  1. 6 runs

Postpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 475-3

There are not many things Sam Northeast has done in this innings, but here's one of them - a six!

Northeast moves his score up to 261 with a big slog over cow corner. Ryan Higgins is the unfortunate bowler.

  2. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 20-0 v Worcs 360

Canny bowling from Leach, bowling a fraction back of a length, inducing an ungainly cross batted hack from Davies into the on side.

The last ball of the over is safely tapped away to square leg for one.

Jason Holder is bowling his first ever spell for the Pears and he hits a nagging line and length straight away, beating Davies outside off.

    Maiden over.

Essex on top at Trent Bridge.

  4. Surrey win toss and put Lancashire inpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancashire v Surrey

Champions Surrey have won the toss at Old Trafford, and have put Lancashire in to bat.

Play is due to start at 1:10pm.

  5. Postpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 75-3 v Somerset

Joe Denly gets a boundary off Lewis Gregory with a nice push through the covers, but Somerset's tails are definitely up here.

Another wicket before lunch and they will feel like they've had a very good session.

  6. 250 runs

for Sam Northeastpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 464-3

The shot of a man at complete ease as Sam Northeast brings up his 250, dancing down the wicket to Josh de Caires and hitting him through the offside.

We keep saying it but what a start to the season to Northeast.

We may not get a higher score all summer!

  7. Postpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 19-0 v Worcs 360

Joe Leach has hurried Davies a little with a full delivery pushed into the off side.

Yates is forward to Smith, defending into the off side.

The second ball is a little wider and steered by Yates off a thick outside edge wide of the slip cordon for four.

  8. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 73-2 v Essex 253

Haseeb Hameed flashes outside off and a top edge is parried away by Dean Elgar at first slip.

Hameed rubs it in by smacking Will Porter away to the point boundary.

  9. wicket

WICKET Nair c Coles b Lamb 57published at 12:39 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 177-3

    Breakthrough.

A promising innings is ended by Lamb, who drops short and wide and Nair slaps the ball to Coles at cover.

George Bartlett is in for his first innings as a Northants player.

  10. wicket

WICKET Leaning c Rew b Leonard 0published at 12:38 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 70-3 v Somerset

    Gone! First ball!

A nightmare dismissal for Jack Leaning as he tickles a legside delivery from Ned Leonard behind to the wicketkeeper.

From 59-0, Kent have lost three wickets for 11 runs.

  11. wicket

    WICKET Bell-Drummond c Renshaw b Gregory 6published at 12:36 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 69-2 v Somerset

Fine stuff from the Somerset captain!

Lewis Gregory gets one to bounce a little on Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond and it is steered into the hands of second slip, where Matt Renshaw makes no mistake.

  12. Postpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 67-2 v Essex 253

That is lovely from Haseeb Hameed, he delicately back-cuts Shane Snater behind point for four, his fourth boundary.

The Notts skipper, blessed with infinite patience, is ticking over nicely.

  13. Postpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 172-2

Change of bowling for Sussex as Danny Lamb comes in for Hudson-Prentice at the Cromwell Road End.

His first ball is leg side and nudged fine by Nair for one.

Procter is well forward driving Lamb through the off side but without piercing the field.

Very good session of play for Northants so far at a cold and cloudy Hove. 77 added without loss today.

  14. Day Two abandoned at Riversidepublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 6 April

    Durham v Hants

    Bad news, I'm afraid.

Conditions at Chester-le-Street remain very wet so Durham and Hampshire will have to wait until tomorrow to start their season.

  15. 1:10pm start at Old Traffordpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lancashire v Essex

Good news at last from Old Trafford!

It has dried up in Manchester, and the toss will take place at 12:40pm with a start scheduled for 1:10pm and 80 overs to follw today.

  16. Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 13-0 v Worcs 360

Nathan Smith is having a promising debut for the Pears as Davies plays and misses outside off.

Four slips in for Joe Leach at the other end as the bowler tries a slower ball which Rob Yates waits for and blocks.

There's a bit of carry outside off stump for Leach but Yates is able to leave the ball alone.

An over pitched ball is driven through cover for four.

  17. 'Cook is close to be being an England bowler'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 59-2 v Essex 253

    Don Topley
    BBC Essex

Essex will be chuffed, they'll want to keep making indentations in this Nottinghamshire scorecard.

Sam Cook is probably close to be being one of the next England bowlers, for me.

  18. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 59-2 v Essex 253

Essex keeper Adam Rossington is up to the stumps to Shane Snater, and he has a grandstand view of Joe Clarke driving the first ball of the over through the off side for four.

Snater nearly has his revenge when Clarke inside edges the ball just past his stumps, the keeper, everything.

  19. 50 runs

for Colin Ingrampublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 441-3

It has been sedate progress for Colin Ingram but the South Africa batter eventually brings up his half-century.

It's the third of the innings to go along with Sam Northeast's double ton and this stand is up to 125.

Ingram gets there by tucking Josh de Caires' spin fine for a couple.

  20. wicket

WICKET Muyeye b Gregory 33published at 12:23 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 59-1 v Somerset

    Breakthrough for Somerset!

A fine ball from Lewis Gregory jags back a touch from outside off and it beats Tawanda Muyeye's defences and removes the off bail.

A bit of revenge for Gregory after the Kent opener had walloped his first over for 20!
