  1. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 317-7

OHD is very wide outside off and Nathan Smith is able to leave.

At the other end, Rushworth tests Holder with a short ball, which he pulls off the splice for no run.

Holder picks up a couple of runs off the fifth ball.

Just four scored so far today.

  2. Northeast five shy of 200published at 11:12 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 379-3

Great start from Sam Northeast to day two as he gets two fours in three balls off Toby Roland-Jones, both steered backward of square.

He is now on 195, five shy of a brilliant double ton.

  3. wicket

Essex all out for 253published at 11:11 British Summer Time 6 April

    Porter c Harrison b Pennington 6

    Well, that didn't take long!

Cook and Porter had a few slogs early on, and Jamie Porter backed away to try to slice Dillon Pennington over the slips but Calvin Harrison took the catch above his head at first.

Essex have subsided from a promising position yesterday, but having gone past 250 they have their first point of the season - and points make prizes, don't they?

Dane Paterson finishes with 5-49 for the season's first five-fer.

  4. Postpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 5-0 v Somerset

Josh Davey is handed the new red cherry to begin Somerset's season.

Ben Compton is facing and the first runs come from a delivery that clips the thigh pad and races fine to the boundary.

The opener then gets the first run off the bat with another one off his pads.

Jake Ball will now share opening duties at the other end.

  5. Postpublished at 11:05 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 317-7

A nervy start for the Pears as Holder wafts and misses outside off stump and then follows and misses a ball down the leg side.

Good take by keeper Michael Burgess.

Holder will keep the strike with a forward push into the on side via a thick inside edge off the sixth ball of the over.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby will bowl at the other end.

  6. 11:30 inspection at Headingleypublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 164-5

No play yet in Leeds, but the umpires will be inspecting at 11:30am.

  7. Delayed start at Old Traffordpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancashire v Surrey

The umpires have had a look and will inspect once again at 12:15pm. It is dry overhead, but clearly still wet under foot, although the breeze will, hopefully, help dry things out.

  8. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 316-7

It's a bit murky here at Edgbaston but we're ready to go.

For the Pears, much will depend on the batting of ex-Windies skipper Jason Holder, who resumes this morning on a watchful four not out off 19 balls.

His partner is New Zealander Nathan Smith, who faced four balls last night and is yet to get off the mark.

Chris Rushworth will bowl to Holder.

  9. Play resumes at Trent Bridgepublished at 11:00 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts v Essex 244-9

Good news as we get under way at Trent Bridge, with Sam Cook and Jamie Porter resuming and hoping to eke out a few more runs for Essex's final wicket, with Dillon Pennington opening up for the hosts.

  10. No play before lunchpublished at 10:58 British Summer Time 6 April

    Derbyshire v Gloucestershire

After yesterday's play was abandoned without a ball being bowled, more bad news from Derby this morning.

More overnight rain on an already saturated outfield means there will be no play before lunch.

  11. Delayed start at Headingleypublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 164-5

There's been rain in Leeds overnight, and although it is dry now they won't be resuming at 11am.

  12. Kent v Somerset - visitors choose to fieldpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent v Somerset (11:00 BST)

Good news from Canterbury as our radio colleague Alex Hoad was suggesting in that play will begin on time.

Somerset have won the toss and like every team yesterday have opted to bowl first.

Kent have former Lancashire spinner Matt Parkinson in their side, while the visitors have a new red-ball captain in Lewis Gregory and include former Nottinghamshire bowler Jake Ball.

  13. Delayed start at Durhampublished at 10:55 British Summer Time 6 April

    Durham v Hants

There was more rain overnight at Chester-le-Street, where there was no play at all on Friday.

The first pitch inspection of the day took place at 10am today.

We won't be starting on time this morning as there is a further pitch inspection at 11am.

  14. Inspection at Old Traffordpublished at 10:51 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancashire v Surrey

There's been what Lancashire describe as a "sprinkling of rain" overnight, which means that the umpires are having an inspection.

They seem to be looking intently at the run ups at one end, but the players are not warming up yet.

Kudos to the groundstaff, who will have been out for hours already

We'll bring you more news as soon as we have it, but it is dry and unusually warm as well as windy in Manchester this morning.
