  1. Bad light stops play at Canterburypublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Kent 95 v Hants 103-0

It's pretty gloomy at Canterbury, and the umpires take the players from the field.

We have only managed 4.1 overs so far today.

    That might be that.

  2. Postpublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Durham v Yorks 65-3 lead by 92

Umpires have had a check of the light at Chester-le-Street.

The floodlights have been on for a while and the shadows around the players are getting stronger.

But we're okay for now with 19 overs remaining scheduled.

Dawid Malan has just driven Ben Raine beautifully past extra-cover and Yorkshire are nudging their lead towards three figures.

    Westley lbw b Barnard 28 (Warwickshire 242 v Essex 126 & 46-2)

    That is plumb.

Tom Westley has batted nicely for his 28, but is trapped bang in front by Ed Barnard.

  4. Postpublished at 17:24 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Northants 158 v Notts 87-3

Joe Clarke and Matt Montgommery are trying to pick Notts up after the loss of three wickets in 11 balls just before tea.

Clarke has driven Tom Taylor very sweetly past extra cover for four.

Montgommery has done likewise and also added a deflection off the front foot to third man.

    Notts remain in control.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Wells c & b Henry 1 (Lancs 5-1 v Somerset 361)

    Brilliant from Matt Henry!

Luke Wells punches a full delivery from the New Zealand seamer back at the bowler, and Henry shows excellent reflexes to parry the ball up in the air, before grabbing it at the second attempt.

Josh Bohannon trots to the middle to join George Balderson.

    We have play at Canterbury!

Joe Weatherley scores the first runs of day two, edging Michael Hogan for four all along the ground.

    The visitors are 275-4.

Worcestershire have moved into the lead at Glamorgan with four second-innings wickets remaining. They lead by one run on 150-6.

Jonny Bairstow and Dawid Malan are in the middle for Yorkshire who are 51-3 in their second innings against Durham. Yorkshire lead by 78.

And at Derbyshire, opener Harry Came is holding the innings together. He's 59 not out in their 130-5 against Gloucestershire where bad light has stopped play.

  8. Bad light stops play at The Ovalpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Surrey 190-3 v Middlesex 209

It's been pretty gloomy all afternoon with the floodlights on.

The generally gentle nature of the Middlesex attack has kept them out there for quite a while.

But sadly it's now too dark and remains to be seen if it might brighten up for any more play.

The ball before the umpires had a look at the meters, Jamie Smith was put down at first slip off Ethan Bamber.

A simple chance to the fielder's left that should have been taken.

  9. 50 runs

partnershippublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Surrey 190-3 v Middlesex 209

Jamie Smith now flicks Ethan Bamber up and over midwicket for four more and brings up the fifty partnership with Ben Foakes, who is 22.

  10. 50 runs

for Jamie Smithpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Surrey 186-3 v Middlesex 209

This has been a very pretty innings from Jamie Smith.

He takes Tim Murtagh for back-to-back boundaries, first with a punchy straight drive and then a whip wide of mid-on.

Another leg side clip for three gives him fifty in 83 balls with eight fours and six.

Surrey getting right on top with 31 overs remaining.

  11. wicket

SOMERSET ALL OUTpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Leach c Vilas b Williams 9 (Lancs v Somerset 361)

    What a catch!

Jack Leach hits Will Williams aerially down the ground, and must have thought he would pick up four, but Dane Vilas takes a stunning diving catch at long-on.

From 12-3 yesterday morning, that's a seriously good effort from Somerset.

Their seam bowlers will fancy taking a few Lancashire wickets this evening now.

  12. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:56 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Lancs v Somerset 352-9

Matt Henry has taken a real liking to Tom Hartley's left-arm spin.

He takes 21 from the latest over, including three mighty sixes.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Browne b Rushworth 2 (Warwickshire 242 v Essex 126 & 6-1)

Are you watching Ben Stokes? Get Chris Rushworth in the Ashes squad!

This is an absolute beauty, spearing in at Nick Browne, before nipping away and flicking the top of off.

    Play that.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Overton lbw b Williams 35 (Lancs v Somerset 329-9)

Craig Overton has carried Somerset to a more than respectable score following James Rew's departure, but he is trapped lbw by Will Williams.

Jack Leach is the last man, joining Matt Henry in the middle.

  15. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Northants 158 v Notts 75-3

A very bad day so far for Northants.

Not only did they lose a ridiculous 7-17 earlier to throw away their solid start, on their way to being rolled for only 158, they also leaked nine boundaries in the opening 12 overs of Notts' reply.

They finally got themselves going with three wickets in 11 balls but it's all Notts at Wantage Road.

30 overs left in the day.

  16. Glamorgan eye two-day winpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Glamorgan 258 v Worcs 109 & 124-6

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan went into the final session of the day eyeing the improbable prospect of a two-day finish after Worcestershire failed to improve much on their first-innings effort with the bat.

Trailing by 149, Worcestershire lost six wickets in a lengthy afternoon session with the in-form Timm van der Gugten taking four of them to tally 27 for the season.

Only Azhar Ali, with a patient 34, and Adam Hose, with an aggressive 35, threatened to make any sort of inroads into the deficit.

Left-armer Jamie McIlroy, switching constantly between round and over the wicket, claimed the other two to fall.

Worcestershire still need 25 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Hannon-Dalby c Pepper b Snater 18 (Warwickshire 242 v Essex 126)

Warwickshire's fun comes to an end.

After all the swashbuckling strokes in this 10th wicket partnership, it's a tame defensive prod that draws the wicket.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby dangles his bat at Shane Snater and feathers one through to Michael Pepper.

    The lead is 116.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Slater c Vasconcelos b Buckingham 5 (Northants 158 v Notts 67-3)

A third wicket in 11 balls for Northants.

And a real goodun from Jordan Buckingham.

He nips one across the left-handed Ben Slater who edges to first slip.

  19. Umpire reviewpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Surrey 161-3 v Middlesex 209

    Run out at The Oval?

Ooo Jamie Smith is just home!

He dabbed leg side and called for a single that Ben Foakes refused.

Smith was a long way down and has to dive home and is saved by a throw that was wide enough to make John Simpson have to reach over the stumps and waste a frame or two breaking the stumps.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Hameed c Vasconcelos b Taylor 19 (Northants 158 v Notts 63-2)

Tom Taylor strikes twice in five balls!

Full around fifth stump, Haseeb Hameed goes hard at it and nicks low to first slip.

Both openers quickly removed. Can Northants mount a fightback?
