  1. 50 runs

50 for Karun Nairpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 157-2

Nair reaches his half century off 92 balls with a clip just past the hands of forward short leg for one.

He's also hit seven fours and a six.

That's the 32nd half century of his career - and his third score of 50 or more in four matches for Northants.

  2. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 156-2

Hudson-Prentice is a bit leg side with the last delivery of his over and Procter keeps the strike with a clip to fine leg for one.

He gets a single off Carson, cut through cover on the back foot.

    Nair is on 49.

  3. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 51-2 v Essex 253

We're only 12 and a bit overs in but Haseeb Hameed is taking a walk down the track to drive Shane Snater through cover for a lovely boundary.

  4. Warwickshire batting at Edgbastonpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks 0-0 v Worcs 360

360 is a decent score but probably a fair bit below what the Pears would've hoped for midway through Day One.

Rob Yates and Bears captain Alex Davies will get the innings started for the hosts.

Joe Leach will bowl to Yates.

  5. Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 154-2

A slip and a short leg in place for off spinner Jack Carson in an otherwise defensive field.

Procter will keep the strike as he clips the last ball of the over through mid wicket on the front foot for one.

    Gone!

Sam Cook nails Ben Slater on the back foot from around the wicket and the left-hander has to go.

Joe Clarke comes out to join Haseeb Hameed.

  7. 'Somerset may regret not including Bashir'published at 12:10 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 52-0 v Somerset

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Not exactly the ideal start to Lewis Gregory's reign as Somerset captain.

After putting Kent in, he has had to watch Ben Compton and Tawanda Muyeye make a largely untroubled start against Josh Davey and Jake Ball, and when he brought himself on, his first over went for 20!

The way things are going, it may not be long before Somerset are regretting not including Shoaib Bashir in their line-up.

Minus Craig Overton, the seam attack looks underpowered on a decent batting pitch.

  8. wicket

WICKET Holder c Briggs b Booth 29published at 12:10 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 360

Finch is doing a good job holding an end up here, having now survived 24 balls batting with Jason Holder.

But Holder has gone! Short ball which he tries to pull into Birmingham City Centre, but the ball takes a leading edge and is caught in the deep by Danny Briggs on the off side.

Warwickshire have wrapped it up in little more than an hour of play and that's a really strong fightback after the Pears were sitting pretty yesterday afternoon on 235-2.

Booth has 2-72 and Rushworth was the pick of the bowlers this morning (prior to a Holder onslaught at least) with 3-97.

  9. 50 runs

up for Kentpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 52-0 v Somerset

An excellent start for Kent openers Tawanda Muyeye and Ben Compton as they clock up a half-century partnership.

After a slow start, Muyeye has really got going with six fours, although four were in that one Lewis Gregory over!

  10. Postpublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 43-1 v Essex 253

Ben Slater is already into his stride, essaying a gorgeous cover drive off Snater for four to take him to nine - he's nearly caught Haseeb Hameed up; the Notts skipper is on 11 off 29 deliveries.

  11. 'Visitors capable of batting to tea'published at 12:06 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 425-3

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

There were few fireworks in the first hour under grey skies at Lord’s as Glamorgan’s overnight pair of Sam Northeast and Colin Ingram accumulated steadily in a century stand on a batting-friendly wicket, with the Kookaburra ball giving Middlesex little assistance.

Northeast reached his double century off 279 balls, extending his county’s highest individual score on the ground, and becoming the first Glamorgan batter to open the season with a 200 since Hugh Morris in the Championship year of 1997.

Home captain Toby Roland-Jones packed the leg-side on occasion and went without a slip, but Glamorgan were in no mood for frivolity as they settled for four batting points at 424-3 in 110 overs.

They look capable of batting until tea before the visitors’ bowlers get the dubious privilege of trying to find some life in the surface.

  12. drinks break

Drinks break at Hovepublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 152-2

Karun Nair takes Northants to 150 in style with a front foot reverse sweep for four off Jack Carson.

He clips Hudson-Prentice into the leg side for one at the other end to move to 48.

Hudson-Prentice is round the wicket to Procter who defends.

    That's drinks.

  13. 'Snater put it in a good area'published at 12:01 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 34-1 v Essex 253

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

His love affair with Trent Bridge continues.

Just one ball sent down by Shane Snater whether it did a little bit or not but he seemed to put it in a good area.

Ben Duckett wasn't seemingly trying to smash him to the city centre somewhere, he was just done by one that nibbled away late.

  14. Postpublished at 12:00 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 357-9

Adam Finch survives the OHD over and Michael Booth replaces Rushworth in the attack as Warwickshire look to end the innings.

He starts with a very full toss at about chest height which Holder slaps away through the off side for one - so now he has up to five balls to bowl at the tail ender.

Finch gets away with a single off the fourth ball, Holder gets one more off the fifth and Finch defends the short ball.

  15. Change of bowling skip!published at 11:57 British Summer Time 6 April

    Kent 37-0 v Somerset

After 10 tight overs from Josh Davey and Jake Ball, new Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory decides to bring himself on.

He starts with a no-ball and then Tawanda Muyeye proceeds to hit four boundaries and a two in the rest of the over.

The end result is 20 runs to the total from Gregory's over.

Wonder if the captain will remove this bowler from his attack?

  16. wicket

WICKET - Duckett b Snater 21published at 11:54 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 33-1 v Essex 253

Wow! What a start for Shane Snater!

His first delivery, from around the wicket, beats Ben Duckett all ends up and rips the off stump out of the ground!

Ben Slater is next in, so it's Snater to Slater - nice.

  17. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 33-0 v Essex 253

Ben Duckett gets away with one there - Sam Cook drops short and Duckett's attempt at a hook flies high over the slips and to the boundary.

  18. Postpublished at 11:51 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warwks v Worcs 354-9

A change in tactics for Jason Holder, who scoops a back of a length ball outside off stump down to fine leg for four. Inventive.

Four more runs driven through the off side. That's 350 runs and a third batting point.

A shorter fifth ball is pulled away square for four more.

14 off the over in all as frustration builds for the Bears.

  19. 'Lord's pitch looks very good'published at 11:46 British Summer Time 6 April

    Middlesex v Glamorgan 411-3

    Edward Bevan
Cricket reporter on BBC Radio Wales

This pitch here at Lords does look a very, very good one as Glamorgan's batsmen have shown us.

  20. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 6 April

    Sussex v Northants 141-2

Karun Nair is moving through the gears smoothly this morning with a gentle steer wide of the slip cordon off Robinson for four more runs.

We now have four slips in for Nair plus a short mid off as Nair is forward to defend.

Good carry and pace again for Robinson but still enough width for Nair to leave the ball.

The last ball of the over is full and driven through wide mid off for four.
