Kent have crawled into double figures down on the south coast.

Despite a powerful pull shot from Ben Compton that flew to the midwicket fence, the visitors continue to go at under one an over.

    Sedentary stuff.

    Gloucs v Warwks 46-2

Zafar Gohar drifts a ball down the leg side and Sibley helps the ball on its way behind square for a single to move to 22.

Sam Hain blocks out the rest of the over.

    Somerset 22-0 v Northants

Somerset's openers are certainly having to work hard for their runs at Taunton, with only one boundary between them so far.

There has, though, been a three in each of the last three overs and Tom Lammonby is 13 not out, with Imam ul-Haq on 12.

So far, so good for the home side - if slowly.

Shane Snater has his second wicket - Keaton Jennings has to go!

The ball just seemed to stop in the pitch, and Jennings slices it in the air straight to Jamie Porter at point.

    Essex v Lancs 40-2

Steven Croft has been very respectful of Sam Cook so far, playing everything right under his nose.

Cook beats him on the inside edge to end his sixth over, the 13th in total.

The Essex seamer is moving it both ways and asking questions with every delivery.

    Surrey 20-1 v Yorkshire

Big moment for Ben Mike, who starts his first spell for Yorkshire after joining them on loan from Leicestershire for the final two matches of the season, replacing Ben Coad.

There's a single for Ryan Patel but that apart, a no-ball is the only addition to the Surrey total.

    Worcs 47-3 v Notts

Jake Libby is late on a defensive jab as the ball moves in off the seam and strikes the knee roll.

The new batter is Brett D'Oliveira.

Tom Price comes close to getting a third wicket for Gloucestershire but the chance offered by Dom Sibley off a loose push is put down by the fielder running into point.

Zafar Gohar joins the attack from the Pavilion End and his first ball is cut through point for a single. Very loose ball.

Dane Paterson is in the attack and concedes three runs off his first over.

There's been confirmation today of something I heard quite a few weeks ago. Sean Dickson, the Durham batsman, is off to Somerset next season. He has been at Durham since 2020 and scored five centuries. He also became the first player at the club to score three in a row when doing so earlier this season.

The official reason is so he can be closer to his fiancee and young child. I do wonder though, if things may have been different if Durham had parted company with former coach James Franklin earlier than they did?

Dickson will be a big miss and was among the leading run makers in the country, earlier in the season, until a hamstring injury sidelined him in mid-May.

    Surrey 11-1 v Yorkshire

This has been miserly stuff so far by Ben Coad and Jordan Thompson.

Time for a change, though, as Steve Patterson relieves Thompson, who has 0-9 from his five overs.

  19. Postpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 38-2

Sam Hain ducks under a short ball from David Payne.

The next ball is squeezed out between bat and pad to square leg for Hain's first run. He's faced 15 balls.

Dom Sibley is struck on the glove next ball - but there's no short leg and the ball lands safely.

  20. Division Two updatepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

It's been a good morning so far for Leicestershire's Michael Finan, who has bowled Sam Robson for seven and Middlesex are 34-2.

Glamorgan have lost their first wicket against Derbyshire, with Eddie Byrom caught off Anuj Dal for 13. David Lloyd is 23 not out and they are 44-1 in the 10th over.

They are now back on at the Riverside following a passing shower and Sussex are 6-1 in the fifth against Durham.
