Pardon the smugness (India supporter), but can we give some credit to the Indian persistence and approach. I love watching England and actually think they've over-performed so far. Fantastic Test.

Nothing doing there, replays show a gap between bat and ball as Jaiswal prodded at the delivery.

They check for lbw as well, but the ball was set to pass well wide of the stumps.

  4. Umpire reviewpublished at 8.3 overs

Tom Hartley and the England close fielders go up for a caught behind off Jaiswal, the ball flicking up off his pad.

    They're sending it upstairs.

  5. Ind 22-0published at 8 overs

Root continues, and Jaiswal turns him for two through deep third.

He retains the strike with a single to Rehan Ahmed at mid-wicket, the shadow of the hover-cam casting the ball in shade as it follows it into the outfield.

Jaiswal is eyeing up Hartley here. If he can take him down England don't have a lot in the locker. Fascinating battle.

  7. Ind 19-0published at 7 overs

England introduce Tom Hartley in place of James Anderson and Jaiswal pulls him to square leg on the swivel for a single.

Rohit attempts to break the in-field, but his shot is gathered by Zak Crawley.

If you've just woke up and are wondering what all the anger and disappointment is about, England have crumbled from 207-2 overnight to 319 all out.

It all started going wrong when Joe Root was out playing that trademark reverse scoop. He was out for 18 and Jonny Bairstow fell for a duck to the superb Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep found spin and bounce this morning and also dismissed Ben Duckett for 153.

Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes dug in until lunch but afterwards the England skipper tried to smash Ravindra Jadeja into the stands and was caught for 41.

Foakes then followed the next ball when he chipped Mohammed Siraj to mid-on for 13 and the final three departed soon after.

India are now batting again with a first-innings lead of 126.

  9. Ind 18-0published at 6 overs

Three singles off the Root over, the India batters looking utterly unhurried.

Mark Wood is back on the field, by the way.

India's pace are averaging 19.9 in this series. Their spinners 37.4.

All the talk of how you must play spin well in India, it’s the seamers who have done the damage

  11. Ind 15-0published at 5 overs

Rohit spoils a potential Anderson maiden, pushing his final ball into the covers for two.

England's trumpeter tootles out a cheerful tune - the ground seems quieter today, it being the weekend there's no schoolchildren causing a racket.

Bazball is playing without fear, it’s not playing without a brain. Have they not learnt from the Ashes Test at Lords? Ridiculous.

England just don’t bat long enough to give the bowlers a rest.

  14. Ind 13-0published at 4 overs

Rohit flicks Joe Root down to long-on for the only run of the over.

Quite sedate out there at present, the India batters comfortable in their match situation.

India have a chance in this third innings to bat England out of the game. Even if they get 250 or so it will be really difficult for England to bounce back.

  16. Ind 12-0published at 3 overs

India's batters take three singles from Anderson's over, the first a leg bye.

No need to take any risks here.

Sorry but that is just awful. Gifted India six wickets in that innings and that is not and never will be Test cricket. Very poor.

Bazball is having confidence to play your game, it's not a license to play dumb cricket. That's on individual players. If Joe Root - the most senior batsman in the team - can't figure that out, it's on him, not the system.

James, just waking up and watching highlights (lowlights) in Lyme Regis
