    Croft c Lawrence b J Cook 2 (Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 90-3)

Stephen Croft looks annoyed with himself. The experienced Lancashire man is out after he attempted to drive Sam Cook but instead sees the ball land inthe hands of Dan Lawrence at third slip. That was a good reaction catch - the ball was travelling.

    Notts 256 v Soms 151-9

We finally see some spin as Liam Patterson-White is on for some left-arm spin to try to wheedle this last Somerset wicket out.

Somerset are still over 100 behind but this has been a decent fightback since that clatter of wickets.

    Warwickshire 367-3 v Kent

Some people are on the pitch, they think there's a cricket match... there is now!

Sam Hain is one of them, unbeaten on 124. Dan Mousley at the other end has 72 from 78 balls and will be eyeing a maiden century.

Conor McKerr will deliver the first ball of the day.

    Northants 198 v Middlesex 147

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Middlesex's morning without a doubt as seven wickets fell for 87 runs but, after Rob Keogh topped things up, all eyes on the visiting top order who face a tricky deficit to knock off.

In their first three innings of the season the Middlesex top three, all Test batters, have contributed 16 runs between them.

As a top four it's 63 runs between them in total and Steven Eskenazi hit 37 of those in the second innings again Essex.

Now is the time to put that right and the clear calibre of the line up means the only question hanging over them is when and not if.

Another slow start to the second innings here though will see Northamptonshire maintain their grip on the game so far and leave the visitors facing a second defeat in two games since promotion.

    Notts 256 v Soms 146-9

The game at Trent Bridge rolls on as the hosts seek the final wicket.

And we have Broad v Siddle, a clash that has graced many Ashes Tests in the past. To be fair, the Aussie has looked untroubled so far.

    Bohannon b Porter 28 (Essex 219 v Lancs 207 & 83-2)

It's lunch at Chester-le-Street, and Worcestershire have lost just the one wicket today.

    Northants 198-9 v Middlesex 149

Boom boom Rob Keogh. The Northants batter, perhaps not synonymous with expansive strokeplay, took two fours off Ryan Higgins' first five balls before he ended the over with a six straight down the ground. That's helped Northants boost their lead to 49. How valuable will these runs prove to be in the context of the match?

    Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254

Mohammad Abbas finishes with 6-64, taking him to 622 first-class wickets at an average of 20.51. Some bowler.

There were also two apiece for James Fuller and Kyle Abbott. Poor old Keith Barker will be scratching his head at finishing with 0-63. He deserved something to show for his skill and effort.

    Notts 256 v Soms 131-9

With one wicket remaining, Nottinghamshire can make Somerst bat on for another 30 minutes beyond when lunch should be taken at 13:10.

Josh Davey smashes Lyndon James for six, and the next delivery leaves home keeper Tom Moores in a lot of pain after climbing on him and giving him a finger injury

He trundles off with the physio, Joe Clarke takes the gloves and just to rub it in Davey then clubs the next ball over midwicket for another six.

    Worrall b Abbas 2 (Surrey 270 v Hampshire 254)

Sean Abbott gets off strike and next ball Dan Worrall's middle-stump is uprooted by Mohammad Abbas.

Surrey have a lead of 16 thanks to the fireworks from Abbott who finishes unbeaten on 52 from 40 balls.

    Lunch will be taken.

    Phew. What a session.

for Abbottpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 269-9 v Hampshire 254

Sean Abbott has walloped Mohammad Abbas into the stands for six from the first ball of his over.

    Fifty from 37 balls. Wow.

A brutal onslaught showing absolutely no respect to Hampshire's storied attack. The fielders are scattering everywhere. These could be priceless runs.

    Northants 180-9 v Middlesex 149

Strap yourself in, Rob Keogh has finally decided now is the time to get some quick runs before Northants are dismissed. A few big swishes of the blade to Ryan Higgins' first couple of deliveries are followed by a dab into the ground.

However, Keogh opens up his stance and heaves across the line for a big six. Northants now have a lead of 31.

  16. Postpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Surrey 262-9 v Hampshire 254

James Fuller slips in the field and Sean Abbott's big hit goes through for four runs.

That's a first batting bonus point for the hosts.

Abbott follows up with an almighty crack over that short square leg boundary to give Surrey the lead and then gets down on one knee to smash back past Keith Barker for another four.

Abbott has 44 from 34 balls but he's broken his bat attempting to launch the next ball to Vauxhall. Just the 16 off the over.

    Good watch, this.

WICKETpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Sanderson c Simpson b Roland-Jones 5 (Northants 174-9 v Middlesex 149)

Ben Sanderson is the sixth Northants wicket to fall in the morning session after he is caught behind off the bowling of Toby Roland-Jones.

Middlesex skipper Roland-Jones nibbled two deliveries outside of Sanderson's off stump before the Northants tailender edged finely into the gleeful hands of wicketkeeper John Simpson. Beautiful shape on that delivery.

Rob Keogh (54 not out) has yet to go after the bowling with the tail, perhaps thinking every run will be valuable in what looks to be a low-scoring affair. A lead of just 25 at the moment for Northants.

WICKETpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Roach lbw b Abbas 5 (Surrey 246-9 v Hampshire 254)

Vintage Mohammad Abbas and it's a fivefer. Plenty of movement and Kemar Roach is struck on the back leg. No arguments.

Abbas kisses the pitch in celebration. Lovely. He's so pleased.

Dan Worrall is the last man and gets off the mark with a thick edge.

    Notts 256 v Soms 110-8

Josh Davey gets Somerst past the follow-on with a lovely cover drive for four off Stuart Broad.

Somerset still have Peter Siddle to come, and he has a first class ton to his name so you never know...
