  1. Postpublished at 13:18 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 4-0 v Surrey

Jennings gets off the mark with a languid touch off his pads that races away over the outfield for four.

Given the deluge in Manchester in recent days, that's a sign of the great work from the ground stafg.

  2. Play to begin at 13:40 BSTpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 6 April

    Yorkshire v Leicestershire 164-5

Good news coming out of Leeds.

Play on day two will begin at 13:40 BST, with 72 overs scheduled to be bowled.

  3. Under way at Old Traffordpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancs 0-0 v Surrey

The sun is cracking the flags at Old Trafford as Kemar Roach sends down the first over for the defending champions.

Luke Wells plays out a maiden, and Tom Lawes will take the James Anderson End to bowl to Keaton Jennings.

  4. 'Great credit to the ground staff'published at 13:14 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancashire v Surrey

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Great credit to the ground staff to get the outfield ready.

We've been patiently waiting for some cricket but such has been the amount of rain that has been falling, we've still had to wait for some time.

  5. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 202-3

Bartlett is forward to Coles, pushing safely to backward point but for no run.

He wants a single off the fourth ball, punched into cover but Procter sends him back to avert an almost inevitable run out.

A safer single tapped into the on side to take Northants to 200 in the 71st over.

Bartlett is forward to block Carson, bowling with a slip and a short leg.

He gets a single off the third ball, driven through cover.

A forward short leg and silly mod off come in for Procter, who gets away with a single through point.

Bartlett sees out the over and a fine session of play for Northants ends. They've picked up 107 runs this morning for the loss of just the one wicket of Karun Nair.

  6. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 93-3 v Essex 253

Simon Harmer's second over is played out by Joe Clarke, and Nottinghamshire get to lunch for the loss of three wickets.

Essex will feel they should be four down - they were convinced Montgomerie was out in the previous over.

  7. wicket

WICKET Denly c Gregory b Renshaw 19published at 13:12 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 100-4 v Somerset

Somerset claim a fourth wicket right on the stroke of lunch!

Matt Renshaw had given up three fours to Joe Denly in his opening over, and maybe eyeing a repeat, Denly edges it into Lewis Gregory's hands at slip from his attempted drive.

Winning the toss, two wickets and a slip catch, Gregory has been a central figure this morning.

  8. Postpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 93-3 v Essex 253

Jamie Porter is convinced that he has Matthew Montgomerie caught behind. It's a bit of a celebrappeal - well, we are at the home of Stuart Broad - but as the bowler wheels towards the slips, he turns to see the batter still at the crease and the umpire unmoved.

  9. Postpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 198-3

James Coles will bowl an over or two of left arm spin before lunch and he's off to a promising start with turn and bounce outside off as Bartlett tries to force the ball away off the back foot.

Just two runs scored in the over.

Carson is a tad short at the other end and Bartlett misses out on a leg glance.

  10. 'Game in balance'published at 13:05 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 35-0 v Worcs 360

    Brian Halford
    BBC Coventry & Warwickshire

Warwickshire will be happy with that morning session.

A good solid start, but it is absolutely in the balance.

  11. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 35-0 v Worcs 360

A largely tidy over by Waite is blemished slightly by a fuller ball on leg stump which Davies drives through mid on for four - and that's lunch.

Certainly some movement and accuracy on show for the Pears attack, most notably from Leach and Holder, but no breakthrough in the first 11 overs.

  12. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 507-3

Another outstanding session from a Glamorgan perspective as they add 137 runs without losing a wicket.

Sam Northeast is on 283 not out, 17 short of a triple hundred and now 50 behind Graham Gooch's record score at Lord's - that 333 for England against India in 1990.

Colin Ingram has 72 and provided excellent support.

Can Northeast become a Lord's record holder?

  13. Postpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 91-3 v Essex 253

We have some spin at Trent Bridge - Simon Harmer comes on as we close in on lunch.

Joe Clarke isn't fazed by the prospect of the South Africa international and clubs him down the ground over the head of non-striker Matt Montgomerie.

  14. 500 up for Glamorganpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 505-3

Sam Northeast smashes two sixes in three balls, again off Ryan Higgins and that sees his side post 500.

Northeast is now up to 282 in this mammoth knock.

  15. Internationals on show at Old Traffordpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 6 April

Lancashire v Surrey - play to start at 13:10 BST

Nathan Lyon will make his Lancashire debut, as will New Zealand T20 batter Tom Bruce. Lancs' other debutant is bowler Tom Aspinwall.

Surrey have a star-studded lineup - Ollie Pope, Ben Foakes, Jamie Overton all feature while Dan Lawrence makes his Surrey debut having moved from Essex over the winter.

  16. Postpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 31-0 v Worcs 360

Four runs to Yates with a front footed clip through square leg off the bowling of Waite but he plays and misses at the next ball to see out the over.

Davies picks up a single off Holder and Yates is beaten by the second ball of the over outside off.

The fourth ball is carved over the slips for four! Almost a maximum as the ball bounces only a metre or so in front of the rope.

    High risk cricket.

  17. 'Parts of outfield too soft and wet'published at 12:56 British Summer Time 6 April

Durham v Hampshire - play abandoned for the day

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Durham’s wait to begin their County Championship season continues after day two of their opening game was abandoned, just like day one.

The umpires Rob White and Richard Kettleborough say parts of the outfield remain too soft and wet following heaving rain in recent days.

There’s hardly been any rain overnight, but ground staff say the water table is very high following prolonged poor weather in recent months.

They will try again against Hampshire tomorrow, on what should be day three.

This is the first time I can see that Durham have lost the two opening days of the season. Prior to this they lost day one here in 1996 against Northants. That was on 2 May.

They also lost day one against Worcestershire in 1999, which was on 13 April.

  18. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 185-3

First runs for Bartlett in his first Northants innings come off a thick outside edge, driving Lamb through backward point for four.

He's forward to off spinner Carson, playing him defensively down the ground.

The fifth ball is driven firmly down the ground for a single.

  19. 'Good captaincy from Simpson'published at 12:52 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 184-3

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

It was a short ball and Karun Nair has laced it straight at him and out of nowhere Danny Lamb producing a pearler of a delivery and the partnership has been broken.

It was a good bit of captaincy from John Simpson, he knew nothing was happening in terms of swing, so he's got the men in front of square and it has paid dividends.

  20. 'Wickets out of the blue'published at 12:51 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 80-3 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The wickets came almost out of the blue because Tawanda Muyeye and Ben Compton were looking so comfortable, and then Lewis Gregory found something
