It should have been out. Wong was in and then out. In the end she is five yards off the rope and it bounces on the rope.

  2. 6 runs

    Ind 71-1published at 11 overs

    Target 228

Oh, this isn't great from Issy Wong.

Yastika Bhatia flicks off her legs and it goes down towards Wong at fine leg. It goes over her head, because she is about five yards in, but the ball only bounces on the boundary rope to go for six.

If she is stood on the rope she takes the catch and England have a much-needed wicket.

The following ball is worked fine for four too. Obviously. That's just cricket, isn't it?

As a comparison England were 26-2 after 10 overs. India are 59-1.

It has been a good powerplay from India. They are in control.

They went about the powerplay better than England did. They have been too aggressive. Beaumont and Lamb sat in too much.

  5. Ind 59-1published at 10 overs

    Mandhana 27, Bhatia 25

A look at spin to end the powerplay, as off-spinner Charlie Dean comes into the attack.

It is a decent start from the 21-year-old, twice finding the inside edge, but the second slides away down the hill and runs away for four.

India have definitely won the powerplay. They've won both today, considering they reduced England to 26-2 earlier.

Mandhana plays that shot so well.

    Beautiful stroke.

  8. Ind 53-1published at 9 overs

    Target 228

A change for England as Issy Wong is replaced by Alice Davidson-Richards.

It feels like England have got their lengths wrong so far and that is definitely the case in ADR's first over as Smriti Mandhana is twice able to find the boundary with pull shots.

    England need a wicket.

This is the Charlie Dean catch that removed Shafali Verma in the second over.

But is it better than Harmanpreet Kaur's to dismiss Alice Capsey earlier.

    I'll let you decide.

That is a bad review from Kate Cross and Amy Jones.

It has pitched an extra stump outside leg stump.

  11. Not outpublished at 8 overs

    Ind 45-1

A terrible review. The ball is pitching a mile outside leg stump.

I wasn't expecting England to go for that review.

I don't think it is out.

  13. England reviewpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 18 September 2022

England have decided to review an lbw shout against Yastika Bhatia.

It seems very reluctant from Amy Jones.

Is it too high? Is it pitching outside leg?

These two have played their shots and been positive. You feel if India are going to chase these runs down then these two will have to get the block of them.

  15. Ind 41-1published at 7 overs

    Target 228

This is fast becoming a brilliant start for India.

Yastika Bhatia didn't play her last short ball very well but she climbs into this one and crunches away a pull shot.

A second boundary follows as Smriti Mandhana again just leans on a drive. Is there a better timer of the ball in the women's game?

Issy Wong is struggling. She's gone for 26 from her four overs. England can't afford to leak runs with only 227 runs on the board. This is where their bowling line-up could be exposed with Katherine Brunt and Nat Sciver both unavailable.

Kate Cross has found some inswing towards Bhatia and Mandhana.

  17. Ind 30-1published at 6 overs

    Target 228

England are taking a leaf out of India's book here with Amy Jones coming up to the stumps for Kate Cross. It was something that India did really effectively early on in the innings and it did help to restrict England.

Just a leg bye from the over, with did bring about an appeal from England, but it was always shaping down the leg side.

  18. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 18 September 2022

Alice Davidson-Richards batted brilliantly earlier to make her maiden ODI half-century.

If England win this game her unbeaten 50 will have played a large part.

  19. Ind 29-1published at 5 overs

    Target 228

I could genuinely watch Smriti Mandhana bat all day long. She picks up another boundary with a gorgeous drive. She doesn't try to hit it too hard, she just leans on it, but she is such a good timer of the ball she always gets full value for her shots.

She gets a little bit of luck to end the over as an inside edge just misses the base of the stumps.

This is becoming a very good start for India. England struggled to 26-2 in the 10-over powerplay don't forget.

I think the ball was closer to Jones than she thought. Maybe she could have gone with two hands.
