Matthew Buckley: Ian Bell fell for 199 at Lord's in a test match back in 2008. Hopefully we can get the "nervous 190s" stat for comparison! (Matt in Oxford)

Kim Garth played for Ireland at 14 and dominated there, fantastic swing bowler, she can also bat a bit, all the Aussies can. She made the big move to come over to Australia and relocate because she wanted to make it as a professional cricketer. She's also played for the Melbourne Stars, plays for Victoria and she's got herself into the Australia Test team. The skill she brings is her away swing deliveries, someone who can bowl with that swing is great.

Sophie Ecclestone continues after the drinks break.

Annabel Sutherland pinches a single off her first ball to bring Kim Garth back on strike. She's happy to defend five balls.

Ecclestone will be happy to see Garth's eagerness to get bat on ball.

Replying to Jack in Mauritius (11:33). I'm sure Michael Vaughan must have the record for most 175+ scores (5) without a double hundred? Zaltz?

Genuine seam and swing from Lauren Bell for the wicket of Alana King, which is what Heather Knight said she was expecting at the toss yesterday.

The only problem is that's one of the very few occasions it's actually happened.

  7. Aus 372-8published at 12:07 British Summer Time 23 June 2023

Kim Garth defends and leaves her first over in Test cricket to give Lauren Bell a maiden.

You sense she will be playing second fiddle to Annabel Sutherland, who has looked quite impressive compiling her maiden international half-century.

She is 67 not out off 120 balls.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is managing a slight knee problem and she could be batting for a long time. Just a bit of inside information.

Kim Garth was quite a way down the pitch backing up...but she managed to get her bat back behind the line in time.

Audible gasps from England's fielders as Annabel Sutherland edges Sophie Ecclestone to the right of first slip, but the diving Heather Knight is unable get a hand on it.

A ball later we have another review for a run out at the non-striker's end after Ecclestone deflects a Sutherland drive on to the stumps. England ask the question and the umpires will go upstairs.

Is Kim Garth going to be out without facing?

Kim Garth is the new batter. She's making her Test debut for Australia but has been an international cricketer for over a decade. The 27-year-old made her international debut back in July 2010 aged 14 for Ireland against New Zealand.

Born in Dublin she moved to Australia in 2020 to pursue a career as a professional cricketer and subsequently switched her allegiance to Australia. She comes from a family of cricketers - her mother Anne-Marie, father Jonathan and brother Jonathan (pictured above) have all played cricket for Ireland at one level or another.

You can read a bit more about Garth in this piece by BBC Sport's Andy Gray.

That's a fine piece of bowling from Lauren Bell, swing, endeavour and King sees middle and off rattle back.

    Bowled through the gate!

Lauren Bell has found a hit of swing and Alana King's drive is beaten as the ball nipped off the pitch to go between bat and pad.

    Fine piece of bowling.

I wonder what the discussions were from Australia earlier today. There's really good technique from these two.

England appeal. Was Alana King's bat behind the line at the non-striker's end?

The on-field umpires have asked to take a look.

How can the commentators say that was a good decision by Anna Harris - she gave it not out. On review, the ball was clipping the leg stump so it was hitting the stump therefore it's out. I know the DRS review if it is umpire's call it is not out since that was the original decision - but it was wrong.

Sophie Ecclestone spoke earlier on this morning about consistently delivering her best ball and hoping for that natural variation will do the trick.

She's on the money in this over putting the pressure on Alana King with two slips and a short leg in place.

Her fourth ball drifts into the inside edge of King's bat but is played with soft hands. Amy Jones has her gloves on head, though.
