    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 388-3

It's remarkable to think that we are just over 21 overs into the new ball at Hove, such is the control the batters have.

Glamorgan only lead by 30 but it feels like 330 given the mood in the field.

The new ball is available to Leicestershire. Chris Wright will take it.

Which way will this one go?

The first runs post-tea and it comes from a ball probably seen countless times up and down the country today.

Jack Carson serves us a juicy full toss to a world class player, on 115. Four runs to Marnus Labuschagne.

It probably would have been four runs wherever it was bowled!

Luke Wells is in a hurry, he has a six and six fours in his 35 off 15 balls.

George Bell has seven runs off three balls. Strike rates for everyone!

This one looks like it might not last the distance.

Alastair Cook chops Stuart Broad down through backward point. There's a man out there so he'll have to settle for one but it's enough to take the Essex total into three figures. Cook is 38 not out.

We've already had three matches finish today, with Surrey, Hampshire and Somerset sealing wins in Division One.

Tom Lawes took 5-22 as Surrey beat Kent by 10 wickets and told BBc Radio London: "It was a very special moment for me to get my first five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. Something I'll never forget.

"Walking off the field at the end of the Kent innings, in front of The Oval pavilion and crowd and, with all my teammates around me, will be a wonderful memory for me in years to come.

"We reckon there is still more to come from us as a team. But this win is a great way to finish this first block of six Championship games."

Miles Hammond faces the hat-trick ball from Matty Potts. Five slips in place.

Hammond just about digs it out by his ankles and survives the final ball of the over.

Potts has 2-1 from two overs.

    Worcs 83 & 201-5 v Leics 173 & 180

Matthew Waite opens his account with a straight drive for four off Will Davis, but a no-ball is the only addition from the final over before tea, bowled by Wiaan Mulder.

Worcestershire looked well on course for their target of n271 when Adam Hose and Gareth Roderick were adding 131 for the fourth wicket.

Hose made 84 and Roderick 59, but both now are gone and this could go wither way. A new ball will be available following the first post-tea over.

Nine an over required when the Lancashire batters head out.

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 376-3

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Ollie Robinson hasn’t been on the field since lunch at Hove, which in itself isn’t a surprise as he’s taken regular breaks throughout the match.

However the fact he’s hasn’t taken the new ball has set tongues wagging and fuelled speculation in the press box.

Certainly in the field this morning Robinson had looked slightly and didn’t appear to be bowling at full tilt.

On the field its been all about Glamorgan and Marnus Labuschagne and Kiran Carlson who have added an unbroken 250 partnership for the fourth wicket against a tired and increasingly weary looking Sussex attack.

The visitors are now in positive territory and whisper it quietly all three results are now a possibility

Durham declared just after 3.30pm meaning Gloucestershire have 46 overs left today and all of tomorrow to chase their target of 426.

Michael Jones remained unbeaten on 121, while Ollie Robinson was out for 67, stumped off Zafar Gohar, to leave the spinner with six wickets in the match. He was expensive though, taking 2-121 in 19 overs today.

The final partnership was worth 94 runs, while the opening stand of 119 was Durham's best against Gloucestershire.

Chris Dent and Marcus Harris stride out to begin Gloucestershire's chase. Just the 426 runs separate them from an incredible victory.

Ben Raine takes the new ball.

Ollie Robinson's blistering 25-ball half-century, which helped Durham post that target, was the fastest in the County Championship for six years, by the way!

  18. Tea at Hovepublished at 15:54 British Summer Time 20 May 2023

    Sussex 481 v Glamorgan 123 & 376-3

Glamorgan help themselves to a trio of singles from the last over of an outstanding session for them.

They have scored 153 in 33 overs at little short of five an over and they now lead by 18.

Marnus Labuschagne has 115 and Kiran Carlson has raced to 136 in a stand of 253. They'll want more of the same after tea.

Remarkably after such a chastening afternoon, the Sussex bowlers know that wicket could change the complexion of things completely.

Leicestershire don't have to wait for the new ball to make a breakthrough. Wiaan Mulder finds a bit of life in the wicket and Colin Ackermann grabs a brilliant two-handed catch diving to his right at second slip.

Gareth Roderick batted for more than five hours and faced 221 balls, hitting just two boundaries. Matthew Waite is the new batter.

Brett D'Oliveira hits the first boundary for what seems like ages at New Road, clipping a wayward ball from Will Davis to fine leg.

Worcestershire need another 79 to win. The good news for Leicestershire is that a new ball isn't far away.
