  1. Afternoon session begins at Hovepublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 202-3

Northants are in a strong position but they're not out of sight just yet.

Visiting skipper Luke Procter will resume on 82 not out.

George Bartlett looked a bit skittish before the break, almost engineering a run out off an impossible single, but he's there on 17.

James Coles will bowl to Procter.

  2. wicket

WICKET - Handscomb c Tattersall b Milnes 26published at 13:54 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorks v Leics 174-6

Peter Handscomb didn't last long after the resumption, wafting outside off stump and seeing his edge snaffled by the keeper.

Yorkshire are into the tail now.

  3. dropped catch

Davies dropped on 11published at 13:53 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 41-1 v worcs 360

Great start for the Pears thanks to this over by Joe Leach.

    Will Rhodes carefully defends.

Jason Holder bowls to Davies at the other end.

Worcestershire nearly get two wickets in two overs as Holder gets one to nick the shoulder of the bat of Davies, but the sharp chance is spilled chest high by Rob Jones at second slip!

Two fortuitous runs as the ball squirts away to a vacant third man.

  4. Postpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 24-0 v Surrey

Jordan Clark comes on for his first over and he forces Luke Wells into an edge that drops just short of third slip.

  5. Northeast resumespublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 518-3

Sam Northeast is now into his fifth session of batting.

He has picked up seven runs since lunch and he is within 10 of a triple century.

  6. Postpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 20-0 v Surrey

Surrey have made a change to their bowling, and it's, erm Dan Lawrence.

The ex-Essex batter's bowling is, you may recall, a bit of twirly off spin that has snared three wickets at Test level, but even so you would have got long odds on him coming on as first change.

And it is a decent over, with just one run from it.

  7. Play begins in Leedspublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 166-5

Day two gets under way with Ben Coad bowling to Leicestershire night-watchman Scott Currie, who picks up a couple off the second ball.

  8. wicket

WICKET Yates b Leach 26published at 13:45 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 37-1 v Worcs 360

Single to Yates off the first ball. Davies waits in the crease and guides the third ball away wide of the slips for one.

Rob Yates is castled by Joe Leach next ball! Angling in, beating the bat and ripping out the middle peg.

    Will Rhodes is in next.

  9. 'Steady start from both sides'published at 13:43 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 19-0 v Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's been a steady start from both sides, all neat and tidy.

  10. 'Pitch and new ball have made bowling hard for Sussex'published at 13:42 British Summer Time 6 April

A good morning for the visitors adding 107 for the loss of Karun Nair for 57, who added 111 for the third wicket with skipper Luke Procter.

Procter is playing a captains innings, solid in defence but making sure he punishes the bad ball.

On a grey, overcast, cold day conditions looked favourable for the Sussex seamers this morning, but a combination of a flat looking pitch and maybe the Kookaburra ball, have made bowling hard work.

  11. Under way at Headingleypublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorks v Leics 164-5

Yorkshire's Dan Moriaty sends down the first over of the day as they resume after a delay due to a wet outfield.

  12. 'Final 30 minutes saw abrupt change of tone'published at 13:41 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 507-3

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The final 30 minutes of the first session saw an abrupt change of tone as Sam Northeast decided to step up the tempo, facing some defensive bowling from Ryan Higgins.

Northeast fetched one ball from way outside off-stump over the square leg boundary, then dispatched two more in more conventional manner over long-on.

He had already set a record for Glamorgan’s highest score against Middlesex before being dropped at gully off Tom Helm.

Colin Ingram’s unbeaten 72 was unusually for him a support act as Northeast pondered a further assault in the afternoon.

  13. Afternoon session begins at Edgbastonpublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 35-0 v Worcs 360

Ooh, it's a bit blustery here. But at least we're playing.

Rob Yates and Alex Davies are back in the middle for the hosts, trailing by 325.

There was a bit of movement for the Pears attack before the break.

Joe Leach will hope for a bit more - bowling to Yates.

  14. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 18-0 v Surrey

Tom Lawes drops short and Luke Wells is equal to it, pulling him hard to the midwicket boundary.

Very breezy at Old Trafford now, but it looks set fair for the rest of the day.

  15. Postpublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 13-0 v Surrey

Keaton Jennings connects with an expansive shot outside off, slapping Kemar Roach through the covers for four.

Tom Hartley is slated to come in at seven for Lancashire, who have picked two spinners with the England left-armer named alongside Nathan Lyon.

  16. Postpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 8-0 v Surrey

It's sedate so far at Old Trafford as Roach and Lawes keep it tight to Jennings and Lawes.

The Lancashire captain has had a couple of wafts outside off stump, but otherwise it is a quiet opening.

  17. Somerset take charge in opening sessionpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 100-4 v Somerset

    Alex Hoad
    BBC Radio Kent commentator

Somerset have wrestled back control after winning the toss and inserting Kent this morning and their lunch will be tasting extra sweet after the fourth wicket fell with the last ball of the morning session.

After a nervy start Tawanda Muyeye began to glide through the gears on his way to 33 but losing him and Daniel Bell-Drummond in quick succession to Lewis Gregory halted the home side's momentum and when Jack Leaning was strangled down the leg side for a golden duck by Ned Leonard Somerset were in charge.

There were signs that Joe Denly might be able to stick around with Ben Compton (32*) but Gregory's neat catch off Matt Renshaw has landed another timely blow with nearly 77 overs remaining in the day.

  19. 'Fascinating to see what goes on'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 4-0 Surrey

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Surrey winning the toss and unsurprisingly having a bowl and it will be very fascinating to see what goes on.

The conditions would say win the toss and have a bowl but what we've seen with the other games with the Kookaburra ball is that it doesn't do quite as much as the Dukes.

  20. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 100-4 v Somerset

With that dismissal of Joe Denly, the players have headed for refreshments in Canterbury.

Kent were going nicely at 59-0, but Somerset, led by skipper Lewis Gregory, have fought back strongly.
