I've been reading through the many messages you've been sending in for the past couple of hours.
It wasn't the most joyous experience, I'll be honest.
England have let such a good position slip.
India close on 196-2, leading by 322
Jaiswal hits fluent century before retiring hurt on 104; Gill reaches fifty off 98 balls
Rohit out lbw on review to Root; Patidar falls for duck to Hartley
England slump from overnight 207-2 to 319 all out
Duckett falls for sublime 153; Siraj 4-84, Jadeja 2-51, Kuldeep 2-77
Day three, third Test, Rajkot - series level at 1-1

I can confirm I failed in finding a sandwich. There's a metaphor for England's performance today in there.
Right then, it's almost time for the evening session.
I'll leave you in the hands of Matt Henry - he was struggling to find a bacon sandwich when he came off comms at 6am, hopefully I'm more fortunate a few hours later.

It’s hard to think England's bowlers will have the energy to take nine wickets quickly. It’s 36 degrees.
They just haven’t had enough rest. That’s why the batters need to realise the importance of bating time in Test cricket as much as whacking boundaries. Let your bowlers have a few more brews.

Not writing off the England squad at all but looking at the last two tests - thoughts Dan Lawrence in for Bairstow? Jonny not offered a lot this series and Lawrence can even turn his arm over if needed.

I think the whole world has been put in a trance by Bazball and the excitement when you are hearing comments like "will India come out and play more positively after tea?" They are 170 ahead with two days and a session left.
Steady progress from India in that session. There's still plenty of time left in the game and if they steadily accumulate over the next few sessions then they can set England a total they're extremely unlikely to chase.
A reminder, though, that they only have ten batters after Ravichandran Ashwin withdrew from the match for personal reasons.
India lead by 170 runs
Lovely shot from Jaiswal, he pounces on a wide, fuller delivery from Root, taking one big step and smearing the ball through the covers for four.
The 41-year-old James Anderson then makes an impressive diving stop at gully.
And that's the end of the session.

For me, the problem with Bazball is the inability to acknowledge that it wasn’t good enough today and they got it wrong. We will no doubt hear platitudes about how positive and entertaining it was and how they’re still in the game. Hearing Stokes or Root say “it wasn’t good enough today” would be a genuine sign of looking to make Bazball work in the long run.

England bring back Tom Hartley after just one over of Mark Wood.
He has Ollie Pope under a lid at silly mid on, but no catching chances come on this occasion.

I understand the negativity around the new way England play from ex-players in the media. It’s their job to criticise. I don’t understand it from fans. I’ve been watching England play since the late 80’s and this is the most exciting time to be an England fan. The team have a new mindset which has helped them win more times than not from impossible situations. But it’s not going to work every time.

Joe Root bowls his seventh over on the trot, from which India work three singles.
England have a few fielders around the bat, but Root doesn't exactly have the air of an attacking spinner.

It's astonishing how quickly we all turn on this England team. We can't all praise England for last night and then go mad this morning with a few silly wickets. If Root reverse scoops Bumrah for 6, we're all calling him a genius for putting pressure back on a brilliant bowler. This is profoundly better than last time we toured India.

First sight of Mark Wood, who comes on to replace Tom Hartley.
Jaiswal lashes his first ball to point for a single, before Wood sends down five dots to Shubman Gill.
Shubman Gill comes to the crease and clouts Root over mid-wicket for four.
No hanging about there.
Rohit lbw b Root 19 (Ind 30-1)
He is!
Three reds on ball tracking - great call by Root and Stokes.
Joel Wilson reverses his decision and the India captain is on his way back to the pavilion.
This time it's Joe Root appealing a not out decision.
He thinks he has Rohit Sharma out lbw missing the sweep shot - we'll soon find out if he's right.
Tom Hartley has an early-20th century vibe to him, with his neat, thin hair and gangly figure. I can imagine him in a sepia photo of Oxbridge dons, or exchanging languid literary observations in the Bloomsbury Group.
Anyway, three singles from his over.
England's premier spinner Joe Root sends down a maiden to Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Years of a disappointing Test team have trained England fans to turn on their players at the earliest opportunity. A shame we can’t replicate the positivity of the players in the middle with a supportive response after one bad session.
