Australia are now 393-8... declaration? I didn't think so...

He is a run machine. It is a sign for England, those nicks weren't carrying yesterday. It's a very good catch for Ben Duckett.

Lord's rises to a genius. On the field, he has always been extremely special.
Smith c Duckett b Tongue 110 (Aus 393-8)
Brilliant catch and Steve Smith has gone - the Smicket England fans have been waiting for!
It is a fine take from Ben Duckett low to his left as Smith goes for an expansive drive but the ball flies to gully.
Smith leaves to warm applause from the Lord's crowd, recognising yet another masterful innings.
Josh Tongue now has three wickets.

Get on the circle line, Ben Jones (11:45). England expects…

We have seen plenty of shots like this from Steve Smith this morning.
Just the one run of Ollie Robinson's first over, Steve Smith dropping and scampering through to the other end. That wraps up an interesting first hour as the players take a drink.
England have two wickets to expose the tail, but Australia are scoring at a fair old lick.

Amanda Rutter: Steve Smith is truly the eternal thorn in England's side through successive Aussie teams.
Wayne: Re: Jon (11:54) I am no fan of Smith but I'm not sure you average 60 in Test matches through being lucky.

From memory, this is the first time a team has began a Test match with four bowlers with over 200 Test wickets each. Australia have Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon with 200+ Test wickets each.
We have just seen a replay of Josh Tongue's dismissal of David Warner yesterday, what a wonderful delivery that was.
Steve Smith plays a glorious drive off a length that looks four all the way, but a brilliant diving stop from Stuart Broad restricts him to a single.
We also have a change at the other end as Ollie Robinson limbers up.
In this innings, Steve Smith has a false shot percentage of just 15.6%. Barring Alex Carey (6.9%), that is significantly better than the rest of his teammates, who have all been 20% or higher.

* BBC - how about you print something that goes against the Smith love-in? * Is anyone every going to mention the sheer number of times Smith plays and misses?! The guy is so lucky it is scarcely believable.
Jon
As you asked so nicely, Jon...
Smith 108, Cummins 11
Frustration for England as Pat Cummins pushes at a Stuart Broad delivery and a thick edge sends the ball fizzing away fine for four.
Broad then gets one to spit up at Cummins and flashes past the outside edge.
Every so often the pitch offers something for the bowlers.
We have the first bowling change of the day as Josh Tongue replaces James Anderson.

England need to quickly finish this Australian tail end in the next 20 overs. If they can do that and finish on 20-0 or 30-0 at lunch they are in the front seat.
Kaden
Surely time to resume referring to a Steve Smith wicket as a 'Smicket', avoiding the disappointment of realising that, once again, the Australian wicket that has fallen is indeed not his.

Steve Smith (3,174) moves to fourth on the all-time runs list in Ashes cricket, overtaking Steve Waugh (3,173).
Steve Smith hammers the next delivery through mid-on for four.
Once again it feels like England need to focus on removing the tail, as Smith is looking in fine touch this morning.
Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BBC Test Match Special
Yesterday Smith came out straight away on top and what a way to bring up three figures, a beautiful cover drive.
Simon Mann
BBC Test Match Special commentator
There was something inevitable about that. England were not budging Steve Smith. One of the greats turns it on again at Lord's.
Steve Smith clatters the ball through the covers for a boundary to bring up his century.
Smith raises both hands into the air and looks towards the boundary, where his team-mates have gathered and are on their feet.
There's warm applause around Lord's as well as cheers from the Australia fans.
There's no smile on Smith's face though, he looks focused.
