    Worcs 34-2 v Notts

Jake Libby is starting to find his touch and timing here.

Ball is getting the cherry to move away off the seam, but not always quite the line to force the batter to play.

An edge by Libby is put down by Brett Hutton at slip. Not easy as it was quick and low.

    He's very cross.

    Hants v Kent 7-2

Kent continue to creep along at the Ageas Bowl, as they look to recover from the early loss of Muyeye and Bell-Drummond. They are also without the services of Joe Denly for this game after his wife gave birth yesterday.

Captain Jack Leaning has faced 24 deliveries, but is still yet to score.

Keith Barker and Mohammed Abbas, as ever, are giving nothing away.

Durham v Sussex 2-1 - rain stopped play

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham won the toss and put Sussex in. It was a good toss to win because it's gloomy and the lights are on. There's also a bit of rain about, although none was forecast.

It didn't take long for Matty Potts to gain his first victim of the day as Tom Haines chased a ball he should have left in the fourth over and was caught behind for a seven-ball duck.

It's Potts' 50th championship wicket of the season and he's only playing in his ninth match because of England duty. It's also the first time he has reached the milestone. He took 23 last season.

The keeper who took the catch is Warwickshire's Chris Benjamin. He has joined Durham for the final two games of the season following injury to Tom Mackintosh.

    Somerset 15-0 v Northants

Ben Sanderson's figures so far are five overs bowled, 0-2.

But there are ones and twos for Imam-ul-Haq and Tom Lammonby as they advance to 11 and four respectively.

  5. Postpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 32-2

Ajeet-Singh Dale is off after just three overs, replaced by Tom Price.

Just a couple of runs come from his first over.

Payne is bowling a little wide of off stump and Sam Hain shoulders arms.

Gloucestershire have the advantage but need to make Warwickshire play more.

Josh Bohannon survived a very close LBW shout off his first delivery, but no such luck on this occasion.

A change of ends for Sam Cook has done the trick, and Lancashire are in a wee bit of strife.

  7. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Riversidepublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Durham v Sussex 2-1

Earlier on, we confidently suggested that rain was unlikely to interrupt today's play in the Championship.

Clearly we should have looked more closely at the forecast for Chester-le-Street.

Matthew Potts was two balls into his second over when the umpires took the teams off.

  8. wicket

WICKET Wells b Snater 15published at 11:01 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Essex v Lancs 25-1

Just when Luke Wells looked set, Shane Snater sneaks one between bat and pad and knocks back off-stump.

It brings Josh Bohannon to the crease.

  9. Postpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Surrey 8-1 v Yorkshire

Bazball this very much isn't - not yet, anyway.

Hashim Amla punches Ben Coad through the leg-side but the timing isn't great and he has to settle for two.

  10. Postpublished at 10:57 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Surrey 6-1 v Yorkshire

Hashim Amla tucks Jordan Thompson's final delivery of the sixth over away for a single to keep the strike.

He may be England's number three, but Ollie Pope is down to bat at four for Surrey in this game, with Ben Foakes to follow.

  11. dropped catch

Postpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Essex v Lancs 17-0

A steady start for Lancashire's opening pair of Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells in the first six overs.

Wells has had a life, hammering a drive straight back at Jamie Porter, who got a hand to it, but couldn't cling on.

  12. wicket

WICKET Ali c Moores b Ball 6published at 10:55 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Worcs v Notts 19-2

Two wickets now for Jake Ball!

Azhar Ali tries to leave a ball that moves in off the seam and brushes the shoulder of the bat.

Simple catch for keeper Tom Moores.

The Pears are in all kinds of trouble on a seaming wicket.

Jack Haynes is the new batter.

    Somerset 8-0 v Northants

First boundary of the day for Somerset as Imam ul-Haq drives Jack White through mid-on. Quality stoke.

  14. Great start for Gloucesterpublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 24-2

That's a wicket each for the opening bowlers, Payne and Dale.

The new batter is Sam Hain, who has recently passed 1000 Championship runs for the Bears.

Crucial partnership - especially after the two early scalps.

  15. wicket

WICKET Davies b Payne 3published at 10:52 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 24-2

The new batter is Alex Davies, who shoulders arms and leaves Payne outside the off stump.

Bowled him! Davies looks to drive a straighter ball, misses and loses the top of off stump.

The ball nipped back slightly off the seam and he was through the drive way too early.

  16. wicket

WICKET Burns c TKC b Coad 0published at 10:47 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Surrey 4-1 v Yorkshire

    Rory BurnsImage source, Rex Features

Big breakthrough for Yorkshire at the start of Ben Coad's third over.

He is right on the spot from round the wicket and the ball nibbles away to take the edge and Tom Kohler-Cadmore takes the catch in the slips.

An early setback for the Division One leaders - but they have the reassuring figure of Hashim Amla walking to the crease.

  17. wicket

WICKET Pollock b Ball 0published at 10:46 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Worcs 9-1 v Notts

    Out! Horrid shot. Just...horrid.

Ed Pollock gets into an awful mess with an attempted cover drive and scoops the ball into his stumps.

The new batter is Azhar Ali.

  18. Division Two updatepublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

Middlesex have lost Mark Stoneman early at Grace Road, lbw to Michael Finan for four. They are 8-1 in the third over.

England's Matthew Potts has an early breakthrough for Durham, removing Tom Haines for a duck - and Sussex are 2-1 in the fourth. It's Potts' 50th Championship wicket of the season.

Glamorgan have made a positive start against Derbyshire at Sophia Gardens and are 15-0 in the third.

WICKET Yates c Taylor b Dale 19published at 10:45 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Gloucs v Warwks 21-1

Rob Yates has 11 runs to his name already.

Ajeet Singh-Dale induces a loose shot from the opener outside off stump - but no edge.

A much fuller ball is driven straight down the ground for four.

A shorter ball is pulled away for four more.

Out this time! Dale finds the shoulder of the bat outside off and the opener fences the ball to Jack Taylor at slip.

  20. wicket

    WICKET Bell-Drummond c Donald b Abbas 0published at 10:41 British Summer Time 20 September 2022

    Hants v Kent 1-2

Another Kent batter goes without scoring.

Daniel Bell-Drummond nibbles at one outside his off-stump, and Aneurin Donald gobbles up the chance behind the stumps.

A horror start for Kent, a wonderful one for Hampshire.
