Mark in the Forest of Dean, you are most definitely not the only one...

Mitchell Starc plays Mark Wood relatively comfortably to get off the mark with a drive into the covers for a couple, then works him off the hip for a single to keep the strike.

Mark Wood blew Australia away in the first innings and he will be hoping for something similar here.

Am I the only worried that we'll bowl them out in the next 15 minutes, then lose four wickets before the end of the day?

    Mark, Forest of Dean

  4. Aus 139-6published at 54.2 overs

Travis Head goes on to the back foot to one from Mark Wood which climbs into him and punches the ball to the boundary for four.

    Nice shot.

Mitchell Starc is the new batter at the non-striker's end.

Mark Wood is limbering up to replace Stuart Broad.

The crowd are pumped at Headingley now.

That is now 100 Test wickets for Chris Woakes in England, averaging just 22.4. This is now his best match against Australia in terms of wickets taken.

There's a little bit of variable bounce in this pitch. That one bounced more than Carey expected. Every run Australia get now will be valuable. The lead is only 165. England are right in this game now, you would say they've got the edge now. The last two wickets have come from variable bounce, I wonder how it will be when England bat.

    Carey b Woakes 5 (Aus 139-6)

Dragged on to the stumps attempting to leave!

Alex Carey, similar to the wicket of Mitch Marsh, makes an error as he attempts to withdraw from the shot.

The ball climbs into his gloves and deflects off them and is cushioned down into the stumps. The Aussie batter can scarcely believe it.

Woakes punches the air before taking the high fives from his team-mates.

  10. Aus 135-5published at 53.3 overs

Alex Carey plays at a delivery from Chris Woakes wide of off stump with soft-ish hands and the ball whistles away through the slip cordon for four runs.

A really good over from Stuart Broad. Those overhead conditions are warm, muggy. Some batters will hit it in the middle then miss the next one. Just past the edge there. It's all about the length. Those couple of deliveries from Broad, especially the second, were a perfect length. If England are to get back into this series, they need to knock Australia over.

  12. Aus 134-5published at 53 overs

A fine over from Stuart Broad, who is right on the money for England and clocks up a maiden. Tough conditions for batting. Alex Carey is just focused on survival, you sense.

I'd keep Stuart at Old Trafford, he's an Ashes man for me.

The crowd are absolutely loving this bowling from Stuart Broad.

  15. Aus 134-5published at 52.3 overs

Two balls later and Stuart Broad has Alex Carey tentatively defending and beats him again.

Broad, hands on hips, puffs his cheeks.

That was mighty close to taking the edge.

In the first innings, Australia's last six wickets fell for just 23 runs, their lowest score for their last six since MCG in December 1998. Last time Australia lost fewer wickets in their last six was at Edgbaston in 1981.

  17. Aus 134-5published at 52.1 overs

    Ooof. Top bowling.

Alex Carey nervously prods at a peach from Stuart Broad which skips off the pitch and beats his outside edge.

I presume the Groundsman “the Leach lookalike” is Keighley's Richard Robinson, the new head Groundsman at Headingley. He is also the leading all-time run scorer in the Bradford (now Premier) League with over 17,000 runs and younger brother of the former Yorkshire and Leicestershire batsman Phil Robinson. And he's a great bloke!

If I was Travis Head, I'd come out with no pads on. I'm getting a bit bored of this. Can you pitch up one for something different to do? He knows every ball is coming up to his earholes.

  20. Aus 134-5published at 51.4 overs

    Lead by 160

Short stuff to Travis Head but he seems relatively unflustered against the pace being offered by Chris Woakes.

A single from Woakes' second ball gets Alex Carey on strike and the field is brought up, but a couple of balls later the Aussie wicketkeeper works it off his legs to get off the mark.
