  1. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Surrey 396 v Warwicks 118-6

Danny Briggs dabs Dan Worrall down to third man with soft hands and adds four runs to his score.

This is a handy partnership for Warwickshire, but they need more than handy at this stage.

  2. wicket

WICKET Thomson b Revis 6published at 14:49 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Yorkshire 297 v Derbyshire 209-7

    The stumps are broken again!

This time, it's Alex Thomson who departs as his big drive is defeated by Matt Revis, who picks up his first of the innings.

Wayne Madsen is running out of partners at the other end on 93.

  3. wicket

WICKET McIlroy b Van Beek 0published at 14:49 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Worcs 284 v Glamorgan 170

A perfect yorker from Logan van Beek is far too good for Jamie McIlroy, and Glamorgan are all out for 170.

Worcestershire lead by 114, and Van Beek finishes with impressive figures of 4-42.

That will be tea at New Road.

  4. 6 runs

1000 runs for Bohannonpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Northants v Lancashire 235-6

Glorious shot from Josh Bohannon as he dances down to Rob Keogh and he launches him into the stands for six.

That sees Bohannon clock up 1000 runs in the Championship this summer. It also pushes Lancashire into the lead in this match.

He is the second Division One batter to reach that milestone after Somerset batter James Rew.

Well batted from the doughty Bolton right-hander.

  5. wicket

WICKET Gregory b Abbas 10published at 14:46 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Hants 308 v Somerset 86-6

An absolute peach from Mohammad Abbas, seaming back between bat and pad, and Lewis Gregory's stumps are splattered.

Ben Green is the new man, and he is struck on the helmet second ball, so the physios are coming out to check he's alright.

  6. wicket

WICKET Lees c FHP b Carson 103published at 14:42 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Durham 214-4 v Sussex 266

Alex Lees sweeps Jack Cason but doesn't keep it down and Fynn Hudson-Prentice takes the catch at mid-wicket.

A disappointing end to an excellent innings by the England opener, who faced 155 balls and hit two sixes and eight fours.

He now has 1,714 runs in the Championship this season.

  7. Bonus point perilpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Essex 173-5 v Middlesex

Of course Essex need to win to keep pressure on leaders Surrey and they began this week with a 17-point deficit.

But that also means bonus points are very important for them, too.

From 122-0 to 169-5, their chances of good batting points has seriously diminished. Remember they need to reach 250 to pick up the first of a possible five.

  8. wicket

WICKET Van der Gugten c Haynes b Pennington 0published at 14:39 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Worcs 284 v Glamorgan 169-9

Timm van der Gugten lasts just two balls.

A good length from Dillon Pennington, Van der Gugten flicks at it, and only succeeds in guiding a catch to Jack Haynes in the cordon.

  9. Postpublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Surrey 396 v Warwicks 100-6

Dan Worrall is back and Michael Burgess drives out through cover for one and the Warwickshire total reaches three figures. He is 35 not out and Danny Briggs has 10.

  10. Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Hants 308 v Somerset 84-5

Hampshire are up in celebration, as they think they have Andy Umeed caught behind, but both the batter and the umpire are unmoved.

It was a lovely delivery from Liam Dawson, drawing Umeed forward and turning just enough.

Impossible to tell whether there was an edge on it...

  11. 6 runs

Postpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Durham 211-6 v Sussex 266

Ollie Robinson isn't hanging about at the Riverside.

The final three balls of spinner Jack Carson's latest over disappear for 4, 6 - lofted over mid-on - and 4 and Robinson has 31 not out from 24 faced.

  12. wicket

WICKET Walter b de Caires 2published at 14:34 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Essex 169-5 v Middlesex

Josh de Caires has done it again!!

He is playing tricks with the minds of all Essex players now as Paul Walter leaves one and the left-hander watches as it slowly carries straight on and hit the stumps.

That is now 4-49 for de Caires from 24 overs. Brilliant stuff!

  13. wicket

WICKET Kellaway c Haynes b Van Beek 0published at 14:34 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Worcs 284 v Glamorgan 168-8

A duck for Ben Kellaway, and Logan van Beek has three.

It's a really sharp catch from Jack Haynes in the cordon, on a day where Worcestershire's catching hasn't been at its best.

  14. Postpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Surrey 386 v Warwicks 95-6

    A near thing.

Michael Burgess pushes at a ball from Tom Lawes and it falls just short and wide of a diving Cameron Steel at third slip.

Four runs are added to the Warwickshire score.

  15. 200 runs

up for Derbyshirepublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Yorkshire 297 v Derbyshire 200-6

A single to Wayne Madsen takes his team to 200 as he moves to 86.

But from 173-3, the match has shifted into Yorkshire's favour.

  16. Another century for Leespublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Durham 183-3 v Sussex 266

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Alex Lees is enjoying his best season in FC cricket with the bat. His previous high was in 2016 when he scored 1,199 runs for Yorkshire. That included three centuries and seven fifties.

This season he's now recorded five centuries and four half centuries. And at 100 not out his tally for the year so far is 1,252.

Such has been his form in recent weeks this is his fifth hundred in seven championship innings. There's been a 65 not out in there too.

The club record for the most runs in a season is 1,654 by Australian Michael Di Venuto. He got there in the final game of the 2009 season, as Durham retained their title and completed the campaign at Worcester without losing a game.

There were 16 matches in a season back then, compared to 14 now, but it will be interesting to see how close Lees can get.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

Guess what - another wicket at Leicester.

It's a corker of a ball from Wiaan Mulder which just clips Ollie Price's off stump.

The Leicestershire fielders appeal for a catch until the keeper spots that there is a bail missing.

    Gloucestershire are 12-2 - still 33 behind.

  18. 100 runs

for Josh Bohannonpublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Northants 232 v Lancashire 204-6

And Josh Bohannon only needs one ball to go from 99 to 100.

A third ton of his Championship summer and a second against Northants.

This has come off 184 balls and has included 14 fours, but more importantly, he is keeping Lancashire in this match.

  19. 200 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Northants 232 v Lancashire 203-6

They have lost more wickets than they would have liked but there is the 200 up for Lancashire.

Josh Bohannon sends Rob Keogh through the covers to the boundary and he is one away from a century

  20. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 4 September 2023

    Surrey 396 v Warwicks 88-6

Tom Lawes is into his second over for Surrey and Danny Briggs cracks him away square for four.

Two balls later, Lawes is down the leg-side and Briggs turns it away on the leg-side for another boundary.
