  1. wicket

    WICKET - Malan c Billings b Stewart 3published at 13:58 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 37-2 v Kent 186

Biiiig swing from Grant Stewart, Pieter Malaw tilts sideways as he plays across the line and sends a tiny nick down the legside for Sam Billings to pouch. Another meagre score from the Middlesex top order. Kent are cock-a-hoop.

Skipper Stephen Eskinazi is the new batter.

  2. Oval game to be dedicated to Florence Dunnpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

Surrey and Middlesex are to dedicate their County Championship game at the Oval from 11-14 May to the memory of Florence Dunn.

The two-year-old daughter of Surrey bowler Matt Dunn died last month aged two from a rare form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome that affects about one in every 15,000 children born in the UK.

Members of the family are running 5km every day next month to raise awareness of the condition and to raise funds for Dravet Syndrome UK and the Surrey and Middlesex players will wear special commemorative caps that will then be auctioned off.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the cricket family for the support we have received over the last few weeks," said a statement from Matt and wife Jessica Dunn.

    Warwickshire 150 v Surrey 30-2

An even morning at Edgbaston with Warwickshire fighting back well with the ball after managing to add only seven runs to their overnight 143-8.

Dan Worrall took 4-38 for Surrey, who then lost ex-Bears opener Dom Sibley and England's Ollie Pope in 18 overs before the interval.

Rory Burns is 13 not out and Ryan Patel picks up a couple from Hasan Ali's final ball to move to three.

  4. Postpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

  5. wicket

WICKET Pope - lbw Ali 8published at 13:29 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 26-2

A brilliant bowling change by the Bears as Hasan Ali's second delivery brings about the downfall of Ollie Pope.

The England batter takes a couple of steps down the track but plays right across the line and the umpire decides it was hitting.

Pope doesn't seem thrilled by the decision. Ryan Patel is the new batter for Surrey in his 50th first-class game.

    Leicestershire 373-7 v Glamorgan

  11. Lunch at Grace Roadpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 373-7 v Glamorgan

That monster stand from Rehan Ahmed (90) and Peter Handscomb (79*) has put Leicestershire into the ascendancy at Leicester.

You'd presume they'll have their eyes on another bonus point en route to a total in the region of 450 when they get back out there this afternoon. Glamorgan will be desperate to find these last few wickets.

  12. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 35-1 v Kent 186

After a blockbuster first three overs, things have calmed down somewhat at Lord's.

Sam Robson has 19 from 24 at lunch with Pieter Malan on two from 17 balls.

Wes Agar has beaten the bat on a few occasions but Kent will be keen to avoid any lengthy partnerships forming when they return from luncheon.

  13. Postpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 16-1

Rory Burns whips Chris Woakes away for four from the final ball of the England man's over.

There is an appeal for leg-before against Ollie Pope at the start of the next, bowled by Chris Rushworth, but the umpire is unmoved.

  14. wicket

WICKET AND LUNCHpublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Durham 552-9d v Derbys 0-1 (Godleman lbw b Raine 0)

There was time for an over of the Derbyshire reply before lunch and Durhm have struck fifth ball!

Ben Raine is full and straight to the left-handed Billy Godleman who falls over and is plumb lbw.

Horrible for Derbyshire who take soup and sarnies very much up against it.

  15. wicket

    WICKET - Scriven c Cooke b Lloyd 13published at 13:08 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Leicestershire 366-7 v Glamorgan

Another for Glamorgan as David Lloyd gets Tom Scriven to push forward and feather a nick to Chris Cooke who tumbles to his right behind the timbers.

Chris Wright strides out to join Peter Handscomb, who remains there on 78.

  16. Postpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Middlesex 30-1 v Kent 186

Early bowling change for Kent with Grant Stewart tossed the ball for the sixth over.

He immediately finds the edge of Sam Robson's bat, the ball flashing through backward point to the ropes. The only runs to come from his opening set.

Late lunch today, of course, as they are trying to cram 104 overs in after yesterday's weather-related havoc.

  17. wicket

WICKET Sibley c Yates b Rushworth 5published at 13:03 British Summer Time 28 April 2023

    Warwicks 150 v Surrey 12-1

Clive Eakin's words (see 1:02 entry) pay instant dividends for Warwickshire as Dom Sibley edges an excellent delivery from Chris Rushworth to first slip.

Good captaincy by Will Rhodes as keeper Michael Burgess stands up to the stumps to apply extra pressure.

Former Durham seamer Rushworth is taking to bowling in Division One like a duck to water, which is just as well given the weather we've had recently.
