  1. 50 runs

for Will Rhodespublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Warwickshire v Essex 126

Warwickshire's captain tucks a single down to fine leg, and reaches 50 from 135 balls.

He's played well, but will want plenty more this afternoon as the hosts look for a big first innings lead.

  2. 150 runs

up for Durhampublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Durham 150-6 v Yorks 254

Brydon Carse, on 9, is now with Graham Clark, 25, as Durham try to mount another recovery.

Still Yorkshire in the driving seat at Chester-le-Street.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Sibley c Eskinazi b Bamber 13 (Surrey 49-1 v Middlesex 209)

Ethan Bamber strikes with his third ball!

Dom Sibley takes a wander at him but turns the bat and he tries to block and nicks to first slip.

Floodlights on at The Oval and batting is a little tricky.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:10 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Mousley lbw b Snater 1 (Warwickshire 110-4 v Essex 126)

Another one for Essex and Shane Snater.

Snater, bowling round the wicket, hits Dan Mousley's front pad, and after a long deliberation, the umpire gives Warwickshire's number five out.

Looked high to me, although there's a suggestion that he might have been given out caught...

  5. Back under way at The Ovalpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Surrey 48-0 v Middlesex 209

The weather has cleared up at The Oval.

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are out there again to resume Surrey's reply.

And Burns clips Tim Murtagh beautifully off his legs through mid-wicket for four.

  6. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Lancs v Somerset 195-5

Another slip catch goes down for Lancashire.

James Rew cuts hard at a short, wide Will Williams delivery, and Rob Jones just about gets finger tips to it high above his head.

A tough chance, but still a chance.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Hain b Snater 45 (Warwickshire 108-3 v Essex 126)

    That's an absolute jaffa!

The lunch break does for Sam Hain, who is cleaned up by Shane Snater in the second over of the afternoon session.

Snater gets one to nip away from Hain, and it just clips the top of off-stump.

Dan Mousley joins captain Will Rhodes in the middle.

  8. Play to start at 14:00 at Derbypublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Derbyshire v Gloucestershire

Conditions have improved at the Incora County Ground and we're going to get some action in this Division Two fixture!

Gloucestershire have won the toss and elected to bowl.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Robinson c Bairstow b Revis 44 (Durham 132-6 v Yorks 254)

Yorkshire break the useful sixth-wicket stand straight after lunch!

Ollie Robinson goes to cut a wide ball from Matt Revis but it's all hands, no feet. He's reaching for it and gets a tickle of an under edge through to Jonny Baristow.

    Durham back under pressure.

  10. Northants in disarraypublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

Northants 137-9 v Notts - lunch, day two

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

An extraordinary collapse has left Northamptonshire in disarray here at Wantage Road, albeit in overhead conditions tailor-made for Nottinghamshire's seam attack.

From a relatively comfortable 113-2, with Ricardo Vasconcelos and Saif Zaib in possession, the home side crumbled to 137-9 when light rain prompted an early lunch. They lost seven wickets for 17 runs inside a dozen overs, four of them to returning old boy Brett Hutton - bowling with superb control - whose victims included Vasconcelos for a battling 62.

Northamptonshire might claim an overcast morning with dampness in the air made life that much easier for Hutton and his colleagues, but not for the first time this season their top order has been ruthlessly exposed by high-quality pace bowling.

It's still raining, so there will be a delay to the restart.

  11. Drama in Bristolpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Second XI Championship

While the first XIs take lunch, we can have a look at an amazing game in the second XI Championship between Gloucestershire and Surrey at Bristol.

Surrey, featuring Conor McKerr, Dan Moriarty and Amar Virdi who all have plenty of first team cricket between them, took a first-innings lead of 147 but were then shot out for 129 to leave the Glosters 277 for victory.

The hosts were 177-9 and about to lose comfortably but Jared Warner has made 83 from number 10 and Luke Charlesworth 34 at number 11 to see Gloucestershire home!

  12. Sussex survive tricky sessionpublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

Leics v Sussex 91-2 - lunch, day two

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Honours about even at a cold, blustery, gloomy Grace Road with the morning session played under lights.

It was no surprise that Lewis Hill asked Sussex to bat, although initially the Sussex openers Tom Clark and Ali Orr looked comfortable against slightly indifferent bowling .

However Clark then played on to a ball he could have left outside his off stump, and Orr trapped lbw - both wickets taken by the newly capped Wiaan Mulder.

Thereafter the Leicestershire bowlers bowled an excellent line and length to Tom Alsop and Cheteshwar Pujara who did well to survive a tricky session and steer the visitors to lunch just two down.

  13. Anderson being assessedpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

Lancashire v Somerset 181-5 - lunch, day two

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire commentator

James Anderson hasn't been seen since leaving the field at the end of his second spell yesterday, a six over spell that finished shortly before the rain arrived.

We're told it's a 'minor issue which is being assessed'.

It leaves Lancashire without their best bowler and will leave England feeling a little uneasy about just how minor the problem is.

  14. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Lancs v Somerset 181-5

Somerset have rather plodded along this morning, as both sides struggled to find any sort of impetus.

Lancashire did take the one wicket, as Daryl Mitchell removed Tom Lammonby for a hard-fought 38, but have struggled to make further inroads in the absence of James Anderson.

The real bright spot has been young James Rew. The 19-year-old left-hander has batted wonderfully well, driving through the offside, and pulling anything short to the leg-side boundary.

    He is unbeaten on 68.

  15. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Warwickshire 104-2 v Essex 126

Sam Hain and Will Rhodes see off one over of Matt Critchley's leg-spin with relative ease, and head off for a well-earned cup of tea and some lunch.

The Warwickshire pair have batted all morning, putting the hosts firmly in command at Edgbaston.

Hain has 45, while Rhodes has 44.

  16. 6 runs

Postpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Lancs v Somerset 177-5

Somerset have ticked along rather serenely all morning at just over two runs per over, but Kasey Aldridge has seen enough.

None of this blocking out until lunch nonsense, he charges George Balderson and deposits him for six back over the bowler's head.

  17. Lunch at Wantage Roadpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Northants 137-9 v Notts

Ordinarily they'd keep playing with Northants nine down but some weather sees them off for lunch in Northampton.

A crazy hour has seen the home side lose 7-17!

Notts have ripped through them with four wickets for Brett Hutton.

From 113-2, it has very quickly become a truly awful first innings for Northants.

  18. GLAMORGAN ALL OUTpublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Glamorgan 258 v Worcestershire 109

Michael Neser is caught at point off Joe Leach and is last man out for an excellent 86.

    Glamorgan have a first-innings lead of 149 - that should be a match-winning advantage.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Buckingham lbw b Paterson 0 (Northants 130-9 v Notts)

Australian Jordan Buckingham lasts just three balls.

Dane Paterson goes full and straight and the Victorian simply misses to be plumb lbw.

  20. Bad light and lunchpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Durham 124-5 v Yorks 254

Morning session curtailed as the light closes in.

First part to Yorkshire with three quick wickets.

Second part to Durham with Ollie Robinson, 36 not out, and Graham Clark, 16, sharing a stand of 52.
