    Borthwick c Lyth b Fisher 35 (Durham 65-4 v Yorks 254)

10 balls later and an even more significant wicket for Yorkshire.

Scott Borthwick pushes hard at a good length ball just outside off and nicks it low to second slip's left.

    Sharp catch from Adam Lyth.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Potts lbw b Thompson 7 (Durham 61-3 v Yorks 254)

Yorkshire have removed the nightwatchman pretty quickly.

Full and straight from Jordan Thompson, it skids through Matty Potts and he's bang in front.

  3. Postpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Nothants 95-2 v Notts

Only one session was possible yesterday at Wantage Road but Northants are back out this morning hoping to build on a nice little partnership that got going before the weather closed in.

They were 36-2 having been sent in but Ricardo Vasconcelos and Saif Zaib got them going.

Steady away in the opening 20 minutes of day two.

  4. rain stops play

Rain stops play at The Ovalpublished at 11:10 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Surrey 26-0 v Middlesex 209

Little under 10 minutes of play on the second morning in SE11 and rain has arrived.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:07 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Lancashire v Somerset 109-4

You'll remember that Lancashire put down three catches yesterday morning, and they've put down another early on day two.

Will Williams squares James Rew up, and finds the outside edge, but Luke Wells cannot hang on to a low catch away to his left.

  6. Postpublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

We're about to get going in seven of the nine matches.

An inspection is taking place at Derbyshire where day one against Gloucestershire was washed out.

Rain is delaying the start between Kent and Hampshire.

    But it's good news elsewhere...

  7. Feels like Februarypublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 12 May 2023

    Durham 42-2 v Yorkshire 254

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Despite the late finish yesterday, there was nothing wrong with the over-rate. In fact it was spot on. As we mentioned on air we had three lengthy delays.

Two for concussion checks and another because Yorkshire's Saud Shakeel received treatment on an ankle injury. He retired hurt, only to return later in the day with a runner.

It was a beautiful day, however. We had sun all day and warmth. But it's like we have gone back a few weeks today. It's grey, cold and miserable. For once we appear to be too far north.

There's lots of mizzle blowing in off the North Sea and it suddenly feels like February. These could well be great conditions for the bowlers.

Durham lost two quick wickets in the 13 overs they had to bat last night, with Michael Jones out for two and Alex Lees for 15. It was a bit of a dent in an otherwise good day after they bowled Yorkshire out for 254. And that was after The Tykes chose to bat.

As ever there will be live ball-by-ball commentary on all matches provided by our BBC local radio teams.

After yesterday was washed out, a toss has taken place at Grace Road this morning and Leicestershire have elected to bowl first.

Australia's Steve Smith and India's Cheteshwar Pujara form part of a formidable looking Sussex middle order.
