Press Association's Rory Dollard on Twitter: "316/3 to 416ao is really a quite decent turnaround given how much the game was slipping during the Head-Smith partnership.
"England do have a chance, but need to bat properly. The Ashes being on the line should be decent motivation."
Great shot, great stop.
That looked four all the way from Zak Crawley as he clips the ball off his pads but Nathan Lyon dives one-handed to cut it off at mid-wicket.
David Warner runs over to give Lyon a low five for his efforts.
Here is the final Australia wicket to fall to complete a decent morning for England - so far.

About to take off on a 12 hour flight to Hong Kong... England will be 500-1 when I land... or 77-5... there is no in between with Bazball.

Pat Cummins will open the bowling at the other end.

That's good signs for Mitchell Starc, the ball is swinging. It just did a little bit too much. That's what they spoke about, that's why they didn't review it.

Australia have 416 on the board but still bowl the first ball of the innings with three men on the fence.
Ben Duckett runs a single to bring Zak Crawley back on strike and Mitchell Starc gets some wild early swing that thuds into his pads.
There's a huge appeal from Starc but the umpire says no - with Australia declining the review.
The Hawkeye replays shows it was the correct decision, but that was some ominous early movement from Starc.

Australia have a deep point again to Ben Duckett in this first over.
Not quite, but Zak Crawley is off the mark with a push off the pads into the on side.
Loud cheers echo around Lord's.
Mitchell Starc will open the bowling to Zak Crawley.
Will we see a repeat of his first ball at Edgbaston?

Huge, huge couple of hours coming up. The series needs England to bat well. It's not hyperbolic to say the Ashes are already on the line.

Zak Crawley needs 9 runs to overtake John Crawley in Tests runs scored. Hope it’s a lot more.

Come on then, Bazball. Let's see what you've got.

It was all happening, runs were being scored, wickets were falling. There was a lot spoken about the pitch and England's performance, they came out today with more energy. This next 20 minutes for England will be really important. It's a nasty little session and they need to get through it without losing any wickets.

Be interesting to see how England approach this. Will they declare at 650 or try to push on for 700?
Neil C
Tempted to do the same, Will!
The Australia players are already out on the field, with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett following swiftly behind them.
A big 20 minutes ahead.

Will Green: This 20 minute period is possibly the biggest test Bazball has ever faced. Personally, I’ll be enjoying it hiding behind the sofa.

I don't think Joe Root will be reverse sweeping the first ball. It is going to be a real test for Zak Crawley, the ball will be nipping. He does edge a lot. Ben Duckett didn't have his best game at Edgbaston, we will see how he goes. Have England bowled badly? Have Australia bowled really well? We will see.

Marcus: All the pressure is now on the England batsmen. Will they be true to their earlier boasts and play bazball?
James Lowe: Australia going to get any stick for collapsing from 320-3? Any praise for England? Let’s get a lead now flat pitch and fast scoring ground.
Andrew Mc: Not a bad effort keeping them below 450 this morning. Only fear is we will now be 2 down before lunch.
