  1. new ball

Bears take the new ball at Edgbastonpublished at 10:53 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Northants 217-5 (80 overs) v Warwickshire

Warwickshire take the new ball in Birmingham.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby is entrusted with the task.

17 added so far this morning by Lewis McManus and Saif Zaib with the old one.

  2. wicket

    WICKET O Price c&b Dal 132published at 10:52 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 341-7 v Derbys

He's gone! Price aims a straight drive down the ground and Dal flings himself to his right to grab the chance just inches from the deck.

It's his highest score in first-class cricket.

The new batter is Josh Shaw.

  3. wicket

WICKET Rehan Ahmed c Carter b Karvelas 0published at 10:51 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Sussex 262 v Leicestershire 76-5

Three wickets. Rehan Ahmed should have left that well alone from Ari Karvelas but he's followed it out wide and feathered one to Oli Carter.

8-3 in five overs this morning.

Can Ben Cox stem the flow?

  4. Postpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

Middlesex pass 150 at Old Trafford

Robson opens his day two account, pulling a short ball from Bailey in front of square for four runs.

The innings 150 comes three balls later with a flowing Robson drive through the covers for a single.

  5. Postpublished at 10:49 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 341-6 v Derbys

Ed Middleton is still looking for his first run at this level, but he's looked largely untroubled defending and leaving the ball outside off stump so far.

Ollie Price pushes Dal into the off side for an easy single - and now Middleton has his first run (off his 16th ball) with a neat scoop into the leg side.

  6. wicket

WICKET Amin c Carter b Unadkat 2published at 10:46 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Sussex 262 v Leicestershire 75-4

Two key wickets in two overs.

Umar Amin does not look thrilled with the decision. He's come forward in defence and doesn't think he nicked it. Replays suggest he might be right. Jaydev Unadkat didn't appeal at first but joins in with the cordon and gets the decsion.

Rehan Ahmed is the new batter. Rishi Patel is still there on 37 at the other end, watching the carnage unfold.

  7. Postpublished at 10:45 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs v Middx 145-8

    Close!

Roland-Jones flays outside off and the ball flies between slips and gully for four runs.

Frustrating for Will Williams, who has taken two of the eight wickets to fall in the innings to date.

  8. wicket

WICKET Finch c Moores b Paterson 47published at 10:44 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 394-5 v Notts

Harry Finch has followed an away-swinger from Dane Paterson and edged behind three shy of his fifty.

A useful 87 partnership is at an end. Finch had punches Asitha Fernando to the rope off the back foot nicely just two balls previously.

Joey Evison is the new man, against his former club, of course.

  9. Postpublished at 10:41 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs v Middx 141-8

Roland-Jones picks up four runs, muscling a back of a length ball through mid-wicket.

Good start for Middlesex so far this morning.

  10. Postpublished at 10:40 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 337-6 v Derbys

    Close!

Middleton is solidly forward to defend against Conners, but he plays and misses the fourth ball off the back foot.

    He survives. Maiden over.

  11. Postpublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs v Middx 136-8

Will Williams is bowling just outside off stump and Robson leaves.

But he's beaten by the fourth ball, which thuds into the gloves of keeper Phil Salt.

Williams pushes the ball out a bit wider and Robson leaves again.

    Maiden over.

  12. rain stops play

Delayed start in Cardiffpublished at 10:37 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Yorkshire 330-3 v Glamorgan

No play yet at Sophia Gardens.

It will be a late start there.

  13. wicket

WICKET Ackermann b Unadkat 22published at 10:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Sussex 262 v Leicestershire 73-3

    Not the memory he wanted.

Left-armer Jaydev Unadkat fires one in which beats the edge of Colin Ackermann's bat but smashes into off stump, sending it cartwheeling.

A perfect start to the day for the hosts. Less so for Leicestershire who are seeking to pile pressure onto Worcestershire, currently in second.

Umar Amin is the new man. He made a duck on debut, can he contribute more here?

  14. Postpublished at 10:36 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Kent 387-4 v Notts

Dane Paterson was convinced he'd strangled Jack Leaning down the leg side to finish the opening over of the day in Canterbury but the umpire is unmoved.

Keeper Tom Moores had the best view and was very vociferous in his appeal. Paterson looks perplexed.

  15. Postpublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 337-6 v Derbys

Ollie Price is off the mark, for today at any rate, with a thick edge wide of second slip that runs away for four off the second ball of the over.

Four dot balls follow and Middleton will face Conners next.

  16. Bears off and running in Birminghampublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Northants 203-5 v Warwickshire

Warwickshire resume with the spin of Danny Briggs at one end and seamer Ed Barnard at the other as they count down to the new ball at 80 overs.

  17. Postpublished at 10:34 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Sussex 262 v Leicestershire 69-2

Colin Ackermann picks up a single off the opening over to move to 18.

He made his career-best score of 277 not out on this ground last season.

How he'd love to make similar memories in the sunshine today.

  18. Postpublished at 10:33 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Lancs v Middx 136-8

    Two slips in for Bailey.

His third ball is wide and hammered through cover by Roland-Jones for four runs.

A bit of a loose one and Middlesex will hope for a few more.

Any runs from here are a welcome bonus.

  19. Play resumes at Bristolpublished at 10:31 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Glos 333-6 v Derbys

Very much Gloucestershire's day at HQ thanks to a third first-class century from Ollie Price on Sunday.

He will take guard first - on 125 not out.

Spare a thought for his partner Ed Middleton. This is his first-class debut and he is yet to face a ball at this level after coming in two overs before the close of play last night.

Anuj Dal will bowl to Price.

  20. Day Two begins at Old Traffordpublished at 10:30 British Summer Time 11 September 2023

    Middlesex 132-8 v Lancs

Huge pressure on the visitors this morning, but the mission is clear.

    Bat, bat and bat.

Sam Robson and Toby Roland-Jones are in the middle.

Tom Bailey will bowl from the Statham End to Rojo.
