Australia are huddled on the boundary as captain Alyssa Healy offers some words of wisdom for her charges.

Tammy Beaumont and Emma Lamb are making their way out to the middle.

England face a monumental task to reach first innings parity.

  2. How's stat?!published at 14:35 British Summer Time 23 June 2023

This innings from Australia is the sixth highest team score in women's Test cricket history and the highest since England bowled out South Africa for 493 in 2003.

There'll be a few tired bodies in the England dressing room. Ecclestone's effort came from 46.2 overs, while Cross bowled 29 and Bell and Filer offered 20 and 22 respectively.

Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sophia Dunkley chipped in a handful of overs, but were England a bowler light?

This Australian side is stacked with all-rounders, we may see bowling duties shared round a bit more.

Sutherland is an out and out all rounder, she is the next Elysse Perry. It's scary how good Australia are at the moment.

This is Sophie Ecclestone's first ever Test five-for. She ends with figures of 5-129. Her previous best was 4-88 against India in June 2021.

    Brown c & b Ecclestone 5 (Aus 473 all out)

    Australia's innings is finally over.

Brown tries to punch the ball back past Sophie Ecclestone but it's at a comfortable height and she steps to her left to take the catch.

Ecclestone gets the reward for her toil in this innings - that's her first five-for in Test cricket.

Debutant Lauren Filer returns in place of Cross and England freshen up their pacers at this end.

Sutherland punches down the ground - it's stopped by a diving Dunkley at long-on but the Australian pair manage an all-run four.

328 for 7 at the start of the day felt okay - but the 'tail' adding another 130 has surely taken an England win out of the equation this test.

    Sutherland 136, Brown 1

No rest for Sophie Ecclestone as Heather Knight keeps her star turn in the attack.

Sutherland picks up two as her cut into point is hurled back past the keeper and is cut off at the boundary by the mid-wicket fielder.

And the Aussie all-rounder finishes off the over with a mighty six - lofting Ecclestone over mid-wicket.

    Testing times for England.

I think the hardest thing for the England camp is to not think about the result and just think session by session, hour by hour, chunk by chunk, to hit back at this Australia innings.

England women have grown lots over the years, tjree of my favourite players being Charlotte Edwards, Katherine Sciver-Brunt and Nat Sciver-Brunt. Miss seeing Katherine play, she made me want to try fast bowling and she was a fantastic player!

England's bowlers need to rest, Sophie Ecclestone has bowled 45 overs, Kate Cross has just bowled her 29th, they need to bat long.

  13. Aus 460-9published at 122 overs

Kate Cross continues and Sutherland clips her for one first ball - that's 100 runs conceded by the England seamer.

Sutherland evidently doesn't fear giving her companion the strike. And when Brown returns her to the crease Sutherland lofts a ball into mid-wicket - no fielder there, just a single.

Sophie Ecclestone (119) has now conceded more runs than in any other Test innings as a bowler. The previous most was 118 against India in 2021, where she bowled 228 deliveries in the second innings. So far in this innings, she has bowled 270 deliveries.

Australia's team, the confidence they have as a team, they will look at this innings and think they have been on top and their bowlers are going to be pretty fresh and be pretty raring and ripe to go.

  16. Aus 457-9published at 121 overs

Brown sees out the final two balls of the over. All eyes on Annabel Sutherland now - she lofted Ecclestone for four down the ground earlier in the over, will she accelerate further?

    Garth lbw b Ecclestone 22 (Aus 457-9)

TV umpire Jasmine Naeem is taking a look. Ball-tracking has it taking out the leg stump - Garth is gone.

Will Australia declare? Seemingly not, here comes Darcie Brown.

  18. Australia reviewpublished at 120.4 overs

Big shout from Ecclestone, trapping Garth in front. Up goes the finger of Anna Harris. England think they have their wicket.

The former Ireland international is not convinced - she's sending it upstairs.

The bowlers are looking tired, you can see it is a real test at the moment in the field.

  20. Aus 452-8published at 118 overs

Sutherland steers two through backward point to bring up 450.

Cross's response is a bumper - Sutherland tries to pull but it's a bit too tight and the ball scuds past her and bursts through the hands of Amy Jones, who's standing up.

Was there some glove on that though? Replays suggest not.
