This already feels like a long day, but a quick look at the scoreboard reveals there are still 80 overs to go today.
Only 74 runs have been added in an hour and 40 minutes. Worcestershire appear to be in no hurry. But their methodical approach has seen Jack Haynes and Brett D'Oliveira put 50 on in 14 overs.
In contrast Ed Pollock had 50 on the board with Jake Libby yesterday, inside six overs.
Just one wicket has fallen today. Libby was caught at second slip by David Bedingham, off Paul Coughlin, for 26. And that seems like hours ago.
Warwickshire 367-3 v Kent
Not great news. There will be another inspection at 13:00 BST so that dream of a 13:10 BST start is out the window.
At least they'll have full tummies when they do get on, though!
Surrey 234-8 v Hampshire 254
Kemar Roach negotiates the hat-trick ball from Mohammad Abbas.
He and Sean Abbott will now set their sights on inching closer to Hampshire's total.
What a game this is turning into.
Notts 256 v Soms 105-8)
Jack Leach doesn't often unveil his full range of shots, but here he clubs Brett Hutton down the ground for four to get to within two of the follow-on. Then he tries it again and is nowhere near the ball.
That 92 in a Test match feels like a very long time ago.
Lawes lbw b Abbas 0 (Surrey 234-8 v Hampshire 254)
First ball duck. Tom Lawes has to go.
Mohammad Abbas is on a hat-trick.
Hampshire remain 20 ahead. What a fightback.
Notts 256 v Soms 101-8
Josh Davey gets Somerset over the 100-mark with a swipe through the offside for a much-needed boundary.
Pope b Abbas 91 (Surrey 234-7 v Hampshire 254)
He's gone. Ollie Pope shapes to cut and then shifts to dab down to third but Abbas angles it in and Pope drags it onto his stumps.
His average on this ground was 96.78 at the start of play and it felt an inevitability he'd reach three figures.
He's negotiated all sorts of testing conditions, been on and off the field, faced one of the best bowling attacks on these shores, survived numerous appeals and edges, but he falls just short of another milestone.
Surrey 226-6 v Hampshire 254
Finally Abbott to Abbott and it's worth the wait. It's Abbott who comes out on top.
Sean clubs Kyle away into the covers for a quick two and two balls later launches a full-blooded on-drive to the ropes.
Wait, there's another... a beautifully-timed drive to deep mid-wicket to finish the over. Abbott is onto 24 from 25 balls. Surrey are 20 behind.
Notts 256 v Soms 95-8
Brett Hutton's career best bowling is 8-57, so he has a good chance of bettering that today but the first order of business will be to get Somerset out before the follow-on mark of 107.
Surrey 223-6 v Hampshire 254
Kyle Abbott takes the new ball for Hampshire at the first opportunity.
Sean Abbott is not on strike. Ollie Pope will face, and we're all hoping for a single right?
Tremain lbw b Higgins 5 (Northants 165-8 v Middlesex 149)
Chris Tremain survived an appeal earlier in the over against Ryan Higgins but he's absolutely plumb in front to his fourth ball and the umpire's finger is up as quick as a flash.
Rob Keogh might open up now, perhaps?
Northants 165-7 v Middlesex 149
Rob Keogh has backed up his unbeaten hundred against Kent in the first round of County Championship matches with a half-century against Middlesex.
Surrey 217-6 v Hampshire 254
James Fuller produces three absolute jaffas in succession and Sean Abbott's heart must be in his mouth.
The sun is out but the old ball is swinging past the outside edge alarmingly from a Surrey perspective. Something for James Vince to ponder.
Rex b Hutton 18 (Notts 256 v Soms 83-8)
And another!
Beautiful stuff from Brett Hutton to the left-hander James Rew, it draws him forward but jags past the outside edge to clip off stump.
Here's Jack Leach, can he get Somerset past the follow-on mark?
Notts 256 v Soms 87-7
Brett Hutton's hat-trick ball.....and Josh Davey plays it off his pads through midwicket for four!
Always the way.
Brett Hutton has 5-27, and will have the chance for a hat-trick when his next over rolls around.
A wet outfield means an early lunch has been taken at the County Ground after a frustrating morning for Essex and Lancashire fans who have yet to see a ball bowled today. Lunch will be taken at 12:30 (BST) with play set to get underway at 13:10.
C Overton lbw 0 b Hutton (Notts 356 v Soms 80-7)
Craig Overton goes first ball!
Brett Hutton pins the burly all-rounder on the front pad, it looks leg-stumpish but the umpire sends Overton back to leave the bowler on a hat-trick.
Gregory b Hutton 5 (Notts 256 v Soms 80-6)
Bowled all over the place!
Lewis Gregory goes for a dreadful-looking legside hoick, and his middle stump goes cartwheeling out of the ground.
Somerset are in genuine danger opf failing to make the follow-on target of 107 here.
